Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Miltiades the Younger, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Deterioration (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi I see you put this page up for deletion *(well added the tag to the page) but there is no entry into the articles for deletion page. Once you add the article to the deletion discussion page I will add my thoughts. Thanks for the notice. Golgofrinchian (talk) 23:41, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was a prod, not an AfD. Message left on Golgofrinchian's talk page. PKT(alk) 12:23, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Museums in Greater Moncton for deletion[edit]

Greetings, PKT, I am here to tell you that this Category:Museums in Greater Moncton is propose for deletion. This category is not enough to populate articles and it's the only museum in Moncton under WP:SMALLCAT. If you want to participate this discussion. There's the CFD link right here. I will see you at the CFD page. Steam5 (talk) 21:09, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is a future class for Canada-related articles[edit]

Just because you remove items from it doesn't mean that there isn't. Even when all items are removed, it's present. Category:Future-Class Canada-related articles --Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:51, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also see Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/Assessment "Future (for articles about future events; adds articles to Category:Future-Class Canada-related articles)" --Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:53, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Funny how it doesn't show up on Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/Assessment#Quality scale. "Future" quality doesn't make sense. PKT(alk) 12:32, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE:[edit]

Thank you for explaining that. SonicTheHedgehogDude "Sonic Forever 2012" 15:21, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I have removed your addition to Mark Ellis, as a Wikipedia disambiguation page is for listing Wikipedia pages with similar titles, not for listing all people/subjects with a specific name - so if there is no page to link to, we do not need a disambiguation entry. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:57, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK - cool. PKT(alk) 19:58, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Another Toronto Cinema[edit]

Although short-lived (ca 1970 - ca 1978), I think you might wish to include the Cinema Lumiere in your list. It was a small, independent theatre located on College Street about a block west of Spadina. Probably best labeled an "art house", Cinema Lumiere nevertheless showed such cult gems as George Romero's (original) The Night of the Living Dead. Still, more typical were showings of modern European films such as The Night Porter, The Conformist, and so forth. Gaussgauss (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:55, 21 March 2012 (UTC).[reply]

I presume you mean List of cinemas in Toronto, which isn't my list, but anyway - I have added Cinema Lumiere as you indicated. Please note you could have done so yourself. PKT(alk) 12:37, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cite Web/Sarnia Article[edit]

Thanks for helping me make the Sarnia article better, and for helping me proofread my cites! I want that NPOV tag removed so I'm trying to find cites for all of the information in the article. How am I doing so far? Any advice would be appreciated! Hey! I just noticed you're from Windsor. So you already KNOW about our famous fries!!! Next time you're up our way, drop me a line and we'll go get a plate of fries!TheKurgan (talk) 14:41, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I left Windsor for Toronto in 1980, probably before the fries trucks opened for business. I didn't know much beyond Windsor and Tecumseh in those years!

Hey, PKT. How do I get rid of a duplicated photo? I added a fab shot of "Sarnia From Space" that Chris Hadfield took in 2001. But it put in in Commons AND in some other place. NASA images are not under copyright. Can you please direct me on how to get rid of the non-Commons duplicate? Or do it if it's complicated and hard to explain? Thanks.TheKurgan (talk) 13:18, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can't help you much there. The rules and processes around photos are pretty arcane. However I do note that the photo used in the Sarnia article appears to be the non-Commons file - is it not? PKT(alk) 21:17, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but perhaps you can help[edit]

I noticed when you made this revert[1], you labeled it "vandal" in the edit summary. Can you tell me, are the majority of the changes made by the following two IP's nonsense?

58.187.75.93 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

58.187.42.212 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

I have been wondering what to do all these changes. They don't look right to me but I wasn't sure. Thank you --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 21:46, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know enough about The Eagles to be sure. I reverted the one edit because (as you noted on the template talk page) there's no mention of a John Miles in The Eagles, but Timothy B. Schmit was certainly in the band. I would suggest comparing the edits from that IP against The Eagles and make certain that they make sense vs. the established facts. As to details of what song was sung when on their tours, I'm completely lost - but the IP has already established that s/he's not trustworthy, in my opinion. PKT(alk) 21:59, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well as you may already know, its all been taken care of, short of maybe tying up some loose ends. Thanks. --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 10:26, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Linquet tagging[edit]

Not really sure about the meaning of "cloud-based", but that looked much more like an a7 then a g11. I've tagged it as such. Buggie111 (talk) 22:52, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it could have fallen into a couple of Speedy Deletion categories, but the main thing is it didn't belong on Wikipedia. I'm sure "cloud-based" was meant to refer to Cloud computing. PKT(alk) 23:18, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Might-E truck[edit]

Hello PKT. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Might-E truck, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to products. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:46, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why was Miracast deleted?[edit]

Miracast is a new technology that is part of the IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi standard. Why was that deleted as non-notable?! I wasn't even provided an opportunity to defend the stub article before it was removed from Wikipedia! --JHP (talk) 18:01, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Furthermore, WP:CSD#A7 does not apply because THE ARTICLE WAS NOT ABOUT AN INDIVIDUAL, ANIMAL, ORGANIZATION, OR WEB CONTENT! It's an upcoming IEEE technical standard. You're deleting stuff without even knowing what you're deleting! I had a link to an entire Ars Technica article on the subject, which you apparently didn't bother to read before making your deletion decision. --JHP (talk) 18:09, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have user access to delete anything. All I did was tag the article as one that looked like it was written to promote a company and that failed to indicate why it was important enough to have an article. Apparently, whoever actually deleted it agreed with me. If you wish to re-create the article, I recommend you make it clear from the outset that it's about an IEEE standard and not something else. PKT(alk) 20:32, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, you should check that stuff before arbitrarily nominating pages for speedy deletion. IT WASN'T A PAGE ABOUT A COMPANY! It was a stub article. I placed an external link to an entire Ars Technica article explaining the subject so other wikipedians could gradually expand the article over time. I included another link to the WiFi Alliance press release regarding Miracast. --JHP (talk) 00:00, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Be clearer next time. Two of us didn't get your intended message. PKT(alk) 00:05, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I'm not going to recreate the article. I only create articles once. The deletion is Wikipedia's loss. I read the Ars Technica article, then searched Wikipedia to learn more. There was no Wikipedia article on the subject, so I created a stub article. You flagged it for deletion. It's gone. Anyone else who wants to know what Miracast is in the future can learn about it somewhere other than Wikipedia, because some editors delete stuff without knowing what they're deleting. --JHP (talk) 00:07, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Romer's Beach Vacation[edit]

Hello PKT. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Romer's Beach Vacation to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 14:36, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at Peter Greer Elementary School, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. 114.145.35.239 (talk) 17:35, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PKT's edit was not vandalism (nor were other similar edits). Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Common outcomes#Schools. This is a poor use of a user warning template. Mindmatrix 18:36, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What are you talking about, Mindmatrix??? I didn't say PKT's edit was "vandalism." You should read WP:DE first. Ha! 114.145.143.59 (talk) 18:56, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, then let me rephrase my comment:
PKT's edit was not disruptive (nor were other similar edits). Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Common outcomes#Schools. There is a clear consensus that articles about elementary schools should be merged to their school board/district article. It's even stated in the WikiProject Schools article guidelines. Nitpicking my phrasing (instead of focusing on the relevant WP policy) doesn't change this one iota. Mindmatrix 19:25, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Mindmatrix, thanks for your support - it is appreciated! As to the article in question, editing continues there. PKT(alk) 23:20, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy G4 on Boruch Szlezinger[edit]

Um, I placed a Speedy G4 template on the artice, but by the time I got to the user's page you had already left him a notification. Do you notify first or did you not get an edit conflict notice on the G4? Meters (talk) 22:26, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what happened - I guess you and I were looking to speedy the same article at the same time, and I must have thought that the template had been placed by me when in fact it was done by you. At any rate, I use the script that appears in a deletion template to transfer to the user's talkpage. My apologies for crossing wires with you! PKT(alk) 18:37, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No apology needed. I was just curious. I've had a number of cases recently where I've had my edit conflicts not show up as such, but this is the first one I'm aware of where it has happened to someone else. Maybe it's related to my doing things manually rather than with scripts. Meters (talk) 23:27, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Outerloop Management[edit]

Hey; I noticed you patrolled this page. I've cleaned it up now, but note that several elements were either a bit spammy, copied and pasted from their website, or both. It would be great if you could highlight issues like these :). Thanks! Ironholds (talk) 16:53, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: New media labs[edit]

Hello PKT. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of New media labs, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Contains sufficient content to be a stub. Thank you. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 11:56, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As you deem appropriate, but the article was just a collection of external and internal links when I tagged it. PKT(alk) 12:14, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As the creator of the article I basically just copied and adjusted a similar page about new media art journals. If that has viability, I would think this one has too? In my field (new media art) a list like this is direly needed, and what better place than Wikipedia. I was planning to make the page better in the coming weeks, amongst other things by adding details per lab. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Setuputrecht (talkcontribs) 15:51, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm not a fan of the New media art journals article either, but at least it has some descriptive text for each entry, rather than the simple list of links that had existed for New media labs. I think you need to consider (1) how many New Media Labs are there in the world, (2) how often do they open and/or close, and (3) who's going to maintain the list as the places open and/or close? PKT(alk) 17:53, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When converting less-notable stub articles like Omerville, Quebec to redirects, we should retain categories such as Category:Former municipalities in Quebec. — P.T. Aufrette (talk) 00:18, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good point - thanks! PKT(alk) 01:18, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PSEmu Pro deletion[edit]

Hello PTK. You've indicated PSEmu Pro for deletion. "No indication of importance or notability". However, this is an article about an historical program which created the plugin interface used in most Playstation emulators. Since it's very old, i find it difficult to find human readable sources. I can only find source code, if you know how to program computers you know what this means. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mateuzappz (talkcontribs) 21:35, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article has more in it now than it did when I tagged it. PKT(alk) 22:45, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you run the "formatting: 171x whitespace (using Advisor.js)" again? I was in the middle of editing, there was an edit conflict. Thanks! -- Zanimum (talk) 15:29, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, as an author, makes claim to significance. Dlohcierekim 21:54, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I thought it should be considered for speedy, anyway. PKT(alk) 21:56, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As it turns out, these may be self published. Takes more work to find out than CSD should, but self pub is not a claim to significance. We'll see what happens. You are probably right the first time. Dlohcierekim 22:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Jonathan Ashbeck[edit]

Hey, PKT! I just wanted to let you know that I took off a speedy deletion tag you put on this one. You weren't wrong about it or anything, but it looked like an attempt at a user page to me (it was written by User:Ashbeckjonathan), so I moved it into his userpage instead. Thanks! Writ Keeper 13:30, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I thought of that after I had logged off, but I don't have the power to do what you did. Good call! PKT(alk) 13:53, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Attack pages[edit]

Hi. Thanks for patrolling new pages - a tedious but essential task! Where a page is a personal attack, like Doing a maclean just now, there is a better tag to use than db-nonsense. {{db-attack}} (or {{db-g10}}) has three advantages: it blanks the content so that the attack is no longer visible, it puts the page in a high-priority queue for admin attention, and it generates a suitably fierce warning to copy to the attacker's talk page. In fact {{db-nonsense}} is quite narrowly defined - it is not for anything intelligible, only for the likes of "5#?xq@zr%!" or "Yaaayyyy LOL!!!!!" Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:08, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What is your problem with the addition the The Pacific Express entry?? Patrick — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.176.10.224 (talk) 06:29, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

At the time, it was left with absolutely no referencing (the only reference provided so far was supplied by another editor) and therefore nothing to support that the band was at all noteworthy. PKT(alk) 13:08, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
