Excel Entertainment is an Indian film studio based in Mumbai. It was created by Farhan Akhtar, and Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999. The two have gone on to create several films under Excel's banner.

Faran Akhtar is the son of very well known scripwriter, poet and lyricist, Javed Akhtar and renowned screenplay writer, Honey Irani. He is also the grandson of Urdu poet, Jan Nisar Akhtar. His stepmother is actress Shabana Azmi
