DYK for The Boys (Girls' Generation song)

[edit]

On 5 May 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Boys (Girls' Generation song), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Girls' Generation is the first girl group to have three music videos, including "The Boys", with more than 100 million views on YouTube? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Boys (Girls' Generation song). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Boys (Girls' Generation song)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Coffee // have a cup // beans // 13:38, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot find the article from popmatters. It is not a reliable source. It has only been mentioned once, whereas everywhere else Pink Tape is correctly listed as synthpop, K-pop, dance-pop, and electronic. Please do not keep on adding art pop as it is factually incorrect and misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 13:13, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cosmicgirls: Even though it is mentioned once we cannot deny it. And PopMatters is unreliable? Simon (talk) 13:35, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No you can deny. "Queens of art-pop" is not a reliable source. Stop spreading false information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 13:55, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cosmicgirls: Lol, nobody says PopMatters is an unreliable source. Okay, so give me your "everywhere else"'s sources for dance-pop and electronic? Are they reliable? Simon (talk) 13:57, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Look at all the other sources. They confirm it. F(x) has always had an electronic sound. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 13:59, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And also, are you really using "Queens of art-pop" as a source when it was only said once and has never been confirmed/agreed on and was in reference to the concept of Pink Tape (the art film/teaser) itself? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 14:00, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cosmicgirls: Electronic music is vague, and music critics can spot out any elements on the music. Like Mr.Mr. (EP), the group only says that the EP has R&B styles, but music critics also spot out Eurodance, electropop, etc. Stop being so nonsense. Simon (talk) 14:04, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

But Eurodance and Disco is not apart of the genres for Mr.Mr. EP because they are just musical influences of the album. Not the actual genre. There's a difference. You're wrong. There is no song on Mr.Mr that is of Eurodance or Disco, and all songs on Pink Tape are either synthpop, electropop, dance-pop, with some even being electro house and alternative pop. You are using a source that is referring to the influence of the album's concept.

@Cosmicgirls: Then give me sources mentioning "electro house" and "alternative pop". Simon (talk) 14:08, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It is literally INCLUDED in the wiki page itself, if you read the composition section and the sources you would know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 14:09, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cosmicgirls: But the Naver sources have nothing to do with the genres. Some information are not backed up with sources either. Simon (talk) 14:12, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

So now only Korean site sources are credible? When you literally tried to pass up four words from a Western site as credible? Ok. Art Pop is a specific genre and no SM group has songs that are Art Pop. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 14:14, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Some information are not backed up with sources either." Then it isn't a source and can't be used as reliable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 14:15, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cosmicgirls: End of conversation here. Stop being so nonsense. Thanks. Simon (talk) 14:19, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thank you for being kind. But do not edit again, as it is incorrect. I don't want false information spread about my lovely f(x). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 14:21, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cosmicgirls: Lol, adding art-pop to me is a way to show my love to f(x) as all information should be known. But let's just pass it — Simon (talk) 14:24, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Haha I understand~ Maybe in the future SM will make an art-pop album for them and we can add it in there :') But as of now there is sadly no such thing! But f(x) already have interesting music and genres kkkk — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 14:26, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I end up sending this to your talk page instead of that other topic, I'm new :(

But anyway, I strongly believe it is not Art-pop. For example, art-pop would be Grimes' new album "Art Angels", whereas Pink Tape is synthpop, electropop, dance-pop, etc. Most albums listed underneath Art-pop have the singers or group contributing to all the songs (with the lyrics, composition, etc) and Pink Tape doesn't have that. Most genres of the tracks in Pink Tape are listed, with Shadow belonging in the Indie Pop category. F(x)'s aesthetic is artsy and the art film for Pink Tape and the concept of the album itself is homage to artsy themes, cult classic films, etc. It is very easy to confuse the genre of this album to be Art-pop if you don't understand music enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmicgirls (talkcontribs) 10:32, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
