FLCs needing revisits

You voted there, so I am leaving this note on your talk page. I have entirely rewritten the article, and put all the prose into 2010 North Carolina Tar Heels football team. I still think we should just leave it as a merge, but I'd appreciate your input. Nolelover 14:32, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you...

...for this. I have spent a very discouraging morning reverting his mass restoration of these articles (and noting several clear copyvios along the way), and it is extremely heartening to find an example of diligence along the way. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:21, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Favour

Hey Giants, hope you're good. Here for a quick favour, some feedback on Gordon Bennett Cup in ballooning which I've been working on in the last couple of days. I'm looking to head to FLC once this year's race finishes, which is fascinatingly still going on (see this for live tracks of the remaining balloons!). Any suggestions are gratefully received. It's a little raw, I know, but would be nice to at least have an external POV. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 22:04, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 September newsletter

We are half-way through our final round, entering the home straight. New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions) leads at the time of writing with 1180 points, immediately followed by Hungary Sasata (submissions) with 1175 points. Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) closely follows in third place with 1100 points. For those who are interested, data about the finalists has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/finalists, while a list of content submitted by all WikiCup contestants prior to this round has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Submissions. As ever, anything contestants worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Despite controversy, the WikiCup remains open. Signups for next year's competition are more than welcome, and suggestions for how next year's competition will work are appreciated at Wikipedia talk:WikiCup/Scoring. More general comments and discussions should be directed at the WikiCup talk page. One month remains in the 2010 WikiCup, after which we will know our champion. Good luck everyone! Hello. You are receiving this message as you previously posted in the ongoing RfC on whether Featured List Criteria section 3b should be modified or eliminated. Based on feedback and commentary received during the section-by-section analysis of the current criteria, I have proposed a new version of the criteria here. I would like your input on ways to improve and refine this proposal, in hopes of reaching consensus to implement this change to the criteria. Thank you for your attention. Hi Giants2008! Would you mind revisiting your comments at WP:Featured article review/Premier League/archive2 to see if they have been resolved to your satisfaction? Thank you, Dana boomer (talk) 13:37, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Yo Giants. I'm away for a while as of tomorrow afternoon. My (question, request, demand, hint)* is, if at all possible, you could spare a few precious moments to review my paltry offering. It's a good list, as far as I'm concerned, but I'm sure it's not perfect, and some non-UK eyes would certainly be appreciated. In any case, if you had some minutes to check it out, I'd much appreciate it. All the best, The Rambling Man (talk) 21:06, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 October newsletter

The 2010 WikiCup is over! It has been a long journey, but what has been achieved is impressive: combined, participants have produced over seventy featured articles, over five hundred good articles, over fifty featured lists, over one thousand one hundred "did you know" entries, in addition to various other pieces of recognised content. A full list (which has yet to be updated to reflect the scores in the final round) can be found here. Perhaps more importantly, we have our winner! The 2010 WikiCup champion is Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), with an unbelievable 4220 points in the final round. Second place goes to New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions), with 2260, and third to New South Wales Casliber (submissions), with 560. Congratulations to our other four finalists – White Shadows (submissions), William S. Saturn (submissions), Connecticut Staxringold (submissions) and Colombia ThinkBlue (submissions). Also, congratulations to Hungary Sasata (submissions), who withdrew from the competition with an impressive 2685 points earlier in this round.

Prizes will also be going to those who claimed the most points for different types of content in a single round. It was decided that the prizes would be awarded for those with the highest in a round, rather than overall, so that the finalists did not have an unfair advantage. Winning the featured article prize is New South Wales Casliber (submissions), for five featured articles in round 4. Winning the good article prize is Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for eighty-one good articles in round 5. Winning the featured list prize is Connecticut Staxringold (submissions), for six featured lists in round 1. Winning the picture and sound award is Jujutacular (submissions), for four featured pictures in round 3. Winning the topic award is Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for forty-seven articles in various good topics in round 5. Winning the "did you know" award is New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions), for over one hundred did you knows is round 5. Finally, winning the in the news award is Republic of Ireland Candlewicke (submissions), for nineteen articles in the news in round three.

The WikiCup has faced criticism in the last month – hopefully, we will take something positive from it and create a better contest for next year. Like Wikipedia itself, the Cup is a work in progress, and ideas for how it should work are more than welcome on the WikiCup talk page and on the scoring talk page. Also, people are more than welcome to sign up for next year's competition on the signup page. Well done and thank you to everyone involved – the Cup has been a pleasure to run, and we, as judges, have been proud to be a part of it. We hope that next year, however the Cup is working, and whoever is running it, it will be back, stronger and more popular than ever. Until then, goodbye and happy editing! 2010 PapaJohns.com Bowl FAC

Thanks for your comment at the FAC for 2010 PapaJohns.com Bowl. If you have a chance, could you take another look at the article and comment whether you believe it fully meets the featured article criteria? I would very much appreciate it. Grondemar 16:50, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for catching those close paraphrasing issues in the 2010 PapaJohns.com Bowl article. I believe I fixed them all; would you mind revisiting and letting me know if you believe the article meets the featured article criteria now? There also have been some editors saying the text could use another copyedit; if you could look over and let me know if you find anything confusing or less-than-ideally-phrased, I would greatly appreciate it. FLC

Hi Giants, how have you been lately? The Rambling Man is going to be on break for time being, and I will do my best to resume reviewing FLCs. TRM has indicated to me (via email) that he might be out for a while, so I might need someone to help out with director/delegate duties. Do you think you can help out occasionally in that department? I'll try to keep up with the bulk of the closures and mundane stuff, but if you could step in once in a while, that would be great. Thanks, as always, Dabomb87 (talk) 19:45, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Excellent! For starters, Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of songs in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock/archive1 will need closing (but not necessarily now) Dabomb87 (talk) 22:51, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Haflinger horse FAC

Hi Giants2008 - I have resolved/responded to all of your comments at the Haflinger horse FAC (located here). Would you mind revisiting? Thanks! Dana boomer (talk) 14:22, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Miss Moppet

After The Story of Miss Moppet was promoted at FAC, it was discovered that the primary contributor had closely paraphrased or copied many sentences in many articles, and that in some cases facts presented were not backed up by the references cited. The user was indefinitely blocked as a sockpuppet of a banned user - for more details, please see Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/ItsLassieTime.

Truthkeeper88, with help from Ruhrfisch, has since made sure that the language used in Miss Moppet does not closely paraphrase or copy that in the original sources, and checked almost all of the sources used to make sure the facts cited are backed up by the sources. We are now asking all editors who contributed to the FAC to please review the article and comment at Talk:The Story of Miss Moppet#Post-FAC cleanup review comments on any concerns or issues they have with the current cleaned-up version of the article. Thanks in advance for any help, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:57, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Order of battle of the Battle of Long Island/archive1 needs a revisit. And thanks for covering for me while I was AWOL. Dabomb87 (talk) 15:28, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Giants2008... I noticed you have added a bunch of references to the previously unreferenced BLP Alberto Davila. You may be aware that the DYK project has recently adopted a new rule, allowing DYK nominations for newly-referenced BLPs with only a two-fold expansion. As you hae already done the referencing work, I thought I'd mention that expanding the article and finding a hook would make the article eligible for DYK. Perhaps you are interested. FLC

I'm sure reminders are unnecessary but I'm just (cheekily) wondering if you can bump my FLC up your list as I'll be off-wiki long term shortly and I'd like to get any issues (like reliable sourcing) sorted before Jujutacular takes over the FLC in absentia. FA level review, please?

I noticed that you addressed the unreferenced BLP to Shigeaki Hattori and I see that you like to comment on FA candidates for sports articles. I have improved the Alan Kulwicki article and it failed to be promoted once. I still need to clean up the deadlinks in the references but otherwise I think the article is ready for another run once this cleanup is addressed. I'd give a penny for your thoughts - Do you think that the article is ready for another attempt at FA? If you do accept my challenge, I'd appreciate if you'd leave comments on the article's talk page. Royalbroil 12:47, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2011 WikiCup!

Hello, happy new year and welcome to the 2011 WikiCup! Your submissions' page can be found here and instructions of how to update the page can be found here and on the submissions' page itself. From the submissions' page, a bot will update the main scoresheet. Our rules have been very slightly updated from last year; the full rules can be found here. Please remember that you can only receive points for content on which you have done significant work in 2011; nominations of work from last year and "drive-by" nominations will not be awarded points. Signups are going to remain open through January, so if you know of anyone who would like to take part, please direct them to Wikipedia:WikiCup/2011 signups. The judges can be contacted on the WikiCup talk page, on their respective talk pages, or by email. Other than that, we will be in contact at the end of every month with the newsletter. If you want to stop or start receiving newsletters, please remove your name from or add your name to this list. Good luck! J Milburn and The ed17 12:57, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
