Chandigarh University (formerly Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gharuan(CGC Gharuan^[1])) is a private university in Mohali, India. It was set up in the 2012.^[2]

History

Chandigarh University is an Indian institute for higher education established under ‘The Chandigarh University Act’ and is recognized by UGC. Located in Greater Mohali, Punjab, CU is the largest university in the vicinity of Chandigarh with more than 20,000 students from all across India and 6 countries around the world.^{[citation needed]} Before becoming private university it was a private college Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gharuan^[3] affliated to Punjab Technical University and, since 2009, was since 2009 known for top^[4] University merit positions and Placements.^[5]^[6]

CU is a residential university with separate hostels for boys and girls housing more than 20,000 students.^{[citation needed]} The university is broadly organized into seven institutes, providing education through more than 50 programs including doctorates, post graduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines taught by more than 1000 tenured faculty members.^{[citation needed]}

Joint Campus Placement Programme (JPP)

Chandigarh University (CU) has announced its most awaited^{[citation needed]} Joint Placement Programme (JPP) for Year 2014-15 Batch based on the success of JPP 2014^{[citation needed]} as more than 219 Multi-National Companies. Joint Placement Programme (Jpp) was started by Chandigarh University this year. Since its launch, Joint Placement Programme (JPP) of Chandigarh University (CU) and CGC has provided job placement opportunities to more than 54,000 students of North India with more than 1000 Multi-Nationals recruited students so far under the program.
