Burma
Okay, I have created Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Burma. I have added you along with added 18 other users (including myself) to the list of involved parties. The ones I have listed are ones who have commented recently, or who commented on the Mediation Cabal case (except if they solely made a neutral comment). If you disagree with me listing you there, remove yourself from it if you wish. If you feel someone else should be involved, add/ask them. I hope those I have added are alright though. I felt that it was important to mention that since you and C Warden support the current location, you may consider the issue settled satisfactorily settled and that no further action is required. Other users honestly disagree, since the "status quo" decision of the MEDCAB was essentially no decision at all when there is no status quo for the article. I would like to see a definitive end to this discussion, scuttling the mediation only defers the problem to a later date when the current decision is so weakly worded. WP:HAU, Status, and you!
As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. User Page Protection
Hey Husond!
Sorry about missing out on helping you guys stop that IP who vandalized my user page in retaliation of yesterday's mishap. You all seemed to have it under control, so I guess it's still a win-win situation (for now).
I'm still worried about users like that who use their rights to edit on Wikipedia to get back at other users (User:Bobo192's user page was sort of a victim yesterday, being someone who's heavy on counter-vandalism). As a result, if a similar IP, which must have been released & renewed again, got back at me or any of the other guys for thrawting those obvious attempts, how should I get the pages to be protected? Am I supposed to take a different approach from requesting protection for normal articles?
...either way, I hope that this doesn't happen again to users like Bobo192. Thanks for your hard and persistent work attitudes, ~ Troy (talk) 23:25, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- OK, just checking. I was just a little worried, because as I recently reverted more and more obvious vandalism (not "content-disputes", which are different) some of the perpetrators got a little ticked off with me similarly as the others.
- One last thing. Satchdudely's account {Satchdudly (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log)} appears to be used solely for vandalism. Could you check it out and may be confirm the issue? Thanks again, :-) ~ Troy (talk) 23:49, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Look at contribs. I think I found that out some time ago. The contributions are often as important—may be even more important—than the user page itself. Also, on non existent user pages, you can go to the toolbox and see that the "User contributions" are actually existing themselves (ie: IPs don't usually have a user page, but their links usually point to Special:Contributions/IP address). Like article histories, specific contributions are not erased. Apparently, you can't erase stuff on Wikipedia—only add stuff (like replacing the page with other content).

Hi Husond, I've completed a rewrite of the New Jersey School Report Card article, and was wondering if you could go take a look and see if you feel it's still in need of deletion. It turns out it was a pretty revolutionary program and the first school report card in the nation to make the information available to all taxpayers. Once I started figuring out the right search terms, there were plenty of reliable sources to make an article out of. So, take a look, see if you feel the nom's still justified, and let me know. No worries if you're still opposed, but if you are and there's a particular thing holding you back, speak up about what it is and I may be able to fix. Thanks! Afternoon. I was dismayed to read your comments on my honesty and integrity in Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Article Rescue Squadron (3 nomination). Your nomination might charitably be taken to mean that some editors abuse the ARS rescue template, but the note that ARS members by definition "clearly have an inclusionist agenda," makes it unambiguous that you think we would subvert the basis of this encyclopedia for the sake of retaining more articles. I joined ARS after rescuing two articles on my own. My use of its resources has been sporadic, but to my recall I have never used them to canvass, be canvassed or keep articles from being deleted in any other way than improving them during AfD.
I do not know how ARS affects AfD, nor whether and how thoroughly you should substantiate your claims of canvassing, but those things are not the issue here. Here's what is the issue: may hit you with a fish? --Kizor 11:26, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Jemele Hill
Why would you ever delete the column on Jemele Hill? She writes a frequented column on ESPN.com every week, and espeicially lately, has come under fairly heavy scrutiny for controversial comments she made. I've been trying to find her wikipedia article for almost a year now to see if I could conviently learn more about her, but you deleted it. She is a national journalist whose work is syndicated on the largest sports journalism website in world history every week. - The titles of Wikipedia articles are case sensitive. Indeed I deleted Jemele hill, whereas Jemele Hill you first wrote was deleted by other editors. The reason for deletion was the speedy deletion criterion A7, which states that articles that fail to assert any notability can be promptly deleted. Like that one did when it was reviewed. Really, because Im pretty sure that Jemele Hill is of incredibly high and distinct notability, and nationally recognized. I don't even like her but I want the opportuinity to read a bit about her so that I can inform myself on a very, very basic level. I'm also pretty sure you are just a pretentious a-hole, and I am requesting that article be re-listed. - it was a coincidence, I wanted a list with cities like the US, because there's almost no templates, just useless district stuff that will be confused in English countries with neighbourhoods. if I had to choose something to highlight Povoa I would use Urban Areas, which I'm still thinking to do, as it shows something different from the city's listing. Besides 50 is too much for a country this size, which was something I planned to do. But 30 is a good number and there was the list already created, so I had a go. Another way is updating the list using data from INE, which I believe it is from 2006. That ranking is from 2004. If I want to highlight Povoa is not by some list with 30 cities, I would create a new article and make it go for the front-page, which Povoa made it a couple of times. But I've better things to do. I just update this povoa articles, because they are already a reference locally, especially the Portuguese version, so I'm happy with that. - In respose to the request, I've evaluated the user 'nominated' for an individual and uninvolved administrator review on my talk page, for the past few hours - although I have been making edits irrelevant to this during that time. In the review of the discussions which were linked from my talk page (and some review of the last 200 edits by the user - I should do more, but generally this should be a good representation) I find that Tocino is a user who is constantly providing his [unpopular] opinion, he is also someone who may find it difficult to understand the reasoning of others (or if he does, then maybe not comprehending it for the sake of keep of the other). Its almost conclusive to suggest that this isn't a single complaint; the editors who are working in that particular Kosovan area, find his edits to be 'soapboxing', 'POV' etc. Which, although may be true for some edits conducted, isn't true for the remaining I saw. This isn't just a single dispute either, this has been sustained for at least a month (perhaps three weeks or more) and it would be regrettable to find fault with just Tocino's edits. This is one perfect example. An anonymous IP, most probably being used by a user who has views opposed to that of Tocino's, has been used to harass his edits and through reviewing that particular editing history for that user, we can see a particular appetite, so to speak, to revert his edits mindlessly. If Tocino's talk page was representative of anything, I'd say it particular symbolises the effect unrelenting warnings (some of which are inaccurate I might add) has on him; whilst not trying to focus on this one aspect, it is worth considering that some users (some anonymous and some registered) are taking the opportunity to revert his changes and sometimes apply an informal (occasionanly the opposite) warning to the talk. However, here is one example of where a user has incorrectly miscarried the right procedure; this should have been reported to WP:AN3, at the very least, with links to the '9-1' conclusion quoted in both the comment on the talk page and re-occurent note in the edit summaries. I will make the user, Jakezing (talk · contribs), aware of this fact immediately. I'm going to refrain from action for now, because, although some contributions are being viewed as 'pointy' (for some of the time, this is right) in the remainding I see defence against some very determined editors who wish to see him off the site, which although may be their perspective, it isn't necessarily the judgement of Wikipedia which on-the-whole allows editors to stay if they make constructive edits (which are available in Tocino's latest edits). I will watchlist his talk page and userpage over the next couple of weeks and take another review of the edits; if this proves to be the final nail in the coffin, as it were, then I will provide ample warning and note of the community's disapproval which is backed by general consensus (i.e. ^90% disagree with the user's presence). Eu atribuo boa parte deste problema ao fato de as pessoas simplesmente votarem ao invés de discutir o artigo com base nos critérios do projeto. Você deve imaginar a série de problemas que isso traz: formação de grupos, mensagens em massa para pedir votos, sock puppets etc. Daí a minha idéia de vir a outros projeto e ver como isso é feito. Se não for abusar da sua paciência, interessaria-me saber se os votantes em geral aceitam o arbítrio dos administradores, já na wiki-pt os sysop se queixam freqüentemente da pressão que sofrem pelo questionamente constante de suas atitudes. - Eu entendo sua posição em não desejar participar da wiki-pt. Infelizmente, você não é o único e alguns editores ativos já abandonaram o projeto por razões semelhantes. Se me permite um palpite, creio que a situação da wikipédia lusófona é um reflexo da política brasileira e portuguesa. Tanto brasileiros como portugueses saímos recentemente de regimes autoritários e guardamos com isso um forte trauma com o arbítrio. Nosso conceito de democracia é fortemente burocrata: eleições com regras rígidas, horário e data para começar e terminar. A maioria dos lusófonos escalizar-se-ia com a possibilidade de um sysop avaliar a validade dos votos e diria "estamos de volta à censura e ao arbítrio dos ditadores". Devo confessar que eu mesmo só comecei a me dar conta dessas coisas mais recentemente. Aquela máxima "A Wikipédia não é uma democracia." é quase totalmente incompreendida por lá. Agradeço mais uma vez pela ajuda que me deu, estou lendo alguns pedidos de revisão para entender como funciona. Se qualquer dia, aceitar editar na wiki.pt, pode contar comigo. czech reaction to kosovo page
Czech Republic's reaction to the 2008 Kosovo declaration of independence is a page ran almsot entirly by tocino who apparently thinks that the fact that "58% of a polled population of the country" means that 58% of ALL OF THE POPULATION makes the czechs a special case demanding a seperate article, can you put it up for deletion?--Jakezing (talk) 16:38, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
