Ancient Age
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ancient Age is a brand of bourbon whiskey distilled in Frankfort, Kentucky at the Buffalo Trace Distillery, and aged there in large warehouses which literally seem to overhang the Kentucky River, which flows through the city in a deep gorge.
The name Ancient Age refers to the time spent aging in charred oak barrels. By law, Bourbon must be distilled at no higher than 160 proof (neutral spirits are distilled at 190 proof) and aged in new, charred oak barrels at not more than 125 proof.
As a "Kentucky" Bourbon, Ancient Age must be aged for a minimum of two years. Bourbons aged for less than 4 years must state the age on the label. Ancient Ancient Age 10 Star is aged 6 years and bottled at 90 proof. There is also Ancient Ancient Age, a 10-year-old whiskey , Ancient Ancient Age 86-proof.
