Britney Spears Singles Discography
[edit]I was repairing the chart discography of her singles as it was all over the place. Plus other country peak numbers arent referenced so why does the European ones have to be? perhapsthebestsamuel —Preceding unsigned comment added by Perhapsthebestsamuel (talk • contribs) 00:37, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Ahh ok. It would take a lot to reference the whole chart. The numbers are correct though, if you refer to each singles page. Ok thats cool. I was just trying to fix up the european line, as they are showing up with the reference's visable. Cherrytree tracklist
[edit]Let's try to resolve this thing before it results in a block. Could you both leave an explanation here has to why you are inserting and removing the alternate tracklist?—Kww(talk) 12:47, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- the tracklist posted on Billboard it's wrong (the first track is a live version of Poker Face, instead of the song My Love) you can check iTunes. Legolas is keep readding the wrong tracklist. --♫Smanu! 12:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- How are you so certain that it is a "wrong" track list, and not an "alternate" tracklist?—Kww(talk) 13:05, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Just used Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=my+love+lady+gaga&btnG=Google+Search I can't find the name of this song anywhere. --♫Smanu! 13:12, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- There does seem to be three different versions, however, the only source I have found that has "My Love" as a track is Billboard (could just be a mistake?). Original track list: 1 2 3 and
iTunes has a whole other list, "Be Mine!", "With Every Heartbeat" and "Bum Like You" (all live acoustic), and Billboard. So my only recommendation would have to be to include all three. Really shouldn't be warring over such minute, trivial issues guys. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 13:18, 20 May 2009 (UTC)- OK. I'm going to wait for Legolas to weigh in before I say anything more.—Kww(talk) 13:20, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Just realised the iTunes link that they provide on Gaga's website sends you to a Robyn EP of the same name, not the Gaga one. To correct myself, ITunes has "Poker Face (Piano & Voice)", "Just Dance (Stripped down)", "Eh, Eh (Piano and Human Beat Box)". k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 13:25, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

- Doesn't help much: iTunes doesn't allow my country to visit their website, so I can't see the links.—Kww(talk) 13:33, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I said the tracks in my previous post. Don't feel too outcast kww, I have to change my country in the store to view most stuff. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 13:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Can't even do that: we're outright blocked.—Kww(talk) 14:16, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Firstly, wowww how come you are blocked? Even we don't have iTunes India but still we can view US or OZ iTunes by changing the country. Now to the issue at hand. According to WP:VERIFIABILITY, "Wp goes for information which can be verified by reliable sources". Hence in this case since a RS like Billboard is repeating a track called "My Love" in their tracklisting for the EP, hence we can include both of them. This is what was explained in the same issue regarding "Poker Face", but User:Smanu is simply avoiding consensus and going against it. Not bothering to explain in edit summaries and disregard for policies, this user is tending towards vandalism as WP:VANDALISM states, by removing reliable sources. He needs to learn that it becomes extremely difficult to get in touch with him and keep good faith because of his "don't care" attitude. This is my view, that he needs to learn that WP is a collaborative effort and every opinionated thing should be done with consensus. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:29, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- There's a lot of places that can't be reached from South America and the Caribbean because of firewalling. iTunes is just one of hundreds. But, on to the meat of the topic: I'm not seeing a lot of discussion from anyone on this topic, so I'm not particularly willing to go slap Smamu around and pat you on the back, or the other way around. I agree that this is a verifiable tracklist, but the question of how to handle the information remains: do you have any source corroborating this tracklist? Or is Smamu's assertion that it's an obvious mistake credible?—Kww(talk) 03:40, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- User:Smanu's concern maybe correct but since we are dealing with a RS like Billboard I'm sceptical. PS: I don;t want any pats, just that the suer learns to provide edit summaries and doesnot resort to deleting information form articles wothout reaching a consensus. Since WP goes for verifiability rather than the truth, we have to accept that source as it is also keeping the other tracklisting as reported by iTunes and interscope. As I've said before, we are dealing the problem from the wrong point of view. He can mail Billboard and get them to correct the tracklisting (which Billboard is fast enough) instead of all these reverts. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:14, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Since it's uncorroborated, perhaps giving it the full "Alternate tracklist" treatment is a bit overboard. Could you agree to have it mentioned with a statement like "Billboard lists "My Love" instead of "Poker Face", and not be made so prominent?—Kww(talk) 04:23, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- That can be done. However that was not my sole concern. TI was User:Smanu's reversions without any edit summaries and going against consensus to do everything. Also a don't care attitude. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that Smamu's behaviour was problematic. However, I don't see a consensus to add the material either, which means that I also find your behaviour problematic. Today, I don't want to get into an argument over who is more problematic than who. I want both of you to learn to talk to each other, because I think both of you are good editors at heart, and I think both of you have a tendency to repeatedly insert and delete material when you are convinced you are right. If we could get both of you talking to each other, maybe we can fix that.—Kww(talk) 04:52, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

- I think you need to slow down and read things a bit more carefully. Legolas and I had a discussion about his behaviour, and yours needs work too. You don't seem to pay attention to other people's opinions in discussions. It may be that you are skipping over them, it may be that you aren't quite understanding them, but it makes other editors angry with you. I don't blame Legolas for reporting you to ANI over this. The next time you get into one of these reversion cycles, stop, and ask the other editor why he is reverting you, and don't proceed until you understand.
- Yaa. I am fine with the both sources being mentioned, however USer:Smanu has deleted the alternate tracklisting, which I believe should have been kept. I won't be surprised if other users start coming and reverting his changes now. Already it happened. I'm fine with the change now. --Legolas (talk2me) 06:00, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm confused now, because I thought that was what we had agreed on: mention it in the text, but not give it a full "alternate tracklisting" display.—Kww(talk) 12:46, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

TORTURE/WAR CRIMES
Bybee is accused of being a warcriminal because he was an accomplice in practices widely regarded as torture. It isn't a fact that he is a war criminal, or that waterboarding/slamming someones head repeatedly into a fake wall/putting someone in a box with insects is torture. But it IS a fact that he is being investigated for war crimes and professional irresponsibility, and that numerous reputable sources such as the current Justice Department, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, numerous American allies including Canada regard what he advocated to be torture. This is absolutely important, and much more important than mostly irrelevant biographical information. Readers to this article need to know that he advocated these inhuman and frankly illegal practices. To merely refer to them as "controversial" and to not spell out the what the "Bybee memo" really is (waterboarding, beating someone's head into a wall, mental abuse with insects) is to not inform people. It's not being "balanced." It wouldn't be balanced to say that he is a war criminal or that those practices are torture. But we MUST say that he is an accused war criminal, and that these practices are widely regarded as torture, because these are facts. I also support detailing the practices he advocated, to let the reader decide whether or not they are truly torture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.113.132.6 (talk) 16:25, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Kingdom
[edit]Thanks for the offer (Kingdom of the Netherlands talk page) It's a murky issue and Fenteners opening remarks got to me. I hope I can appease him though, as I'm not all that unreasonable. I suppose he isn't either. What we disagree about is not only based on the murky and highly politically charged language of the Charter, but also on how the reason for how that came to be should be reflected in the article. I think it should just clarify the constitutional procedures. I've been in discussion on that page (whith interruptions) for years now. Gerard von Hebel (talk) 00:53, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Charts.
[edit]- Hi again. We have to improve the other charts as they are adding and most of them unreal.
- Cyprus Super Radio chart. No need to talk, it's a radio chart. - Icelandic chart. (I think only the "Netlistinn" is the real chart, the ones near to them all radio charts. - Lithuanian "music.lt" charts. I translated and read the site in english and they are all written that they give votes and it's clear that it's not a national chart.--Triancula (talk) 20:57, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm talking about the "music.lt" chart not the Lithuanian National Top 40. They are different. The new chart is adding not the euro 200/apc stats/lithuanian chart. Also cyprus chart is still being added and it is not official it's written in the apc stats. the Icelandic chart --Triancula (talk) 21:09, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- Time is yours! :) By the way, i found a great site for the Croatian chart. You should look at this too. --Triancula (talk) 00:46, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- Should we use this site? In there it wrotes as "Finnish Official Download Chart" Despite being a download chart, that "official" meaning can give us to use that site but i want to ask you. The chart is so similar to the official finnish chart but it is a top 30 instead of the official is a top 20. But if you look at the same weeks both of them, you can see that they look very similar. If we say ok to this site, i will gonna add it beacuse there are some few artist that haven't charted in Finland top 20 but top 30 such as Anastasiya Prykhodko, Hadise, Regina and Malena Ernman. --Triancula (talk) 08:16, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Component Charts
- just to clarify i am aware of the rules regarding airplay charts. I refered to WP:BADCHARTS when removing the airplay chart from Hush Hush; Hush Hush eactly for that reason. To point out that because the single had already charted on Billboard Hot 100 it was considered bad practise to also include the aiprlay chart. (Lil-unique1 (talk) 17:13, 7 July 2009 (UTC))
- pardon me i did mean to refer to WP:record charts. sorry i got my rule pages confused. (Lil-unique1 (talk) 17:39, 7 July 2009 (UTC))

Top latino
[edit]"The problem is one of realism: top40-charts.com is run by mystery men, americatop100.com seems to be an amateur site. This leaves toplatino.net as the only set of Latin American charts with any credibility at all, and, should we delete them and list them on WP:BADCHARTS, there will no charts for South America. An entire continent lost. Not to mention an edit-war without end as the charts start getting removed from articles across Wikipedia, and plucky Latins keep putting them back in." [edit]Hi. You decided to go along with a SPER requesting a change to an external link on Clara Barton after I declined the request. I declined the request because the user name was the website name and the new page had pop-up advertising. [edit]As far as I could tell, he's constantly coming up with a new tactic. Besides editing Disney articles incessantly (especially Raven-Symoné pages), he's also starting to sneak up on other artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae and Christina Aguilera, always adding a bunch of unsourced information, most of them regarding Brazil and/or record sales. It's unbelievable—he already has like eight sockpuppets! And he probably thinks he won't ever get caught. Funk Junkie (talk) 01:41, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm suggesting we ask for mediation to help build teh guidance at Wikipedia:Notability (fiction). What I propose is that a mediator be the only person to edit the project page itself and be the one to guide discussion and discern consensus. I've proposed it at Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(fiction)#Mediation. As a past participant in the lengthy debates, I'd appreciate your input and hopefully your agreement. Component chart question
[edit]I understand that if a song fails to enter the main chart you use the component chart in the table. That part I understand. My question is should the component chart be mentioned under the "chart performance" section even if the song entered the main chart? [edit]I've changed the article Mariah Carey discography here User:Max24/Mariah Carey discography. Could you review it and take it from there? Max24 (talk) 00:09, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. You've been very helpfull. Max24 (talk) 08:36, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Re:Ashley Tisdale singles
[edit]The article is about the article is about the album, not the singles. Granted, content about the singles is often better off being discussed in the album article. However, the single covers have little to do with the album- knowing what Tisdale looks like pouting in front of a camera doesn't really aid a reader's understanding of the album. Using those covers there leaves us wide open to having a gallery of single covers on every album page, and if we're doing that, why not album covers on artist pages? Book covers on author pages? Every character on comic book pages? The use seems to go against both the significance and minimal use criteria in the NFCC. J Milburn (talk) 14:37, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- So you concede that the images aren't actually necessary in the article, but are merely placed there unless the single winds up notable in its own right? What if the albums are pretty minor, and are merged back to the artist page? Would you then support each album and single cover appearing on the artist page? We both know that "non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding", so how do those single covers increase understanding of the topic, which is the album? If the singles are not even worth covering, I fail to see how non-free images of their covers are justifiable, unless the covers themselves are in some way significant (which these ones clearly are not). J Milburn (talk) 15:00, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's pretty clear we're on the same "side", as it were, but the distinct difference between the single cover if used for identification and the single cover used in this manner is that, when used in a single article, it supposedly improves the understanding of the subject of the article in some way. However, the cover of the single does not increase the understanding of the album- the "article topic", and so what needs to be better understood for NFC to be usable- in that way. I certainly share your goal of keep nothing singles from having stub after stub, (I iniated a lot of mass AfDs back when notability was something I devoted a lot of time to) but I certainly don't think having numerous covers slapped into album articles is an acceptable compromise. If nothing else, it looks ugly- especially if the one line and full infobox is copied, you end up with several infoboxes, but only a few paragraphs (or even a paragraph and a list of singles) as text. Hey
[edit]I've fixed my user and talk page, so if you feel like it, check it out. and i've noticed youve notified a few users of my return,i dont mind i just want to asure you you have nothing to worry about, ill be true to my word. there are a few changes i would like to make.
MOVIE GROSSES-i would like to update the gross of the following films Up,17 again, the proposal, the hangover, night at the museum-battle at the smithsonian. I do not need to change the source just the figures.
And i would like to request the edit of a protected article so if you approve i would like you to back it up,to make it easier. As we know Max24 made edits to mariah carey discography ,this is the source he used for her total album sales on the top of the page[[2]] . I just noticced that right after the album sales number it says that she is the top selling female recording arist in history, i think that that line should be included right after her album sales bc i believe thats an accomplishment that should be mentioned....so the only line i would like to insert is this line and is the top selling female recording artist in history ' which is the current source max put there....let me know what u thiink...thanks!!!!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 23:00, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
there is also one more thing, in mariah careys number 1s album, i would like to add the fact that it sold 17 million copies ww using the same source max used...this is the source http://www.ticketspecialists.com/concerts/mariah_carey_tickets.htm#moreLink thanks!!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 23:12, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree on the "top selling female recording artist in history". If you must add this, it should be "one of the best selling female recording artists". For example Madonna or even Celine Dion sold more worldwide, so Carey can not be on top. That sentence is what every record label writes about their artists. Carey is big in the U.S. but outside the States her sales are weak (except Music Box). That's why the introduction on the discography page is focused on the U.S. Max24 (talk) 00:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
But Max that is what your source claims...your the one who provided that source not me...and remember wikipedia is built on verifiability not truth...and btw between us as ppl, mariah carey has sold over 200 million albums and sold just as much as madonna and celine....all the best!!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 19:31, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
I intended to write has,but i accidentally wrote hads as atypo,.thanks--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 21:35, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
OBSESSED-for the song obsessed by mariah carey i have found a review for the song from billboard that i think would be helpful to the article..i would like to include the review in the article and add this source http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/reviews-singles/obsessed-1003988222.story thanxs!!!!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 21:42, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Seems OK.—Kww(talk) 21:44, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
TRANSFORMERS 2- for the new transformers movie the current source cited is 200 million, but it has no source,so i have a source that says 250,so i would like to add the source and change the figure to 250,and change the gross to 169 Million, this is the source http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/2009/TFRM2.php --Petergriffin9901 (talk) 22:36, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Please Explain
[edit]I apologize but i understood not to revert and edit. The only thing i did was remove a line that is unsourced. You told me i was alowed to reword things and fix wording, just not figures. It has no source so i just removed it. Please if you can explain to me why that change was a problem...thanks--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 17:01, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I didnt even see his edit, i just looked at the page and saw a line of nonsense and removed it. If you view this as a revert then i apologize but then how am i supposed to make edits of wording if it'll revert a previous persons wording, then how can i do anything.the way your wording it pretty much restricts me from almost anything--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 17:05, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
More Changes for Approval
[edit]these figures are from the existing source. I would like to change the budget for transformers, i have done this previously but it was removed a last week.tranformers -200 million budget... http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=transformers2.htm ...my sisters keeper to 12 M and add the source- http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=mysisterskeeper.htm ....the taking of pelham 123 to -58M http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=takingofpelham09.htm ...terminator salvation-down to 323M bc its inflated http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=terminatorsalvation.htm ..thank you--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 17:23, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello kww, i wouldm like to remove an unsourced line thats a figure...this is the page My Love: Essential Collection its a celine dion page, at the end of the introduction paragraphs it says that it has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. This figure has no source and is just sitting there, so i would like to remove it, thanks and tell me what you think--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 01:10, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I was wondering if you could help and look at the article for Hannah Montana 3, the third soundtrack for Hannah Montana and see if you think it's all in line with guidelines. I am just asking someone with more experiences because I don't want to edit it an change something I shouldn't. I think that there is too much information there and the singles section lists almost every song from the album. I haven't edited it yet, but I was hoping maybe you could see if there is anything that shouldn't be there or anything that could be done to it to help it because it just doesn't look worded right and it looks too long. Hey
[edit]I noticed a while back you were a little confused as to why i would imporsonate a justar (who was in my position as well as a sockpuppeteer). The reason is very simple, i Already made like 4 accounts and they kept getting blocked, and i knew that i could easily be a sock and wont get caught unless i edit MC articles, but i kinda couldnt resist so i would always get caught. So i though, let me make a user name of a editor that i remember that long ago edited MC articles and make my user name similar so it wont draw attention to my edits, (example) if i chose you id amybe put, Kwww ,just to avoid extra attention, and the first name i remembered was Justar for some reason, so i used his name and switched it around. Little did i know that Justar was also making socks and acccused of the same stuff as me. So as you see i didnt intentionally imersonate another sockpuppeteer, just another editor so not to draw as much attention....I wanted to tell you this bc you were very kind to me, so i feel like your entitled to know whatever you want about my past socks, and i noticed you always wondered why, so heres your answer.....:D have a great night!!!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 05:36, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Question About a Source
[edit]Just wondering , would you say this is a reliable source http://www.undercover.com.au/News-Story.aspx?id=4687 ?Like would you allow this source to be placed on an article, or is it not reliable enough...please explain why yes or why not...THANKS!!!!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 18:26, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Would you say it is more or less reliable than this one http://www.ticketspecialists.com/concerts/mariah_carey_tickets.htm#moreLink ??thanks, and what do u think about the other thing i wrote u?--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 19:24, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, i dont mean to bother you but i would like to use the undercover source over the other one for a few sale amounts, they are mariah carey -daydream (mariah carey album)-25M instead of 22M Mariah Carey-Music Box (album)-32M instead of 28M and those two on the mariah carey discography and also these on the discography charmbracelet-4.2M to 5M ,butterfly-12 to 15.5M teom-10 to 10.2 M
thanks,if you approve the changes that will be great, thanks --Petergriffin9901 (talk) 23:43, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Mariah Carey Albums
[edit]Music Box (album) Hey kww, someone changed the source for the total sales of the album on this page and replaced it with this http://rateyourmusic.com/list/Marek34/mariah_careys_best_albums/ . Not only doesnt this source seem reliable, its not even correctly quoted, it says 30M yet the article says 26. I personally dont think its a reliable source, so if you could help me and either revert it or fix the figure that would be great. (the original source it had said 28M ww.
Daydream (album) The article says 20M sold worldwide, but the source says 22M, please give me clearance to fix the mistake.
Butterfly (album) The article says 10M sold worldwide, but the source says 12M.
Rainbow (album) The article says 8.5M sold worldwide, but it soesnt have a source, so i would like to add this one http://www.ticketspecialists.com/concerts/mariah_carey_tickets.htm#moreLink which is being used by her other articles and you have cleared it before. And the source i would like to add says 9M worldwide, so i would like to modify that as well.
Glitter (album) I would like to add the fact that the album has sold 3.5M ww to the article and add this source http://www.ticketspecialists.com/concerts/mariah_carey_tickets.htm#moreLink .
Charmbracelet (album) I would like to add the fact that the album has sold 4.2M ww to the article and add this source http://www.ticketspecialists.com/concerts/mariah_carey_tickets.htm#moreLink .thank you for your help, i would like clearance on all of these, but the first one (music box) i would like you to do,bc its a bit complicated...thanks!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 05:49, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I dont understand. If the approved source that is in the article(one that has been approved by Max24 and yourself)says 22M and someone just feels like vadalizing and writing 20M,why is that something to debate on a talk or discussion page?surely creating false numbers contradicting a given source constitutes as vandalizm, and requires warnings or blocking--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 15:12, 13 July 2009 (UTC)?

Mariah Carey Discography
[edit]hey kww, the above mentioned page has been protected since May 30th which means its been protected for over 6 weeks already. Do you think you can help me request it be changed from full protect to only a semi protection?.I await your reply,thanks!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 05:52, 15 July 2009 (UTC

Well, no not yet she hasnt, but there are many little wording tweeks that need to be made. And what is there to lose, that page was originally protected bc of me, but now thats not a problem. So whats there really to lose? And she will be releasing a new album in a month, and her single obsessed is already charting. Its already at number 11 on the HOT 100.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 16:48, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Opinion
[edit]Hi your definately a clued up user who has edited many articles. I would like to ask your opinion regarding something.
Is it ok to include a list of recorded tracks on an album page if the album has yet to be released? By this i mean a list of songs that have viable sources e.g. billboard, rap-up.com etc.
additionally i would like to get your opinion on edits i have made to Elope (album). User Cornucopia feels that they are unhelpful and keeps editing them. His/her behaviour is getting a little over-powering because he/she does not seem to accept edits from other users. My editions to the article were aimed at aligning some of the info better and making the article more consistant.
Your views would be appreciated. (Lil-unique1 (talk) 16:54, 15 July 2009 (UTC))

BADCHARTS
[edit]Argentina Singles Top 100 isn't listed as bad chart and it explains its methodology above of the page. Chilean Singles Top 100 is the realest chat about Chile. Why don't you want to put what Latin America's listening? xenophobia? racism? egocentrism? wikipedia is not an encyclopedia, it is a tyranny now.--HC 5555 (talk) 19:46, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
"La Lista que crea el Top 100 Argentina es un recopilatorio el cual está basado en airplay radial, televisivo, ventas, popularidad, ringtones, además de otros factores que cada semana varían y se modifican en el Ranking. Los datos que proporcionamos no son 100% verificables, pero tratamos de mantener la máxima precisión, razonamiento y objetividad posible.
Conteo únicamente válido para el territorio argentino, el cuál incluye sólo música que rota en el mismo."
That mostly says that it is based on radio airplay (Cadena 3, FM Digital Corrientes, FM88, Los 40 Principales, Mega, Radio 21, Radio Canal, Radio Disney, Rock & Pop, Siempre FM, among others important radios), television (Much Music, MTV, CMTV, VH1, Pop & Rock), digital sales (Baja Música, Personal Música, 10Musica), popularity (TV performances on local shows, influence on pop culture, artists that visit the country and do promotion), ringtones (Ringtones.com, Toing, Bip). http://lascaderasnomientenfansclub.blogspot.com/2009/07/loba-debuta-en-la-posicion-numero-30-en.html http://en.bepfanclub.com.ar/news/2009-06-10-130 http://foro.univision.com/univision/board/message?board.id=shakira&message.id=778407 http://shakira-barranquilla.blogspot.com/2009/07/shakira-con-la-loba-se-empieza-sentir.html http://foro.univision.com/univision/board/message?board.id=paulinarubio&message.id=455728&page=2 http://conteosdelmundo.foros.ws/t13884/argentina-singles-top-100-2009/ http://www.musik.com.ar/foro/index.php/topic,19365.0.html--HC 5555 (talk) 23:35, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
—Preceding unsigned comment added by HC 5555 (talk • contribs) 17:14, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
Re:Talk to Charmed36, don't edit war
[edit]He unnecessarily removed an additional The Fame cover, and a revamped singles section that took me quite awhile to write, without good reason. That certainly constitutes vandalism, and I'm pretty sure the level 1 warning assumes good faith. As you can see, I have only reverted his edits twice; I am well aware of the three-revert rule. Pokerdance (talk/contribs) 03:17, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Come to the talkpage of Talk:The Fame#Singles section and lets discuss this huge change before another edit war starts. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:53, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
Can you take a look at this article? I have a feeling that a lot of unreliable sources are there in the article, but whenever I try to remove it, its primary contributor User:Tikkuy comes and reverts everything. The user is plagiarising the original critical reviews etc and modifying to suit the song in a positive way. --Legolas (talk2me) 10:01, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
Re:Right, but wrong, too
[edit]Thanks for your imput on the issue on the Anastacia discography. "I Can Feel You" is the first Anastacia song to chart in Australia since the whole digital and physical chart was reconised. Im guessing "I Can Feel You" charted somewhere in the top 200 and so I added a dash because it is not reconised that it charted on the main singles 100, since it hasn't. But it is not a very important issue to address anymore since it is only a chart position and they have little importance in discography articles. But some users seem to like to make a fuss about minor non-important edits, but they do not seem to effect Wikipedia much xD. FumblingTowardsEcstasy (talk) 11:10, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Holly Valance
[edit]Hi. I know you deal with music charts quite a bit, so I'm hoping you can help. A new user is attempting to add an additional chart of two songs that were supposedly released by Holly Valance. They claim both songs charted in the UK and Australia (they first tried to claim they charted in the States, but a quick visit to Billboard.com cleared that up), and after I left them a note about sources, they're citing australian-chart.com as their source. Unless I'm missing something, I'm not seeing either song as charting or even being released. Would you mind having a look and giving me your opinion on the matter? Many thanks. Pinkadelica♣ 06:29, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Great, just wanted a second opinion. Thanks for removing the chart...twice. Pinkadelica♣ 16:30, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Fandalism...that's one I never heard before! (S)he wasn't even inflating Valance's positions, they were flat out lying - twice. Again, thanks for your help. Charts give me such headache because of "fans" like this. Pinkadelica♣ 16:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Uff. I've given Dewan a week off - thanks for the note. EyeSerenetalk 14:48, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced about unblocking. This was the edit I blocked for, where not much more than an hour after the page protection and talk-page warning (and having been notified of the ANI thread two days ago, so presumably aware of the other problems he was causing), he reinstated the edit that was causing the dispute. The evidence points to him being something of a POV edit-warrior, and we've got plenty of those already on India/Pakistan articles. Previous short blocks have clearly been ineffective, so I think a zero-tolerance policy is the next step. EyeSerenetalk 16:18, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Welcoming sockpuppets
[edit]Hi there. I use Huggle to place those welcome messages. I always look at the talk page before placing one, but I don't look at the user page, so missed the sockpuppet banner. I suppose this means I will occasionally welcome someone who hasn't shown much interest in being a useful editor. But I don't see that it causes any harm: there's a possibility that someone who abuses their account will read it and learn from the message how to contribute usefully. In those cases where that is a woefully optimistic hope it matters little: they will simply ignore it and carry on doing what they're doing. For every one case like this I am welcoming several tens of good faith editors, often almost as soon as they make their first edit. And I think it's good to give people the guidance of the welcome message ASAP.
Let me know, on my talk page, if you take issue with that. --bodnotbod (talk) 17:03, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- No probs. I have edited the "welcome" message to err on the side of "here's some useful information on how to contribute usefully" rather than "hello, I'm sure you're lovely and we want you to stay". Regards, --bodnotbod (talk) 17:14, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Why are yo backing charmed36 up im mean like "this is unsourced, that is fake" blah, blah, blah just what is your problem seriousy just for one secound think about, havent you ever though that it may beome the next single because like i said, why whould she make the video and post it on a album if it was cancelled? Look i don't want us to fight about this kk but please think what would happen if it was re-released, you would look like idiot because you once deleted the page just because a gay friend asked you to back him up, And i don't know truly if the artwork is real or fake that's what im finding out during this discussion honest, seriously please just think about.Ladgy (talk) 07:26, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

I have reached my 1RR limitations on Fly with Me (song) for today. Regardless, there is a user who seems to be removing information and references with poor reasoning. Since his removal was in good faith, reverting would be a breach of my agreement with Toddst1. I will give him a warning, but I would appreciate it if you could revert his edit so I do not receive another edit-warring block. Thank you. POKERdance talk/contribs 02:30, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Hey kww, i have been successful for around 45 days on the probation, so do you think its possible to give a longer leash?like how about this, ill still have to show you sources first before i add them, but if there is a clear vandalizm i would like to be able to revert it. I mean all the pages i fix anonymous IPs come and put false numbers against the source. Let me know what you think about this idea?.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 21:13, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Mistake on Lady Gaga
[edit]I'm sorry for the misguided edit I made to Lady Gaga, I wasn't aware of the purpose of img alt. Out of curiosity, though, if one is visually impaired enough that they cannot see the picture with enough clarity to understand what it is, how is the tiny text of the img-alt going to help them? They won't be able to read it. Neil Clancy 17:21, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Beatles' supposed one-billion-plus sales record also reflects an estimate of the number of songs, not albums, according to trackers of such landmarks. Other performers, such as AC/DC, Julio Iglesias and ABBA, supposedly are members of the 200 million album club, but compiled sales figures put their respective totals closer to 100 million.

Songs
[edit]After seeing your reverts to my edits to Attack (30 Seconds to Mars song) and A Beautiful Lie (song), I'd like to say that those genres are actually NOT sourced, the genres I placed for those songs are the genres that were originally the ones for the article, the source does not state that directly the genre for those songs, instead it describes one of the five genres the band plays. • GunMetal Angel 18:05, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

these are the only point i am trying to state
i dont think we should place Jackson in a separate table entry between the Elvis/Beatles section and the ABBA section, with a range of sales of 350M to 750M beacause if your read everting above it tell you elvis and beatles have not sold this much
even the wall street jounal article you keep bringing up says they have not sold this much
we should either change elvis or the beatles sales or change michael jackson sales back to how they orginaly were
i can see the sales will never change beacuse people are treating them differntly to michael jackson
And we can not use Recording Industry Association of America beacuse the only state usa sells
i am just saying we should never treat people on list of best selling music artist differently even if you not a fan of them or you are —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.156.126.203 (talk) 13:48, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Petergriffin9901
[edit]In my opinion Petergriffin9901 doesn't deserve a second chance to edit Wikipedia on his own. He has just made edits to The Adventures of Mimi Tour and Celine Dion albums discography which I reverted. On both articles he had removed/changed sourced informations. I'm bringing this to your atention. Max24 (talk) 08:41, 01 September 2009 (UTC)
Recent Edits
[edit]Hey kww, I can explain my recent edits to you. For my edit to Emancipation of Mimi Tour I removed the final number for total tickets sold and for total money earned, the reason is beacause the tour had 40 dates, and in that section its only adding around 27 give or take. So if it says 360,000 tickets thats only counting around 27 out of 40 dates making that final number for total gross and ticket sales not reliable, thats the only reason i removed it. Does that make sense?
And for the second thing for Celine Dion Discography some of the album sales I changed were wrong and the source had said something different. For one specific one the my love album, the last one on the list said 1.5 million and on the albums actual page, you once let me change it from 1.5 to 1.2 because the numbers didnt add up, so I just changed it because it was preveiously reviewed and accepted by you, and its even on my and your talk page. And finally there was maybe maybe one album on that list that had no source mentioning its anything about its final sales so I digged throught he history to the last true version by Max24 and put what number was there, I can tell you which revision on that page it is if youd like. And absolutely none of the figures there were on Max24s previous revision and none of then have real or accurate sources, just mostly ISBN numbers that cant be accessed. Look at his reversion on 20:06 on June 6, for some reason Max24 has changed all of these sales without adding a reliable source we can verify. Thanks and let me know what you think!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 21:16, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Its not that I believe that books are not valid, but I dont think that an isbn number is an adequate source considering you cant even access that section of the book or make sure the information is accurate. I mean i can write that celine sold a billbion records and give an isbn number and you wouldnt be able to access that information to see if its true, unless you bought the find and read the book. It shouldnt be accepted espcially with something so fragile and changeable as a sales number.....Ive been looking around and I saw someone put this source for a sales for an album, before i change it i would like for you to tell me if this source is reliable.. http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/prnewswire/press_releases/California/2009/07/14/LA46596 --Petergriffin9901 (talk) 21:32, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
I tried looking through the isbn number of these books and it brought me to a wiki page for book sources, I tried putting the numbers in and it didnt bring me to any page or anything discussing it. This is the first time ive dealt with book souces, and I tried to see them but it didnt work. I figured it to be just a fake source so I put them to the original way. If you tell me that they do work then yes i went to far and I apologize, but i really didnt see any source with those isbn numbers.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 21:49, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Just to have this clear, which of the many isbn numbers do u want me to look through. And what is it you want me to do?look at the book and then what, tell u if i find the figures?and you still havent answered my other questions.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 01:28, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Hey kww, just wondering, why are u convinced this book by jenna is reliable?i mean why are her sales numbers accurate?and I would just like to list the questions
- I explained to u why i removed some info fom the The Adventures of Mimi Tour and u seemed to not have a problem with it, so Can i change it to the way it is, do u approve of the change i made giving the reason i presented u?
- And is the source i showed u reliable for the numbers of album sales.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 10:07, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- No, you can't change The Adventures of Mimi Tour to your version. Every other artist has a Box Office Section with ticket sales and gross from concerts. And also every other atist has the missing data as not all the figures are reported to Billboard. For example Celine Dion's Taking Chances Tour has only half of her shows reported and the table is still there. You want to remove the data when you're missing 10 dates? Dion is missing 70 dates and the data is still there. And that goes for other artists too. The real reason why you want to remove it is that Mariah gross/sales is not impressive. The table shows which shows are reported so there is no reason for removing the summary. If you have another source from Billboard or Pollstar which says that the gross was bigger, you can add this in the lead section of the article. Max24 (talk) 11:17, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- And about the source of bizjournals.com. If you would do a little searching you would know that even Reuters wrote that Lady Gaga has sold more than 20 million digital singles, and the album has sold over three million copies worldwide.[12]. But you don't want to do this. You're obsessed with discrediting other artist than Mariah Carey. I see you're doing it with Lady Gaga, Celine, Shakira, Madonna and Whitney Houston. In my opinion, you should be banned from editing Wikipedia for good. Max24 (talk) 11:17, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- You are going too far, Max. You can't make such strong statements about Petergriffin9901's motives. Also, I'll dig into the tour info: if there's no source for information, that should be removed across the board, regardless of the artist.—Kww(talk) 12:00, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Well Max24, this is why I am under the probation of a fair and just editor, not some celine loon. And to shut your hate I would change it on celines tour as well if id have seen it. And its up to kww decision whether it can be changed or not, not some loony celine fan. And if i choose to ask kww about a source that is non of your business, im under probation to learn, did it ever occur to you that maybe id like to know how to judge a source and learn to be able to tell between a fansite and a relible source. Of course not because your to involved hating and being a disgrace to wikipedia. Im sorry kww, but im quite shocked about this, well ill be sure not to screw up again, and then i will be set free and I will laugh at your pathetic wimpering max, and just for you to know kkww, even after im set free, i will still come to you because it seems that unfortunately thjere are few sane editors left.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 13:37, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Hey kww, I dont really mean to bother you, but did you get a chance to review my questions?and I apologize for my earlier message, I dont want your talk page to become a battlefield, I just didnt expect that kind of disrespect or those outrageous claims.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 17:51, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Kww, you have said that I went too far. Hasn't Petergriffin9901 done the same with: "Celine loon," "hating and being a disgrace to wikipedia," "pathetic wimpering," "sane editors"?
- If you need any help with tours and other stuff, I will gladly help you with all I know. Max24 (talk) 22:49, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
I have crossed the line with substantial reason. You have addressed me without the respect one wiki editor deserves to another. If you had a problem about my edits you should have discussed it without writing all that slander about me. From the beginning you have been rude and a hater, and all I have ever done is give you the respect I expected to be given in return. Your hatred provoked me and I retaliated.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 23:45, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know what you mean by "From the beginning you have been rude and a hater". It's you who have been blocked for his edits and behaviour, not me. There was no excuse for you to call me all these names, especially that Kww already reacted on that. Max24 (talk) 00:29, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
I'll try to be clear, here: both of you stop it. Stop it on my talk page, stop it on other talk pages, stop it everywhere. Both of you have crossed the line, and you are talking about each other's motives instead of the material at hand. Both of you need to be a bit more dispassionate. It should be difficult to tell from your editing which artists you listen to, and which you dislike. It should be hard to tell which editors you like, and which you don't. The reason I come across as fair is simple: I would never buy a song by any of these people. Couldn't even imagine doing so. They occasionally appear on TV, and I frequently hit the "mute" button when they do. Most music I listen to is from people that have been dead for decades, and I don't expect that to change. Still, it keeps me from being seen as favoring one artist over another. You should both strive for exactly the same thing.
Petergriffin9901, you have specifically gone to far by dropping into name-calling. I can see why Max24's comments about your motives pissed you off, but there's no reason to go there. Max24, I've already cautioned you about impugning Petergriffin9901's motives, and I hope you took that to heart. You both need to read WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA. —Kww(talk) 00:46, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Celine Dion sales figures
[edit]I know that you are deep into Celine Dion, so I'm asking you this. I'm looking at a dispute between two editors, and the material is sourced to Jenna Glatzer's "Céline Dion: For Keeps". Do you happen to own a copy?—Kww(talk) 13:15, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- I had a copy, but I no longer have access to one. Sorry. But I can't believe that people are arguing over sales, and such trivial differences (11.5 vs 12 million copies? Are they serious?. Orane (talk) 03:15, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- The only reason that it's a serious matter is that Petergriffin9901 is under some pretty heavy editing restrictions due to a previous history of changing figures without good cause. He was unblocked after an indefinite ban only by accepting me as a parole officer, and I have to look into complaints against him seriously. I think I have this situation under control now. Thanks for your help.—Kww(talk) 03:19, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. If you need anything else just ask. If I can, I'll try to obtain a copy to help settle the dispute. Orane (talk) 02:50, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Obsessed
[edit]Czech charts I didn't know they had one as I've never seen it on any other song page. When I click the citation it's an Airplay chart though? Jayy008 (talk) 20:42, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Ashley Tisdale discography
[edit]Hello. There have been few disagrees between few users, including me, about the inclusion of Tisdale's chart positions on her discography for her featured songs on High School Musical soundtracks. I would appreciate if you give your opinion here. Thanks so much. Decodet (talk) 22:55, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Its Taking Forever
[edit]Hey kww, which page are you talking about? The Adventures of Mimi ?If so that is the problem none of those figures have appropriate sources--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 23:46, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Look at The Adventures of Mimi now. It took me a lot of time but I've found the direct sources for the gross - the Billboard online magazines. I have also put the Toronto shows in one position as that's how they were reported to Billboard. Hope my effort saved you some time :) --Max24 (talk) 10:48, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Well would you look at that Max24, from your sources it appears each of Mariahs shows were actually as successful as celines. That means my motives you mentioned earlier were not true. Hey kww, dont worry about it, really the only thinng I believed to be changed was instead of saying total sales or total ticket sales I put a - . Whatever, kww thank you for the help and I will try and look into that ISBN to see it.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 17:05, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
I have a question kww, now that uve seen the page The Adventures of Mimi since the list only mentions 60 percent of the shows, can i remove the total seats sold and the total money earned and replace it with a - ?The reason its different that other tours bc in the first part of the page it says it earned 26 million this is not sourced, just taken from the addition of the list that lists only 60 percent of the shows...other tours such as the celine dion one max mentioned has a sourced amout for the amount mentioned in the beginning of the page, an amount 2x of the listed one down the page bc its as well only mentioning 60 percent of the shows....i hope this makes sense if u dont understand ill try and be more clear. thanks!--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 03:39, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Best way to mend this?
[edit]Hey! I need some advice. History & Talk:Shaka Rock; I don't even know how I got into this, there isn't even argument from the other side, just a claim that I am bias and then blatent POV reverts. I've gone through many explanations, made the guidelines clear, gone through the fact I'm not playing bias on the article, I know I'm right, but the idiot won't take no for an answer. He's removed Rolling Stone and replaced it with the likes of Hard Rock Haven (?), just because RS is a negative review. So many single-use accounts, but I'm not really experienced in the whole Sockpuppet investigation deal, should I take it to WP:RFCU? Or just request WP:RPP? They'll probably send me to dispute reso but, and it's a pointless dispute. Best form of action? Thanks. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 05:52, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- I just don't get how anyone in their right mind can even imagine they're right in that situation. Thanks for the tip, I'll take it to RFC if he reverts again... so probably tomorrow. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 12:15, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- That was quick! Thank you very much. :) k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 02:21, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
I need your help to revise the article "Falling Down (Selena Gomez & the Scene song)" beacuse the user Ipodnano05 reverts my edits, please review the article and tell me what you think. -- Juanacho (talk) 03:05, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Talkback
[edit]The edits I made were constructive, I see no point in deleting that information. Look at WP:LEAD, the lead needs to summarize the article and right now it does NOT. Plus for a music video, saying when it was filmed is NOT bad. I was only trying to make the page better. I do understand that maybe saying it had mediocre charting is a little judgmental, but it wasn't a huge success (so isn't that worth mentioning). -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 03:57, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Another user removed all the description of the music video, please revert it because I will probaly be blocked if I do. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 04:01, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
I already posted a "Content dispute" section on the song's talk page. Please help there. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 04:07, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
?
[edit]Hey KWW, I'm puzzled by this revert. No source necessary? Does that applies to songs also? And here I am scrupulously trying to source even plot summaries of novels. I disagree, but you're done for the night and so am I. Welterusten, Drmies (talk) 04:13, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Metacritic
[edit]Hey kww, I have recently been into metacritic.com as it is used in most album pages. It seems to be a very cool and interesting site, as it tells you an averaged basic score. Can you give me permission to place the metacritic score on any album, movie or computer or playstation game I would like, unless it already has it? All i would write is it recieved whichever score indicated, showing either mixed or average reviews or universal acclaim etc.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 05:51, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Help to settle
[edit]Would you please help settle two disputes on the talk for the album Kiss & Tell, Talk:Kiss & Tell (Selena Gomez & the Scene album). One the track listing format and another the genres in the infobox. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 17:11, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
