Hey

who the hell is hamedog? Hey Hamedog hows it going? I came across your work-in-progress of All Blacks Tests whilst going through a 'what links here' for one of the rugby teams. Nice work, it should be great when its finished. What else have you been editing lately? Following the APC? Cvene64 05:22, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Project RU Assessment

Hey, was wondering if you would consider helping assess articles on Rugby. I've been trying to sort out Wikipedia:WikiProject Rugby union/Assessment. I'm getting their but at the moment I am the only assessor. Could you help out? - Shudda talk 00:14, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah sure, maybe later today I will take a look.--HamedogTalk|@ 01:11, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Rugby Union Starting Lineups

Hello, Hamedog. I'm quite new to this, but I was just wondering how one would go about editing Image:Rugby Union blank line ups.PNG for various teams. I tried saving the '.png' file to my desktop, and simply editing it with The Gimp, but I had no idea what text to use, and I was wondering if this was even the right way to do it. I noticed the Soccer Line-Up images were in the '.svg' format, which allows people to simply edit the text and colours in a program like Inkscape, but I'm not sure this is possible with PNG files. Please help if you can. Thanks --Leotalk 18:31, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Basically, I use Paint, as I have no other program. In paint in use the fill option to colour all the white shirts. Then I delete the position names, writing in the new ones. The font I use is 8 Arial, in bold, Western. Hope this helps. If you can convert to .svg, please do so.--HamedogTalk|@ 02:25, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Alright, I gave it a go with Photoshop with this result: Image:New_Zealand_South_Africa_August_26_2006_TNS.PNG. (Sadly, I have no idea how to convert a file to .svg.) Thanks for the help - this may come in handy when the November tests arive. - Leo Stewarttalk

Posting spurious system messages

Please do not post spurious system messages (that is, messages which falsely purport to be generated by the Wikimedia software). They are distracting and therefore obstruct the use of Wikipedia for its intended purpose. Please refer to the following Wikipedia policies and guidelines:

  • "Feel free to decorate your personal pages as you see fit, but keep in mind that your user talk page has the important function of allowing other editors to communicate with you. People will get upset if they cannot use it for that purpose." (from Wikipedia:User talk pages)
  • "As a tradition, Wikipedia offers wide latitude to users to manage their user space as they see fit. However, pages in user space still do belong to the community… material that does not somehow further the goals of the project may be removed." (from Wikipedia:User pages#Ownership and editing of pages in the user space)
  • "If the community lets you know that they would rather you deleted some or other content from your user space, you should probably do so… If you do not cooperate, we will eventually simply remove inappropriate content…" (from Wikipedia:User pages#Removal)

Psychonaut 02:47, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I just asked on IRC, and while the users said it was "annoying" and "lame" they also said it is not disallowed, so I am reposting it.--HamedogTalk|@ 03:55, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
They also asked you to simply stop doing it, because it confuses others. Please. Jonathunder 03:58, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Psychonaut, kindly stop harassing users. Fake system messages are 100% within policy, in poor taste true... but last I checked poor taste was not against policy. This type of crap is why admins get a bad name... oh wait your not an admin. Its not your job to enforce policy, leave that to those of us who ARE ADMINS.  ALKIVAR 04:01, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I must point out that your interpretation of the role of administrators versus ordinary users is incorrect. All users, not just administrators, are allowed and even expected to advise on and enforce Wikipedia policies. See, for example, Wikipedia:Administrators, which states,
In the very early days of Wikipedia, all users functioned as administrators, and in principle they still should. Any user can behave in a way befitting an administrator (provided they do not falsely claim to be one), even if they have not been given the extra administrative functions.
It is within all editors' rights to remove false system messages and other objectionable content, and doing so twice (with a more elaborate explanation each time) is hardly enough to be considered harassment. If you are an administrator, as your posting implies, then it appears you need to read up on Wikipedia policy and cease issuing these false warnings. —Psychonaut 12:39, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

North Korea vs. DPRK

Please do not systematically change North Korea to DPRK. The current naming convention is the result of a consensus among many editors. If you think it should be different, please take it up on Talk:North Korea rather than simply changing articles against the consensus. Otherwise, your edits will likely be reverted. --Reuben 04:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Note, I have already had a name change / requested move there which was defeated, despite Wikipedia policy. In my understanding of the policy of article names, DPRK should be the name.--HamedogTalk|@ 05:38, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
In other words, you already know perfectly well what the consensus is, and that most editors don't agree with your interpretation of the policy. Please respect the consensus. --Reuben 06:04, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes, but "North Korea" is pretty much a creation of the media and, as Homer said "If your not part of the solution, your part of the problem". North Korea is not how the country identifies itself, DPRK is. Some of Wikipedia policy doesn't make sense.--HamedogTalk|@ 06:47, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Also, I suggest you read Wikipedia:Naming_conflict#Rationale - have a look at the table. I my understanding it would look like this if we used it for the DPRK:

Criterion North Korea DPRK
1. Most commonly used name in English 1 ?
2. Current undisputed official name of entity ? 1
3. Current self-identifying name of entity ? 1
1 point = yes, 0 points = no. Add totals to get final scores.

Under Wikipedia policy, which goes against the majority, DPRK is what we should be using. "What is right may not be popular, what is popular may not be right"--HamedogTalk|@ 06:51, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Take it up on Talk:North Korea. --Reuben 07:17, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Are you saying I am right or wrong?--HamedogTalk|@ 07:18, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
All I'm saying is not to systematically change the naming against the existing consensus. --Reuben 07:46, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Git/Mitchell

Hey mate, yeah I definantly think it could at least get a few words in the article. It is undoubtably notable, so yeah, please edit it in where you think it should go. Cheers. Cvene64 07:32, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Fantastic job with that page! My computer has been down this week, but was fixed yesterday, and I was just about to start on the 2007 seaon, but I see its done! Excellant :). And yeah, pre-season games are needed imo, I wanted to include them in 2006 but by the time I wanted to edit them I could not find all the results. As for UTC times, I'm not sure? Raise it on the talk page imo. Cvene64 07:44, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Currie Cup

Watching it right now :). The atmos there looks great. By the way, Fox is showing 14 Tests next month, so that should be good as well. Cheers Cvene64 14:41, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Haha yeah that was cool. Cvene64 15:28, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey

Yeah, I think All Blacks is the most important article on here, and I've always wanted to work on it. By the way, I left a message on the FA Todays Article thing. Also, although its frustrating, we need to be sure we don't piss off the admins. PS, how is the ABs Test record going? Cheers. Cvene64 06:26, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Do you want to start up a discussion on the talk page and make a list of objectives/ideas? Cvene64 07:48, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah definantly. The ABs should be our highest quality article on here. Cvene64 08:24, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Ah nice work! I say Free RWC William Webb Ellis.PNG, only because the current one is not free, though we have permission, its always better to use a free one, and then other wikis can use it. The Tindall one obviously is not as good because its got people in it, and the other one is part of an image that is already in the article. So if that is cool, can we use Free RWC William Webb Ellis.PNG? Cvene64 06:46, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

ok, seeing as your not a vandal, I'm guessing you didn't vandalize my talkpage, but uhhh.. ur message just now was a bit weird, what was that all about? lol -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 15:05, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

ok, ok, i see now... lol, see, i had no clue who you were and suddenly you put this weird message on my talk page, but now that i know who you are, then i understand everything. Heh, I told you that it would bring it to the FA director's attention and he'd feature it soon, now you got your article featured. I was sure it would happen because I've been doing my little mainteance job for like 14 months now and i just notice these sort of things, it's funny. Congratulations though -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 15:14, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

hah, yeah i got that the 2nd time i read it, i just thought it was odd because you added ~~~~ to it so you signature came out, and that made it seem vandal-like, but later i changed my stance lol. Yeah, I probably should take up rugby; I smash my head against the pavement going 25 MPH wearing no helmet and and end up with a 5 day headache, some blood loss and a few stitches, nothing more... anyone else would be dead! I've been told I'm hard headed, but this is ridiculou, ha ha. Thanks for your message. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 03:56, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
I actuallt like the one that there is now, but it doesn't seem to showcase the trophy enough. If the trophy image is a free image that can be placed on the main page (fair use images can't be, there must be permission to use the image granted by the person who owns it for it to be on the main page, or be in the public domain to make it on the main page) then I'd suggest using the trophy image instead, unless the rugby world cup has an official logo then the logo would be best, I vote for the trophy if it's free. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 04:03, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok, the trophy one should be great, but have User:Raul654 change it for you. I can technically do it, but he might oppose and he is the one in charge after all. There shouldn't be any trouble with him in this case. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 04:06, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Du Manoir

Hi Hamedog! Thank you so much for the compliments, it's always a pleasure to get (positive) feedback, esp. from NZ when it comes to rugby. I added the reference to the Du Manoir article, though the book is in French and out of print. And I looked aroud for a website with more than what I just included with no success, unless it's just for sources. I'll add them and keep my eyes open. I redid the articles on NZ provinces in the French WP because some of them were pretty sloppy. My next job will be to add the details of the finals of the French championship. Shall I make a separate article or just use the existing one? Anyway, now we're ready for Tana to arrive! Huge! He'll have a lot to do to get Toulon out of the hole they're in! Cheers! Beru91 16:43, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Pretty sure the Wallabies high performance manager and the singer that is the subject of our Pat Wilson article are not the same "Pat Wilson". See Talk:Pat Wilson. Cheers! —Stormie 23:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

cheers for the revert

I dont know if protection is necessary. If it gets really bad i would ask an admin to do it. Otherwise, there is a pretty big group of wikipedians devoted to reverting vandalism! If i see it vandalized, i will be sure to revert it again! Chris Kreider - HFF 07:03, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

RfA

Hey, there -- you've disconnected from IRC. Mind if I add a belated co-nom? Early draft at User:Luna Santin/sandbox if you'd like to see it. Luna Santin 10:28, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Just want to wish you happy first edit day, and good luck for the RfA! Cheers -- Imoeng 12:14, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
And why would you being sarcastic? :D. Also, I asked some questions, it doesn't mean I oppose you or something. I will express my opinion probably on the last days. Cheers -- Imoeng
Oh actually, I really do not know, seriously. In the end, there will always something which makes me support or oppose someone. Lets see what this thing would be ;). Oh alright, I will be honest. At the moment, I seem to oppose you (but I am newbier than you, I joined in July 2006), because although edit count does not really matter, yours is pretty much around me (4500, mine is 3000), which is not so high. Again, it doesn't reflect your capabilities, but it shows your contribution to Wikipedia. You might want to see this. Also your answers to the questions are somewhat questionable, not so specific, which makes some editors, including me, worry. However I do agree about the AfD thing, that it is not a compulsory thing for an admin, there are heaps of jobs out there for admins. But lets see, maybe things will change. Again, good luck. Cheers -- Imoeng 12:35, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Rugby World Cup

Perhaps you might want to change the image to Image:William Webb Ellis Cup.jpg?--HamedogTalk|@ 12:16, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I'll pass; because (1) the holder's arm appears too prominently and distracting, (2) more details of the Cup can be seen in the current pic (Image:Free RWC William Webb Ellis.PNG). Thanks for the suggestion, though. -- PFHLai 12:25, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your opinions.--HamedogTalk|@ 12:29, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Hamedog, you might want to check with the TFA Director. He prefers using images actually in use in the FAs. --PFHLai 12:35, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Closing the debate. Why?--HamedogTalk|@ 13:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Are you an administrator? -- Steel 13:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
No, look at the top of my page.:P Anybody can close and AfD. There was a concensus.--HamedogTalk|@ 13:45, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Please read Wikipedia:Deletion process#Non-administrators closing discussions. Specifically, "Non-administrators may only close decisions which are unambiguous "keep" decisions.". -- Steel 13:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh, sorry, please revert me then. My understanding was that editiors can also close.--HamedogTalk|@ 13:53, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Hello! I would recommend withdrawing your RfA early and concentrating on the points raised by the discussion. Specifically, these are:

  1. AfDs - read and get to know the policies, as per the answer to question 1. Your error metioned above comes from not reading the guidance thoroughly before experimenting. Well done for having a go but unless you have the facility to delete articles you can't commit to a delete decision, even if it is obvious!
  2. Mediation - Question 8 refers to this as a possibility of resolving a dispute. Are you aware of the procedures and guidelines that are available to be followed?
  3. Blocking policy - please read this guidance in relation to your response to question 16. Denial of editing privileges is punitive. We do it for vandals on WP:AIV but should it be done for people involved in edit wars, for instance?
  4. Vandalism - one of the big areas for admins. The tools with which we are issued enable us to block/unblock editors; delete/restore and to protect articles. These tools are all essential in vandalfighting, something that the flat, open architecture of Wikipedia facilitates. Non-admins can assist those with the additional tools by patrolling recent changes and new articles; looking at the lists of new users and flagging articles and user Talk pages respectively with the appropriate tags.
  5. Civility - I appreciate that the RfA process is trying and I think that you have been asked many more questions than the average candidate. Some of your responses to the discussion appear to be snappy or stressful - [2], [3] and [4], for example. It is easy to see pseudononymous comments as attacks. I don't think that any of the contributors were attacking you, although they have jumped upon a couple of key points. The best way around this is to take a deep breath, step away for a moment and calmly check the policies and guidelines before responding. Believe me, if you think that some of the contributors to your RfA discussion have been harsh in their views, just wait until you have to intervene in an edit war or run up against someone who thinks that their view is the only one that counts! That is when you have to keep a cool head; the cooler the better, as it is difficult to argue against a calm and rational voice that is speaking from the perspective of understanding policies.
  6. Watch your spelling - there are several mistakes in your answers to questions; equiped > equipped; its > it's (line 1); thinks > think (question 2); there > their (question 7); arguement > argument (question 8); concensus > consensus (question 10); editted > edited (question 14); familure > familiar (question 15). There are more but the point that I want to make is that an admin has to communicate clearly and mistakes hinder clear communication.

There is nothing in the above list that marks you down as a failure. They are all small points which, when worked upon individually, will result in your editing prowess improving remarkably in a short space of time. You can always open another RfA around Christmas or the New Year and I believe that it will stand a much better chance of success after you have taken the advice from the other contributors onboard. Regards, (aeropagitica) 21:12, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

I am forced to give a Neutral Vote to you in your RFA. Please don't take that personally. In my opinion, you have to take part in the most (if not all) activities and gain some knowledge about the rules, policies, guidelines and the common practise. Hope to see you as an admin in 5 to 6 months. Needless to say, I will definitely support you after you are well versed with the policies and activities here. You can always contact me for any help. Regards and Best Wishes  Doctor Bruno  03:34, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Don't worry I won't.--HamedogTalk|@ 03:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi

Thanks for the message. I just joined Wikipedia to point out that there is vandalism that went undetected (maybe you could check it out? -> the discussion page). I also took out some very very biased information about the all blacks "choking". Aqua2000 14:17, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I have been watching that article closely.--HamedogTalk|@ 14:21, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Please consider withdrawing your RFA

At this point, it looks pretty unlikely that it will pass. The current vote count is 9 support (subtracting the 3 moral support votes), 19 against and 12 neutral. There's no way that this is going to turn around and become 75% support between now and October 30. You would need something on the order of 70 more support votes and no more oppose votes.

I have not voted in the RFA because to do so would just add to the "pile on". I suggest that you save yourself and everybody else the agony of a protracted RFA.

It looks like you have good potential to be an admin although you probably have to work on your interaction style a bit and gain some experience with admin-type activities (e.g. AfD, AIV and RC-patrolling). Of course, your anger and frustration at people not getting your misunderstanding of the "this AFD" question didn't help. I know that you were right and they were wrong but the way that you expressed your frustration just dug you into a hole from which there is no getting out at this time.

Consider trying again in 3-6 months.

--Richard 06:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, please retract it.--HamedogTalk|@ 06:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm interpreting your response to mean that you agree with me and wish to withdraw your nomination. It would be improper for me to "retract" your RFA. The proper way to do it is for you to go to the RFA page and express your desire to withdraw your nomination (I think the best place is immediately below your accepatance of the nomination). RFA is sometimes a harsh and uncomplimentary process. I think the "Moral Support" and "Neutral" votes are trying to tell you not to lose heart. Come back in 3-6 months and you'll get more support if you have addressed the issues raised during this RFA. Good luck and good editing.
--Richard 08:02, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, well I might go on a Wikibreak today, exams are coming up so I might make today my last for a while.--HamedogTalk|@ 08:46, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

OK, it's done -sorry about the comment, but as a main article it looked fair game. jimfbleak 13:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I'm really sorry about your treatment. When I first came here (and for quite a while afterwards) it was pretty easy to get to be an admin. All you needed to do was not quarrel too openly with anyone and be here for a few months and hey presto! I'm afraid in some cases it's just people pulling the ladder up behind them and in others it's just envy. But don't stay away too long. Keep making useful contributions and find out what admins do (a lot of them don't do very much, but they make sure they're seen doing it) and I'll certainly be prepared to vote for you in a couple of months' time. Deb 16:20, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to hear about Phantom's passing away

We lost our dog seven years ago. She died early in the morning while we were trying to find a vet that was open and could euthanize her. We took her body to the vet to be cremated. I cried all the way to the vet and all the way home.

I hope you will retain your fond memories of Phantom and I wish you the best in finding another pet that is as loving as Phantom was.

--Richard 16:08, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

RFA again

When you are ready to RFA again, please let me know so I can support you. I sometimes take extended wiki-breaks, though (technically I'm on one now) so if I don't respond, don't wait for me. :) I think I'd be willing to nominate you, too, although I didn't give you a full check to see if you meet my "standards" (and I deliberately put "standards" in quotes), but I think you do, and I was pretty upset by the response you got on your RFA from people with far less experience than you. Crusaders Squad

Hey, since when has this new system been around for listing players in the squad? The reason I ask is because Crusaders just got rated GA and now the squad formatting has changed? Why have the national flags besides the players; all New Zealand Super 14 players have to be contracted to the NZRU and eligible to play for New Zealand (with the exception of some Pacific Island players) so why bother with the flags? I think the same goes for the Australian teams, so it would really only been relevant to the South African teams, but most of them are South African anyway. So I see that as very redundant for the S14 teams (maybe not other professional teams). As for the wiki-linking every name, I've tried to avoid that as red-links look pretty dodgy, and also because many of the names link to articles on other people (e.g Peter Nixon). Anyway whats up with it? - Shudda talk 00:39, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

User:Cvene64 created {{Rugby squad player}} on October 16 UTC. The national flags is part of the coding. You can remove it if you feel it is unnecessary. Wikilinking every name should be done. The redlinked articles should be created.--HamedogTalk|@ 09:06, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

There are indeed real vandals out there. So why are you wasting the administrators' and your fellow editors' time by posing as one and posting frivolous vandalism reports? —Psychonaut 20:31, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Its quite a long story. But pretty much, I annouced on #Wikipedia that I was going to test the reverting of vandalism. I was talking to Shawdow42 and he said that if I don't stop, he would report me in on WP:AIV. So, in the name of comedy, I added myself there. It should be noted I reverted one of my two vandal edits because no one else did.--HamedogTalk|@ 12:35, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I took a look at your block request and edit history. Perhaps you don't realize this, but when you vandalize a page and type "just testing" it's still vandalism - and a specific violation of WP:POINT. Thanks for helping!!!--HamedogTalk|@ 08:24, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
You are welcome. Werdnabot seems to be on and off unpredictably as Werdna tries to fix the security problems. You might want to check its contributions Werdnabot (talk · contribs) periodically to see whether it is running. If it is running and still has not archived this page, then you should be concerned. JRSpriggs 11:20, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
The good news is that Werdnabot archived most of this talk page. The bad news is that 145.97.39.143 (talk · contribs) beat Werdnabot to the punch and archived the same stuff before Werdnabot did. So as of this writting you have two copies of the archived stuff in the archive. You might want to remove one of them before any more archiving is done. JRSpriggs 08:28, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Werdnabot ran a second time. This time it seemed to work correctly. Except that the material which was removed for archiving included a stop-comment signal "-->". The result was that the start-comment signal was unchecked and made the rest of the page invisible. I removed the start-comment signal. JRSpriggs 04:40, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Okay, thanks alot for looking out for my talk page. I might give you a barnstar for all your help.--HamedogTalk|@ 07:51, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Weepu throat slitting.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Weepu throat slitting.PNG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 20:42, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Project RU

Hey, as you constructed the existing project page I was wondering what you thought of this? It's basically identical but each section is a separate page. I'm trying to think of ways of making the project page easier to keep up to date and current. For example having the news section up to date and having a to do list (on the main page) that people can see. What do you think? Any comments on the reformatted page? Any suggestions? - Shudda talk 00:04, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Nicolas Ivanoff.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Nicolas Ivanoff.PNG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 04:40, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Hamedog, I've never talked to you, as far as I recall. Ehh...well just to let you know, the ITN for Pinochet was removed by another admin, but then I went and put it back in. Nishkid64 21:31, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Gah, I was thinking about another Pinochet. About a month prior to his death, Pinochet admitted everything was his fault and said he was close to death. Someone removed it from ITN that time, saying the article wasn't sufficient. As for the Pinochet death, I only removed it on the basis of the problem with ITN death candidates. See [9]. I restored it back after some people it met criteria C. Nishkid64 22:39, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Hamedog. I've removed some images from User:Hamedog/Images, as they are copyrighted, unlicensed images that are being used on Wikipedia under claims of fair use. In reply to ur comments (which i do appreciate alot, thanks).
I think it would be a bit wierd to have larger than one paragraph sections because we have main articles on all of those sections and they explain the topic in general and user:gnangarra said the small section should be a generalised statement.
I chopped down the school song to the shortened 3 verse version - should it just go?

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article David Beckham L.A. Galaxy contract, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria.\

Also, just a heads up, also, you're using incorrect information (please note the correct information has been linked in the article already, he only will make about $10 million a year in direct salary, the rest is through endorsements in product sharing.) SirFozzie 23:15, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

An editor has nominated the article David Beckham move to Los Angeles Galaxy for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Beckham move to Los Angeles Galaxy. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article David Beckham move to Los Angeles Galaxy during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. Image:CaseyLaulalaMugShot.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CaseyLaulalaMugShot.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Muchness 17:51, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

No Personal Attacks

Regarding this edit summary Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Paul Cyr 16:53, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

How on earth is that an attack???!!? If you actually bothered to read the previous persons edit, they changed the tense of the opening of the article. This change was from something like "Vista was released" to "Vista will be released" on the grounds that in was not yet Jan 30 in the United States. I can't see how that is a personal attack. Quite frankly, it is a prime example of why the rest of the world hates America - because they are ignorant of how the rest of the world works. BTW are you admin, because just looking it doesn't appear so, so you should leave that kind of stuff up to admins.----HamedogTalk|@ 01:17, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
You called the person ignorant, that is an attack on the person. See the connection? Quite frankly, I don't care what prejudice you have with America. If you continue to make rude or incivil comments you will eventually be blocked. And no I am not an admin, however non-admins are permitted and encouraged to take on admin roles. I suggest you read the actual reference pages before making such assumptions. Paul Cyr 01:46, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Continue? I made, according to you, one rude comment. And it was an ignorant edit by that person.----HamedogTalk|@ 03:05, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Your reply above where you generalize Americans as ignorant is rude and violates WP:CIVIL. I'm not trying to bite your head off or anything, but you should realize your comment was inappropriate and not do it again. Paul Cyr 04:32, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Please follow the language guidelines of Wikipedia and avoid changing the english dialect in page. In this instance you have changed from New Zealand English to American English. Please refrain in future.--HamedogTalk|@ 07:52, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

I removed your "call to arms" from the above talk page. You are allowed to neutrally notify other editors about a discussion, you are not allowed to actively request them to vote one way or to use partisan language on the case. See WP:CANVASS. Repeated violation can be considered disruptive and lead to blocking. A message "This discussion is relevant to Rugby" on a WikiProject talk page is perfectly fine. ~ trialsanderrors 18:52, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Hamedog, there is a copy at Wikimedia Commons with the same name (commons:Image:HP Promo.jpg). I, however, uploaded a larger version (your version) under the name Image:Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire promotion (Hong Kong Times Square).jpg and replaced it in the article. You may want to replace it in your user space. --Iamunknown 07:58, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Aviation proposal

There is currently a proposal to create an Aviation WikiProject, which would serve to clarify how all the aviation related projects relate, and help with interproject editing. See Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Aircraft#Proposal_Recap for how the projects hierarchy. Part of the reorganization proposes that, because of its very limited scope, WikiProject Red Bull Air Race World Series become a task force of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Aviation. For an idea of how task forces work, take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_history. They have a number of task forces, listed here. As described by them, "task forces are informal groups of editors gathered for collaborative work on a particular topic within the field of military history; all project members are encouraged to participate in any that interest them." The benefit of such a system it that the sub-topics have all the resources of the overall project at their disposal. For instance, the Military history project banner, is placed on every military history page, and the related task forces are listed at the bottom of it. All military history related articles are thereby joined under one roof. I just happened to stumble upon your project, and had until now never realized it existed. By joining forces with another project you will benefit from increased exposure. If you have any ideas or comments, please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft. - Trevor MacInnis (Contribs) 02:27, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: RfA

As in a nomination, or as in mentoring? ;) – Luna Santin (talk) 19:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

I'll need a minute, but let me get working on a nom statement. Anything in particular you'd like me to cover or mention? And, of course, when would you like me to post (I get the impression the answer to that is "tonight," but thought I should ask :p ). – Luna Santin (talk) 04:08, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, I see -- I don't usually keep too close a watch on RfA. I know RfBs have been locked tight, in the aftermath of all that. Last time I was at WP:BN it seemed most of the RfAs open at the time were doing pretty well. Hm, well, as far as mentoring, I've gotta be honest and say I'm not too sure how practical it is, heh. A lot of the stuff I go after is mostly busy-work -- revert a few people here, block a few vandals at WP:AIV, check out some unblock requests at CAT:RFU, keep WP:RFCU in good working order. But, if you can figure some way that my feedback would be useful, I'll be happy to provide thoughts and such as I'm able. And, when you're ready, a nomination (if you'd rather find somebody else, no problem for me; no idea if having the same nominator twice is a good or bad thing; either way, the offer's on the table). – Luna Santin (talk) 04:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
I've never been too sure about the path to adminship -- I like to think most anybody can get there, as long as they stick around for awhile. In general, though, I think people look for things including dedication to the project, a level head in disputes, article writing, counter-vandalism, knowledge of policy, participation in policy and deletion discussions, and that sort of thing. If you help out at WP:AN and its sub-pages, you'll probably have a higher profile among the people who watch RfA. Name recognition helps, I think, but it isn't everything. People do seem to like diverse candidates who've contributed in a number of areas. But especially that level-headed, helpful attitude. Something like that; I wouldn't call myself an expert here. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Luna Santin (talkcontribs) 04:37, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

Scotch College References

Im just enquiring about the references on the Scotch College, Perth article - references 8-13 are of the same book, with no page marks. I dont see a problem with 5-7 because they state page numbers. But why do you have 6 references for the same book, with no changes in the title (to include page numbers) Twenty Years 02:38, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Because I did those references when I was new and I didn't know you should include a page number. I went back trying to find the pages recently but can't really be bother fixing it as I have left the college.--HamedogTalk|@ 03:55, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for the info - Twenty Years 04:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Image:ABHakaWales.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:ABHakaWales.jpg.

Thank you. —Angr 17:58, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Warning

Hamdog Willkca has been warned that repeating the comments will result in a block please leave the issue alone, in short the comments were offensive statements about staff, student and parents of student at the school including names. Gnangarra 02:18, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

I assume you deleted the edits? Yes, sorry about this I was curious as to what had happened, not trying to re-start the fire or anything. Was I mentioned?--HamedogTalk|@ 02:21, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
What was said was deleted, there is no need for further comments. If you have concerns raise it WP:AN/I. Gnangarra 03:16, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Wow, you make it sound like I have done something wrong.--HamedogTalk|@ 03:22, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
WP:LIBEL is the official position of Wikipedia, please read it Gnangarra 03:53, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Also Slander_and_libel#Australian_law Gnangarra 03:55, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Come on- just stay off the issue or a more adventurous admin will block you on the spot, Stay out of the issue and dont leave anything on any page to do with the issue. Simple as that. SatuSuro 03:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
I am aware of slander and libel but I don't think Australian Law applies in this situation as the offence technically occurs in Florida, coming under United States Law (as Wikipedia's servers are hosted there). On what grounds would I be blocked? As far as I am aware I have just made an inquirey into the events that occured on the talk page of an article I have made major contributions too (a mouthful!).--HamedogTalk|@ 03:59, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Having read Slander_and_libel#Australian_law, I take back some of the comments made earlier. But I have not made claims that could be regarded as libel (at least not recently :P)--HamedogTalk|@ 04:02, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
you asked about the willkca comments, They are why I have referred to those links, I have ask you to cease I'm now officially warning you that continuation of this is disruptive and are asking people to violate Australian law as that article link indicates. I am also requesting that you move this discussion to your current archive once you have read this message. Gnangarra 04:08, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
I would suspect that anyone with knowledge of wikipedia policies - reviewing the situation can clearly state that any attempt to circulate or any way show knowledge of, or circulate the willkca comments back into circulation makes you party to the issue. Archive now, so you will not regret !SatuSuro 04:14, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
I have this page set up so it is achived every 16 days. I don't believe I have done anything wrong, I just wanted to know what had occured on the Scotch College talk page, an article I have heavily contributed to. In no way am I trying to help anyone spread material that could be regarded by the courts as libel.
Just a small tip - there's an old saying "choose your battles", this is *really* not worth going down over in my opinion. The above people aren't taking personal issue with you, it's the job of an admin to watch out for this kind of stuff to ensure Wikimedia Foundation doesn't get sued. Orderinchaos 05:14, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't want to see WF getting sued either. I was simply trying to find out what occurred on the talk page of Scotch College, Perth, an article I worked on to get up to GA status. I am sure 95% of editors would also like to know what occurred on the talk page of an article they have made major contributions. I no way am I condoning or attempting to aid the spread of this material - the edits are deleted after all, but I was very interested in why such a fuss was thrown up by admin following these edits. I have not done a thing wrong so I will not archive now - this discussion is still active in my mind.--HamedogTalk|@ 01:09, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
You are your own undoing mate - you have what some police, ambulance and fire workers call it the I have to see the car crash/fire syndrome - long standing editors and admins have perused the talk page item and deemed it inappropriate - If you cannot hack that try worrying about something else. There is something wrong in wanting to resurrect or spark interest in an item that is no longer there - leave well alone. It has absolutely not one iota or anything to do with making wikipedia a better encyclopedia.SatuSuro 05:33, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
