"CommonsHelper will not allow move"

On File:Eclaireurs français.svg and File:Eclaireurs français neutres.png does it say why not? I'd like to help fix it, and avoid it in the future if I can.--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 14:12, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

It's saying that it doesn't have a valid license to move to Commons, although Template:anonymous-EU seems valid there. Logan Talk Contributions 20:57, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Question

Hi logan, i wanted to try out on an inconsequential article, it was 3 years without citations, and made up. Thanks for letting me know anyway, I'm not new to wiki but I've become fed up with how far it has wandered from it's original purpose. DarkShroom (talk) 16:11, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Question 2

Hi Logan,

You have reverted a change I made to the Wikipedia page for Eileen Nearne. I removed the section mentioning Heir Hunters and Fraser and Fraser as it was not accurate. In fact the closest blood relative of Ms Nearne has never spoken with F+F and has issued a press release through another firm, Kin.

Please allow these changes to be made.

Many thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.185.209.165 (talk) 13:05, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Adscape logo.png

Thank you for uploading File:Adscape logo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Acather96 (talk) 20:12, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Text logos

As I have just retagged about 30 of the ones you uploaded. Please check out {{PD-textlogo}}, images that contain nothing other than simple geometric shapes and text can be tagged with that template and the {{trademark}} template. --Terrillja talk 22:40, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Yet again, another text logo. Please read the links I left above and tag the logos appropriately. --Terrillja talk 00:38, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
File:Google Wifi.png is perfect. Source, textlogo and trademark templates, nothing else. Since it's public domain, it doesn't need the fair use rationale that you added to some other images along with the pd-textlogo template. All that is needed for a text logo is just the three things mentioned above. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a massage on my talkpage.--Terrillja talk 03:14, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:TruVista logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:TruVista logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:06, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Image tagging for File:GpItalia1954.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:GpItalia1954.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Replaceable fair use File:Cheng yen.gif

Thanks for uploading File:Cheng yen.gif. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 01:57, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Grooveshark logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:Grooveshark logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. On removal of contents in KAET

I am writing to you on this subject because you were involved in reverting these edits before.

After running a WHOIS search on the IPs involved in removing sections about KAET's financial crisis, I have discovered that these IPs originate from the networks of Arizona State University. It should be noted that KAET is controlled by the Arizona Board of Regents, and is an extension of Arizona State University for all intents and purposes. With that, it is almost certain that those involved in removing the content without consensus are a part of KAET.

Due to my past ties with KAET, I feel it would be awkward for me to revert the edits on my own. Therefore, I am asking for help. What can we do? Kiteinthewind Leave a message! 08:48, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles 05:12, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Why can't you use it on your other computer? WAYNEOLAJUWON 23:13, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Well, this computer is a Mac, and it doesn't work natively on Macs. I tried Wine, but it's not seamless. Logan (talk) 23:14, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
You could also try Igloo in the meantime if you want. WAYNEOLAJUWON 23:18, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Rollback

Regarding this diff, please don't revert it if the original author blanks the page. Instead, tag it under CSD G7. --Addihockey10e-mail 04:16, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

The page was already up for speedy deletion under A10. It doesn't matter if the original writer blanked it. Logan Talk Contributions 04:19, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but the point is you warned him for his Good Faith version of "deleting" it himself. You could tag it for A10 again as well, but in general when an author blanks it just tag it under G7. --Addihockey10e-mail 04:22, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
I can't look back at the history right now, but you might be right. I wasn't sure if substantial content was added in between the first edit and the blanking, and thus I only reverted it. Huggle would've told me if he/she was the only editor on the page for most cases. Logan Talk Contributions 04:24, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Just FYI, when I used to use Huggle, if a page was blanked and ClueBot didn't revert it; there's a large chance it was the author that blanked it. Always double-check though. Happy editing! --Addihockey10e-mail 04:27, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Maths rating

When you add the "maths rating" tag to a talk page, please take the time to fill in all three of the assessment parameters, as the template documentation explains. We already have a list of mathematics articles that is updated by a bot and does not require any talk page tags. So there is no benefit in adding the talk page tag if you do not fill in the rating information. If you don't feel comfortable adding the rating information, that's OK; you can leave off the talk page tag entirely, and the math project will still be aware of the article. — Carl (CBM · talk) 17:48, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I have asked him to stop but he will not. Can you tell him to?--God (Pray) 03:47, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

First of all, please do not make legal threats against other editors. It does not help the situation. Secondly, all TheFarix did was link to a discussion on his talk page. He did not attribute the comments to himself. There is nothing in the policy that prevents those actions, nor is it considered inappropriate for Wikipedia. He is already preparing a WP:ANI report against you, so you'd better apologize quickly if you do not want this situation to get any worser. Logan Talk Contributions 03:50, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

You seem to have removed a few necessary parts here ([[2]]). (a) Arriving at school early isn't really a marker of attendance, and engagement is the technical word for interest; (b) we don't use titles on encylopedia pages; (c) I'm a bit iffy on using commas in 4 digit numbers; (d) we're moving to using infobox school (see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Education_in_Australia#Issues_with_Infobox_school.

Adding a name to a disambiguation page

Thank you for your note about "articles": "Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did with this edit to Robert Beck, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article." If you had looked at that new entry to a disambiguation page(not an article) you would have seen that it referenced the article about medical use of silver. Do disambiguation lists usually have external references appended ?. I think not....--Tumadoireacht (talk) 04:16, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

The person to whom you linked does not have an article on Wikipedia, and the red link is not linked to by any other article. Your addition was removed as per MOS:DABRL. Either write an article about the doctor with reliable, verified sources, or leave the entry out of the list. Logan Talk Contributions 04:25, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
It would make more sense to leave his name on the list and to leave his name on the suggested articles list so that those inclined or curious could be aware of his existence and his work even if it is poorly regarded by mainstream medical. Can anyone "start" an article ?--Tumadoireacht (talk) 07:49, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
As I said, there must be an article with sufficient notability about this doctor for his name to even be considered to be put on the disambiguation page. I would recommend putting his name on the suggested articles list, and if an article is created, feel free to add him to the disambiguation page. Logan,

For some time I proceeded to change all my files with watermarks, but it will take me a while because I have fulfilled many of my images at the beginning of my participation in the project Wiki and Commons. But this time the rules were not same as today. Thus, I regularly made the change of these images by reloading a file without watermark in the same file name. It seems that although the images have been charged, they still appear in their first appearance.

If you can help me or give me an idea to save time in the process it would be nice to me. Best regards.

COZ Comics and related artists removal

Hi Logan You have recently removed new listings for 'COZ comics' (publishers) 'Tobbe Blanchard', 'Ted Wells' and 'Lisa Wells' (artists). I have read the guidlines regading self publishing but others that have your approval are really no different than us and I am wondering why you have done this without at least contacting me first. I wish to appeal this decision on the basis that all that are concerned with COZ Comics are, in every way, as much published and talented artists as any that are featured on this wiki. Also bear in mind that we are a non-profit group and exist solely to launch artists and writers that have been stifled in the past due to bias or reasons other than their own talent.

Ref converter

Please be careful when converting reference templates. It seems that your edits at Country Liberal Party, England national football team, Germany, and Modern Hebrew phonology come with the assumption that any use of {{ref}} and {{note}} is to create footnotes, which has been superceded by {{reflist}} (or <references>). However, a number of places use those first two templates to create explanatory notes that are separate from the footnotes. The information at {{ref label}} and {{note label}} show that there is consensus in reusing {{ref}} and {{note}} this way and User:Cyde/Ref converter also stresses the importance of respecting this distinction. I've undone the relevant edits to the above articles, though you should go through any other pages you've been using ref converter on to make sure you haven't untowardly made the same assumption elsewhere. — Ƶ§œš¹ [aɪm ˈfɹ̠ˤʷɛ̃ɾ̃ˡi] 05:17, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Please don't move pages in my userspace without discussing with me first. The reason I set up my talk pages the way I did is that I realized I was often leaving edit/move/deletion summaries saying "See User talk:Rjanag#something", and when I archived my page a few months later those links no longer point to a discussion. This way I can make a direct link that will still work after the page is archived. rʨanaɢ (talk) 23:51, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi Logan. You inserted a wikify tag which asks for internal references on the subject article. Since they exist, I am not sure what you are asking for. Regards Greg Hume (talk) 12:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

However, there is a lack of relevant internal links in the article (this is also mentioned in the template). Logan Talk Contributions 15:39, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Got it - I normally focus on getting the external references right and don't use many internal links. 5 additional internal links were added to the article. Greg Hume (talk) 16:26, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Francis Allotey

Hello Logan. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Francis Allotey, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Consider AfD, if you like - I'm not sure it would pass there. I found a number of references to the "Allotey formalism" but they all read rather as though they had come from one press release, and it isn't mentioned in Scholar, though he has some papers there. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 13:42, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

It is vandalism to remove a copyright infringement?

No, it is not, but it is vandalism to remove a large amount of content without putting your reasoning in the edit summary. Logan Talk Contributions 23:34, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

No actually it isn't. There is no rule that everything is vandalism without an edit summary.

I never said that. I said that it is vandalistic behavior to remove a large amount of content without placing an edit summary. Sometimes, edits can go unsummarized. Logan Talk Contributions 23:36, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

reverts on Ollie P. Roberts

Hi Logan, As the IP editor you reverted put in his edit summary, the edit wasn't vandalism, he was cleaning up a copyright violation. Please be careful when labeling an edit as vandalism. It can cost us valuable contributers. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 00:07, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

However, I did not remove the edits when the user had an edit summary. As you can see from the history, I only reverted when the contributor had removed the link without explanation in the summary, leading me to believe that it was vandalism. Logan Talk Contributions 00:08, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Ah, I see how you missed it. If you look at the article log, you can see that he removed it with an edit summary, got reverted, removed it with an edit summary again, got reverted by cluebot, removed it again (this is one persistent anon), but forgot the edit summery the third time, and then you reverted it. I can certainly understand the mistake, but do try to be careful. Just imagine how we must look now, putting back copyvios in articles, after he removed them (and gave a good reason for it), a bunch of times in a row. And then reporting him at AIV for it. I know it's a lot of hard work in the trenches, and you seem to be doing a great job there. It can seem that almost all edits are vandalism. But we really don't have to forget a lot of anons are also doing a lot of good work improving wikipedia. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 00:18, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
I understand. I will be more careful in the future. Sorry about that mistake. Logan Talk Contributions 00:19, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Unsourced re: Gibson?

Are you kidding? Please go to talk page. This is not the proper way of handling edits/reverts. 63.131.4.149 (talk) 03:38, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Yes, in fact, it is. We do not handle edits regarding BLPs' religions without having a reliable source to back up the edits. Furthermore, the user did not specify exactly what should be changed, which is clearly forbidden in the {{editprotected}} template. Logan Talk Contributions 03:41, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

There are more than one "well-known" Jon Gibson's. Just because the way you searched it didn't yield many, doesn't make it less valuable. Here are some sources per ANOTHER revert before finishing. That shouldn't have been done so soon with the reason "not sourced", therefore also removing the two other good edits again. Research, and read articles, etc.

His sinuous soul voice and intuitive way with words and music brought the singer to the attention of artists like Stevie Wonder and MC Hammer who guested on his records. [3]

It was during those old Solar days that Jon and Michael Jackson worked together on a song called SO SHY as special guests on Bill Wolfers first solo album entitled WOLF, also a Solar/Constellation release. Bill worked with Michael on the albums OFF THE WALL and THRILLER and previously toured with the Jacksons as a keyboardist on their VICTORY TOUR. During the recording of Jon's first solo album, STANDING ON THE ONE, Bill Wolfer introduced Jon to a new friend, Stevie Wonder. Jon went on to make his next record. ON THE RUN, which was well received rendering his first number one single on Christian radio entitled GOD LOVES A BROKEN HEART. [4]

After returning from service in the Army at age 20, Gibson was signed to Dick Griffey's new Constellation label. For days Griffey had great fun tricking a number of his Solar artists with Jon's tape (they thought it was Wonder). Jon's debut came as a guest vocalist for 3 songs on Bill Wolfer's Wolf album. During the process of making that album, Jon met his musical idol, Stevie Wonder, and worked with a crew of great musicians, including Michael Jackson. Wolfer returned the favor the next year by producing Gibson's debut album, Standing on the One. It was a fine debut, showing that Gibson was more than a Wonder-clone, and that he had songwriting skills to go with his great voice. [5]

Blue-eyed soulster Jon Gibson's instincts and songwriting made his too-close-for-comfort Stevie Wonder-like vocals worth tolerating. His later albums are the better, as Gibson evolved into a vocal style more his own. The songs and production are improved as well. [6] Jon?s first record deal was with Solar Records in 1983 where he worked with both Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. [7]

P.S. You also undid two other edits, are you guys paying attention to the entire edit? Using a "tool" again perhaps? See talk page for discussion going on and sources. Thanks!! 63.131.4.149 (talk) 04:08, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

What mostly bothered me about your edit was your addition of POV statements such as "Jon met his musical idol." This is an encyclopedia, not a news report. Logan Talk Contributions 04:11, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Guy, look, many articles express this type of sentiment. It's really a minor point. That isn't "promoting Gibson", if anything it's promoting Wonder. So first it's a source issue, now it's a POV issue? I mean, there is no consistancy on here. I didn't just lay back and let it go on without showing others that nothing in a nutshell and technically is wrong with it. So say that in the first place, or remove that, but you undo 3 good edits and that in my opinion is what is disruptive and counterproductive. I always argue my point and defend myself and then look back and think, what a waste of time, if only they had took time to inquire about it, or look deeper into it, and whatnot. It's very upsetting and frustrating, I'm sure it's why people give up on here and become "vandals". It's too bad. But about the edit, to say someone who saw him as his idol got to record with him on an edit about a collaboration is very petty and trivial to say the least. Sorry if that doesn't agree with your thinking, but it's the truth. Compared to so many other things mentioned within articles, that is very very minimal. Cus I'm a nice guy, I copied the text from the sources in the talk page since it appears many don't read the actual source, they just decide if they like what site it comes from or not. IDK? Thanks... P.S. The encylopedia shouldn't just stay current, it should have history and that's apart of it. Why only include "big moments" or what you think is acceptable and not? I don't get that. 63.131.4.149 (talk) 04:47, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

AFD closure

Hi, can I request you to please change closure of this afd from speedy keep to keep as there is nothing speedy about it, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 18:46, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

If you want a decent closure you can add "keep - BLP was uncited for four years but has now been cited and as such notability has now been established." - Off2riorob (talk) 18:52, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Done Logan Talk Contributions 19:20, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I see you didn't add the rational? - if you would please add it, it is good especially as a non admin closer to explain what happened, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 19:23, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

It's pretty self-explanatory. You claimed that the person was not notable, but he turned up in many publications via Google Book Search, etc. Logan Talk Contributions 19:25, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Not really, the article had existed for four years uncited with no assertion of notability at all, I did a simple google search as I am required to and found nothing, please add that the long term uncited article was improved and cited, if you have an issue with adding a rational for some reason, I will ask an Admin to re-close, please add your rational, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 19:31, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Added. No need to threaten. Logan Talk Contributions 19:33, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Many thanks, its just that from my position I was working from the uncited BLP button reducing them and improving BLP articles. I did a simple search and after four years of it existing completely uncited that is fine (I am not a south american artist expert) and nominated. The article has been cited and improved which is really great but rationals that suggest a mistaken nomination is an unfair reflection of my actions and a simple rational of the reality clears that up in relation to possible future references, again, many thanks. I need some help

Hello, first of all let me say that I'm new on here so if I'm doing something wrong I apologize. I need your help with something. I stumbled into a page on Wikipedia that interests me, but is was kind of incomplete so I've changed it a bit by adding more info. Also I added 2 new links (the page has now 3 links to it from other Wiki pages) because I want to change the orphan status of that page but I don't really know how. And since you're the one who marked it as an orphan I thought I ask your help. :) The page is this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charley_Chase_(pornographic_actress). my disambiguate page

Please go ahead and delete it. I realise that all that is really needed is a template on the main page which directs to the possible alternate page. My mistake. What is the template that I should use in case anyone is interested in the book and not the main article? Snakeswithfeet (talk) 02:53, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. I think I fixed it through moving one article and templating them both. Snakeswithfeet (talk) 21:45, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually not so much! If one looks up "Blaming the victims" it automatically gets redirected to the book. [10] but I think someone should be given the opportunity to chose between assuming that the people are looking for the book or looking for the concept Victim blaming. "Blaming the victim" (singular} goes to victim blaming but "blaming the victims" (plural) goes to the book. I can't figure how to do this without deleting the redirect and making a new disambiguate page. Can you help? Sorry to be such a pita. Snakeswithfeet (talk) 21:57, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
I think I fixed it up. Just waiting on the move request at Blaming the Victims. Logan Talk Contributions 22:05, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

I saw you tagged this rather trivial article. As far as I know, the current content represents the sum of human knowledge on the subject. The tag does not help readers or editors. Do you have any views on what could be done to improve it? If so, please go ahead and make those changes and remove the tag. If you can see no way to improve it, please remove the tag. If you think the article is useless, by all means nominate it for AfD. Thanks, Aymatth2 (talk) 04:32, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

If you have a problem with tags in general, then feel free to bring that up at WP:RfC. AWB tagged this for wikification because it does not contain many internal links. Also, please don't use newbie-oriented comments - I have over 14,000 edits, and I think I know what Wikipedia stands for. Logan Talk Contributions 04:36, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
I can't see any meaningful internal links to add. The only possible ones are lightening and thunder, but anyone reading the article should understand what those words mean. Tags are o.k. if they point out a problem that can be fixed, although fixing the problem is better. In this case, I can see no value. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:25, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Osram

Hi, am trying to amend the page but first the bot then you reverted my changes. All I do is to write OSRAM in capitals as the company name is always written in CAPITALS. Refer to www.osram.com if you have doubts. OSRAM is registered like this and not as Osram. Thanks for reverting my change.

Your message: The recent edit you made to Osram constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Logan Talk Contributions 17:34, 13 January 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.74.38.174 (talk)

Sorry about that, 91.74.38.174. One of the reasons why your change was reverted was because you changed the Interwiki links to the other Wikipedia projects, where the title is Osram (not capitalized). I have proposed a move request so that the article will now be title OSRAM, as the company is registered as GmbH. Have you considered making an account? Logan Talk Contributions 20:38, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually, WP:MOSNAME pretty clearly states that trademark/advertising usage has no bearing on wikipedia capitalization. See IPod Touch for another example.--Terrillja talk 22:08, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Birthday committee

Hey there. It's great that you're actively wishing others happy birthday. But it's not really a good idea to be adding other users names to the calendar without their explicit permission, users are supposed to add themselves. Some users don't wish be listed and don't appreciate getting happy birthday messages (for whatever reason). I noticed you recently added several users to the calendar.. where were you getting this information from? -- œ 02:25, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Sorry - I searched this, and I added the users who stated their birthdays on their user pages, assuming that they wouldn't mind getting birthday messages in the case that they are public on their user pages. I won't do that in the future if it's against policy. Logan Talk Contributions 03:22, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Lagan (Band)

Hello Logan. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Lagan (Band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article claims importance/significance of the subject. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 23:27, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

I respectfully disagree. WP:BAND states the following for notability:

"Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read WP:BLP1E and WP:BIO1E for further clarifications)"

The article's only claim of notability is a song's inclusion in a movie. Logan Talk Contributions 23:41, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Criterion 2 of WP:BAND says that a band may be notable if the band "has had a single or album on any country's national music chart." According to the article,
Their popular songs include Main Yaad Aaonga and Udasi, hits in Pakistan.
I'm going to take the editor at his/her word, and assume that "hits" means that the bands' records were on the charts. If you don't agree, please feel free to PROD the article. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 23:48, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Reverse non-admin closure

Non-admins should not close contested AfD's, as you did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guru.com (2nd nomination). I am going to reverse your close and leave it to an uninvolved administrator to resolve. Jehochman Talk 14:13, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Question about deletion/merger

I see you closed a deletion review for Chromedome as a merger, which is good. Sadly two of the other characters from the same anime series were also up for a deletion nomination at the same time and they got a deletion result (there were votes either way, so it went with whatever the admin decided). I just wanted to merge them ALL into the same list of characters from that anime. Can you change the deleted ones to Merger too, so I can just merge them all? It really makes no sense to merge some and delete others, when they are all the character from the same anime, with practically the same notability and sources. The ones that got deleted were Brainstorm (Transformers) and Apeface. Mathewignash (talk) 22:01, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

However, Chromedome seemed (to me) to be more notable than the other characters. You should contact Courcelles, the admin who deleted those articles, to have them userfied so that the content can be merged into that list. Logan Talk Contributions 02:39, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for adding all of those to the articles. However, it doesn't look like you are formatting categories properly. To add categories to an article, you do them like a wikilink, i.e. [[Category:Living people]]. Logan Talk Contributions 22:29, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
