Inspired by the gothic humor of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write songs that tell stories, using two voices to explore dark narratives and characters with a playfully macabre sensibility. Their song "Ghost Story" was used in the podcast Welcome to Night Vale. References:

Hassan Shakosh (Born on August 12, 1987, Giza) is an Egyptian mahragan singer/rapper on the Al Shawakesh label. Hassan attributes his career in working-class neighborhoods to the start of his career singing populist songs in support of working-class people. He has been singing since 2000. Currently, his style takes the street-music, grunge-adjacent style of "mahraganat," which is a radio-friendly electronic rap (shaabi). Hassan is one of the leading mahragan singers in Egypt, but mahraganat music is causing a moral panic similar to gangsta rap in the US in the 90s. Conservatives, including the government, are concerned about the references to sex and alcohol.

Hassan Shakosh's songs include: Bent El Giran (2020) by Hassan Shakosh and Omar Kamal Oud al Batal (2020)
