When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Highlands High School (Kentucky), by Navou (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Highlands High School (Kentucky) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Highlands High School (Kentucky), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 02:08, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Highlands High School (Kentucky), an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Highlands High School (Kentucky) satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Highlands High School (Kentucky) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Highlands High School (Kentucky) during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Navou banter 02:50, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea to break this out into its own article. I had thought about doing it before, but didn't want to until I could get it into better shape. I know there are some UK fans in the project, and it would be nice to get this article to good or featured status, but what a beast of a task! How do you do justice to the greatest program of all time, especially with all the haters it would attract in the nomination? Still, if you think a few of us are up to it, let's discuss the possibility. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 22:44, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if you're game, let's do this thing. But we've got to do it right. That means sources for everything, and reliable ones at that. Most blogs, message boards, etc. need not apply. I think it'd be best to try and source what's there before we add anything else. Making this a good article might not be too bad, but the guys that review featured articles are hardcore. Two out of the three featured articles I've shepherded have nearly turned my hair white (and I'm only 26!) I'll definitely inform User:HiB2Bornot2B; his signature includes "Go Big Blue" and he helped with my recent (ongoing) featured topic campaign. I know he's up for it. I'll also post it on the WikiProject Kentucky talk page. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 11:50, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found a pretty good book on UK basketball history that was published in 1984. It'll take me a while to exhaust the facts from it, so if you two would like to focus on the period from 1984 to the present, that would probably be most helpful. If we can get some information for every period, then we can expand and refine it. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 13:27, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently on vacation, so I apologize that I haven't been forthcoming with any assistance. Hopefully, we're not in any hurry, because I really do want to help. When I return to my normal life, I hope to be of more assistance. I just wanted to let you guys know that. -- Steven Williamson (HiB2Bornot2B) - talk ▓▒░ Go Big Blue! ░▒▓ 20:33, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Matthew mitchell ukwbb.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Matthew mitchell ukwbb.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:06, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello WildManKY! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 7 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 710 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Hello, WildManKY, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you worked on, Mercer County Senior High School (Kentucky), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

It helps to explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Help Desk. Thanks again for contributing! ContinueWithCaution (talk) 15:15, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Alex Poythress requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Eeekster (talk) 03:52, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dante Exum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Weel (talk) 08:38, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Karl Anthony Towns

[edit]

Hello! Sorry that I undid your revisions of the 2015 NBA Draft page, I just felt it was in the best interests for continuity, as Karl-Anthony Towns has never represented the US at any competitive level. The flags are not just based on citizenship to the country. For example Francisco Elson has Surinamese and Dutch citizenship, yet the only flag that shows up is Dutch, because that is the country he has represented. Patrick Ewing represented the US, despite being born and raised in Jamaica, and that is why the US flag solely shows up on the 1985 draft page. Thank you again and sorry!

Please review WP:FILMPLOT

[edit]

While I appreciate that your most recent set of edits including trimming the plot, the net result was still a massive increase. As discussed at WP:FILMPLOT, plot summaries should be in the range of 400-700 words. If you feel a film merits an exception to that guideline, you should initiate a discussion at the article's Talk page to get consensus to waive the guideline. Thank you for your understanding. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
