I would say you are fine tagging as WP:CSD#A1; I've also left the user a strong warning that they could be blocked if they continue. GiantSnowman 10:20, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Rangers troll

Hi BletheringScot, The Troll that was IP hopping and vandalising all the rangers pages seems to be back at Murray Park. I documented his initial use of IP addresses here, I assume the block on 92.0.23X.XXX has expired. How do you suggest I deal with this? If he continues to be disruptive is there a page I can report him at that will again block a range of IP addresses? Cheers, VanguardScot 09:13, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

The article he is trying to use as a source is behind a paywall, so I pasted it here User talk:92.0.234.186 to prove it isn't sourceing what he is saying. VanguardScot 09:54, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
I don't use WP:Twinkle but will look into it, thanks. I'v had a lot of hassle off of this IP editor in the past including personal attacks and vandalism of my user pages and talk pages, I think that's why he was originally range blocked, as he came back with a slightly different IP every time he was blocked. It seemed to work for 3 months at least. Cheers for the tips, if it starts up again I will report there. VanguardScot 21:38, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

2014 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Second Round

Just to give you a heads up, you stepped into the middle of an edit war at 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Second Round. DYK for The Duck House

The DYK project (nominate) 20:47, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

This was pulled from the Main Page; an editor found copyvio in the plot summary. Yngvadottir (talk) 03:45, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Yngvadottir and the summary couldn't of just been removed given the hook is sourced twice. This place is unreal at times. Also thats the summary released to all press outlets to promote the show surely that is fair use.Blethering Scot 15:42, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Not at all. We don't use text we don't own, whether it's an official press release or not. (The only exceptions are text published so long ago that it is out of copyright, and such text is excluded from the Did You Know minimum prose length.) If I had come across it myself I would have paraphrased it, but instead it was found by someone who applied the copyvio template. Please read WP:COPYVIO. This is a pretty serious matter actually, and therefore a check for overly close paraphrasing is one of the things a reviewer is required to do at DYK; your reviewer did you a disservice by not checking the plot summary at that stage, when it could easily have been changed. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
@Yngvadottir: Two things i am not happy with are (A the user who tagged did not follow any of the instructions listed and (B it could of been easily removed either by the reviewer or once realised there was no need for the whole thing to be pulled. Although im not able to write a decent summary i could of given it a go even if was crap. I would ask why are these not rechecked by the admin or by whoever puts these into the queue, i just think an interesting subject has been pulled and i don't think i can renominate once fixed can i. I thought if the text is clearly determined to be released then i thought would be ok but i didn't know that and have never been advised of that.Blethering Scot 16:11, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
On top of that why can i just not remove the text now seem stupid to leave it sitting there even if hidden. Readers arent stupid they know to click edit section to see the text.Blethering Scot 16:17, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
The hook had only about an hour and forty minutes left on the Main Page when it was pulled - I am actually a lot more disturbed that it wasn't spotted sooner. Yes, in theory it should have been checked twice more before appearing there: by the person who promoted it and the admin who moved the set from the prep to the queue; but primary responsibility lies with the reviewer who checked the DYK nomination, so I dropped her a note at the same time as I did you. I agree, it would have been a lot better for it to be caught at that stage, so it could then be fixed; that's what the nomination and reviewing process is for. But now you know; you must put everything in your own words. (That also helps us have encyclopaedic wording; that summary was a little on the ad-speak side stylistically.) Yngvadottir (talk) 16:24, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
@Yngvadottir: Everything i wright is in my own words however something used by hundreds of sources in different languages such as a summary i presumed would be fair use, but obviously not. However clearly the system does not work as it should and the admin who moved it clearly wasn't doing the role they should of and therefore should they be doing that role. Im more concerned about the promoter and the admin not the user who reviewed initially they may been equally unaware. It doesn't matter to me how long it had left only that it never got full time and as this was clearly a error by the admin and promoter i think once fixed it should be allowed to be renominated. Tempted to bring up at AN as this is I'm sure a wider issue as if they didn't do the check the once do they actually ever check it, not so sure they do.Blethering Scot 16:31, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
I would bring it up at WT:DYK first - but first of all, how about contacting the user who placed the copyvio template (which I am about to do; they failed to list it at the investigations page and I have just done so). I assure you that checking for copyright violations is a required part of the Did You Know review process and your reviewer cannot have not known this. Meanwhile, if you look at the template, there are instructions for submitting a rewrite of the section: "Otherwise, you may write a new article without copyright-infringing material. Click "Show" to read where and how." I suggest you do that for the infringing section so that the text can be replaced as soon as possible. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:37, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
@Yngvadottir: I know just not blaming the reviewer as the admin is especially the one who should of caught it. At the end of the day they are entrusted by the community to do that role and clearly it wasn't done here not even close. Just really annoyed as thats the best hook I've ever been able to think off and if any of the three people had processed it properly it would of been fixed before it went to the front page as would of just wiped it entirely. Never knew he hadn't reported it either. Anyway Orlady has removed the section thats all i wanted to do. Maybe you could raise at DYK as this is a big failure but if not ill take to AN as that should never of been on the front page. Blethering Scot 16:42, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Critical reception sections

Thanks for your message. What you can do to start one of these sections, is pick out three reviews from reliable sources: the most favorable one, the least favorable one, and one in the middle. Then, you can follow this template: "A reviewer for X Newspaper gave the show its most favorable review, writing: "I loved the show because ___".[cite #1] The review in Y Newspaper, however, found the the musical lacking, because "Quote".[cite #2] The reviewer for Z Newspaper felt that the piece, while [well structured, or whatever positive it says], had a disappointing [score, or whatever negative it says]."[cite #3]. Categories for musicals

The date category for the musical should usually be the first "major" production -- that is, the original Broadway or West End production. However, if the musical premiered regionally or Off-Broadway/Off-West End and did not then go promptly to Broadway/WE, then you should use the date of its first significant, full professional production. For example, Little Shop of Horrors had its first significant production Off-Broadway in 1982 and had a long run there, so it is categorized as a 1982 musical. On the other hand, musicals that have an out-of-town tryout but then open fairly promptly on Broadway, get the Broadway date. Musicals should not be categorized under the date of a revival, unless it is really a new show. Even Flower Drum Song, which had a significantly changed major revival, is categorized under the date of the original version. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:37, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Playhouse Theatre

If you want to write an article about it (which is a good idea), you ought to name the new article Jack Lawrence Theatre. Then, in the article, note that it was previously called the Playhouse Theatre. See this IBDB entry. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:12, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Airdrieonians - list of famous players

Could you please correct Peter Davenport and add him to the list as I don't know how to edit the category:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Airdrieonians_F.C._(1878)_players

Thanks. I'm not too good at this kind of thing and can only manage basic edits. Also if you can think of any other notable players. I remember Steve Archibald bringing a whole bunch of Spaniards to the club back in 2000 or 2001 and many of them became successful elsewhere in Scottish/English football once Airdreonians went bust. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.0.37 (talk) 00:56, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Just wanted to say ...

regardless of what Ssilvers suggested, I did not look at the GAN, in fact, I still haven't. I saw the discussion on SandyGeorgia's talk page, but not until after I read the article. I form my opinions, always. I do not think Ssilvers and I are really looking at the same things. When I read an article for a review, I am putting on my legal hat, in a way, and reading it with the same intensity I do a legal brief or motion, turning the words upside down looking for implications and looking for holes. I really disregard that kind of advice because I don't want to go in with preconceived notions. I do not always say so.

It is very hard to take the prose one takes pride in and accept changes pushed by others. I do not find it easy, and I have been here so long I had black hair when I started (don't ask). Three years ago, I walked away from The King and I, part of my effort to get the R&H musicals to FA (seven down, two to go, the hardest ones), after a conflict with Ssilvers. It's all there on the talk page or on the first GAN or somewhere. I came back to it. Whether you do return yourself or not is your concern, but I ask that you keep working on articles, whatever specific ones you choose to. And you owe me a review for Oklahoma!, when it gets that far :) --Wehwalt (talk) 16:43, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
