U2 influences
[edit]The problem with structuring the sentences that way is that it comes off as POV and is slightly incorrect. Some of the artists listed at "main influences" aren't termed such in the references, while New Order is called their biggest influence in the reference provided. I think it's more straightforward and less POV to just list them all as "influences" in a single sentence; it's not like there's many of them anyway. WesleyDodds 21:51, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Your wikiquette
[edit]Please cease making repeated reverts (ie, the links on U2) without discussing it. Take it to talk. Otherwise, it could be considered vandalism. --Merbabu 23:43, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Unsourced
[edit]Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to JoJo (singer). Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Thank you. --Yamla 17:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

The U2 WikiProject Newsletter Issue III - 12th August 2007 | |
The Collaboration of the Fortnight Department has just been set up and is run by smithcool and neranei. If you have any questions or suggestions, or if you would like to nominate an article, go to the Collaboration of the Fortnight Talk Page.

Welcome to the August edition of the U2 WikiProject Newsletter. As you may have noticed, we are now doing themed newsletters. This one (if you haven't already guessed) is How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Every month the newsletter will have a different theme. There will also be a special edition when the new album is released. Also thanks to Neranei for some of the U2 news.
We have two new members since the start of the month! They are Vero444 and MC. We now have 38 members!
More info from the album page here.
Last month's newsletter incorrectly stated that there were 34 members. This should've been 36. Also, under the "U2 News" section, line 3, instead of saying most recent single it should've said most recent song (this has since been corrected). The editors sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings this may have caused. The correct version of the July newsletter can be found here.
All members of the U2 Wikiproject please note that voting for the next collaboration of the fortnight starts on THE 12TH OF AUGUST. Please visit the collaboration department for more details. |

The Who
[edit]Hi! I'm Sirabder87 from it.wiki and I'm working on the italian version of The Who page. We're having a dispute about Who's genres, about including or not proto-punk. It seems in english page's history that you and an unregistred IP have had an edit war about it (11th-20th June). In the end, proto punk has been definitely replaced by pop. Should you tell me why? Please answer me here. Thank you so much. 83.184.52.170 10:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Don't forget that the Collaboration of the Fortnight Department is up-and-running. The collaboration this fortnight is The Edge. If you would like to nominate an article, go to the Collaboration of the Fortnight Talk Page. If you have any questions contact Smithcool or Neranei.
Also Neranei has recently started the U2 Portal. Don't forget to visit it when you can.
On front cover of All That You Can't Leave Behind is a very subtle Biblical reference. In the background J 33-3 can be seen. This is a reference to verse 33 of chapter 3 of the book of Jeremiah: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and hidden things which you have not known." |
Welcome to the September Edition of the U2 WikiProject Newsletter. The theme for this newletter is "All That You Can't Leave Behind". We hope you enjoy reading it!
Our new members this month are Keeper76 and Jort227. We have now reached 40 members.
Take a look at the All That You Can't Leave Behind article for more info. |

Formatting of genres in album articles
[edit]Hi there. Regarding changes like this, please note that genres should be delimited by commas, and that genres are not proper nouns. See WP:ALBUM#Genre. Have a nice day. --PEJL 10:42, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Keane
[edit]Please stop classifying bands like Coldplay and Keane as a Britpop. Although they were certainly influenced by the Britpop genre, they are most definitely not Britpop. -- Scjessey (talk) 14:28, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
The Killers
[edit]One question? How can The Killers be classified as Indie Rock and Synth Rock? Do you have sources for this information? Please don't edit a page before you are completely sure of the information you are editing, thanks. Oh and you can check several sites that mention that The Killers are post-punk:

Panic! at the Disco
[edit]Please stop changing the genres for Panic! at the Disco. The genres already listed in the infobox have been agreed on in a talk page discussion. If you wish to change the genres, please start a new discussion on the talk page explaining why you think they should be changed. Also, please remember to provide edit summaries. Thank you. ╦ﺇ₥₥€Ԋ(talk/contribs) 21:19, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Van Morrison article
[edit]I'm confused by your removal of the R&B genre from his infobox. As an example, I have always seen reviews listing his biggest hit, "Domino" as an example of his tribute to this genre that he grew up listening to. Please explain, I know you must have had a good reason. Thanks, Agadant (talk) 20:45, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi RattleandHum, I just wanted to let you know that I nominated the U2 article for FA status, which I believe you have contributed to in the past. It would be great if you could support (or oppose) it's candidacy at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/U2. Happy trails! Wikipedia brown (talk) 06:31, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
You not only ignored but removed the message saying "Provide sources before adding Genres". Why?Hoponpop69 (talk) 07:20, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Suggestion...
[edit]Hello there
I notice the minor edit warring over at U2 re the "post punk" genre. My suggestion would be to open this for discussion on the talk page and get consensus for the inclusion of the genre. Providing good references will help your case.
I don’t actually have an opinion either way on the post punk genre, but using talk page and establishing a consensus will help you in maintaining the inclusion in the longer term (if indeed inclusion is what people agree with). If you establish a good case, and then consensus, I and most likely others will support you to keep the genre in. However, my suggestion would be to leave it out for now if it gets reverted again until you get consensus. Ie, the slow revert. Let it go for the short term, then establish you case for longer term inclusion.
Kind regards --Merbabu (talk) 02:44, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Your altering of the billing of Léon (film)
[edit]The repeated recent edits you have made to Léon (film) constitute vandalism, and have been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages. Thanks.
Ryan Adams
[edit]I've reverted your removal of Now That You're Gone from the Singles/promos section of Ryan Adams. Why did you remove it? Adam McMaster (talk) 12:01, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Rush (band). When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Warning
[edit]Hi, please could you stop removing/changing genres on music articles without gaining a consensus, adding a citation, and using an edit summary. If you continue to change genres without meeting the aforementioned criteria you may be blocked for genre trolling. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. Final warning
[edit]Consider this a final warning. For months you've been acting like a rogue editor, making arbitrary edits with no discussion, no edit summaries, and no responses to attempts at communication. If you don't start behaving more cooperatively, I am going to open a thread at WP:ANI asking for your account to be blocked. Looie496 (talk) 17:04, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
