Madonna concert chronology

The Sticky & Sweet Tour is the eighth world concert tour by American singer-songwriter Madonna to support her eleventh studio album Hard Candy. The show will tour Europe, North America, and South America, with other countries and dates to be announced.[1][2] [3] It will be Madonna's first major venture from her new recording and business deal with Live Nation, following the Hard Candy Promo Tour.[4]

Tour details

The world tour was officially confirmed by Guy Oseary, Madonna's manager and Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's CEO Global Touring and Chairman Global Music on May 8, 2008.[5] It follows the Hard Candy Promo Tour to promote the studio album Hard Candy (2008).

The show will play stadiums and arenas throughout Europe and North America and will be directed by Madonna's long time creative collaborator Jamie King. The musical director will be Kevin Antunes.[6]

Beginning on August 23, 2008 in Cardiff, Wales[7] the tour will visit major European cities through September including, among others, Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Zurich and London. According to Spanish newspaper, el Periodico de Catalunya, Madonna will bring this tour to Barcelona, Spain on September 18, 2008. [8] The North American leg begins October 4, 2008 in East Rutherford with stops at New York's Madison Square Garden, followed by performances in Boston, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Los Angeles, Houston, and Miami. The Houston concert will be Madonna's first stop in Texas since the 1990 Blond Ambition Tour.

Ticket sales

Tickets went on sale for the London, Paris, Cardiff and Nice dates on May 16, 2008. The Amsterdam, Boston and Chicago dates went on sale on May 17, 2008 and East Rutherford and New York City went on sale May 19, 2008.

Icon Platinum fanclub members get first access to tickets starting May 12th, 2008. Fan club members who join May 1st and later will not have access to presale tickets. However, all ticket buyers for the tour get a free trial one year Virtual Icon membership which provides access to the largest digital archive of Madonna photos online, a social networking community of dedicated Madonna fans, contests, news and much more.[9]

The tour started off with a very good start with tickets for her Paris, Boston, and Chicago shows quickly being sould out. Also, tickets for her 2 Madison Square Garden dates immediately sold out, resulting in an added 3rd night, which also sold out.[10]
