Hi ! |
|||
I am new to wiki so i hope I'm typing this in the right spot! I'm reaching out to other users for help. As I understand it, I need to track down an established wiki editor to help me rid the first article i've created ("Stone and Stone")of the ugly box that was posted on top "This article has multiple issues....". |
|||
I know exactly how these complaints came about. In my ignorance on how wiki works, I gave myself the same nickname as the subject I was writing on and then a whole drama ensued, as it was assumed that I was my subject and that I was writing an autobiography! In truth, I am a huge comedy fan and biographer and was dipping my toes for the first time in wikipedia waters! |
|||
Any help or solutions you could provide me when you get the chance would be greatly appreciated! This poor little article certainly doesn't deserve such an ugly heading box because of my wiki-ignorance! Thank you in advance for your time! Hey, I saw you reverted one of my edits on the Three Stooges page. I originally removed their birth names because each of the actors own pages includes this information in a much less obtrusive and awkward manner. I reverted your edit, although my edit summary says "pronunciations" and that is wrong. Let me know what you think. Livewireo (talk) 13:47, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- O.K., no biggie! :) All I needed was an explanation, and you've provided one, so it's fine. :) — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 15:06, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

WP:FILMS' Tag & Assess Drive and Roll Call
re
I have reached my limit with Wikipedia's administrators and their Wikipedia-defeating refusal to do anything about--or even recognize the existence of any specific instances of--bad faith behavior preventing content disputes from being resolved on their own merits. Worse, many of the offenders are themselves admins. The fact that no consideration will be taken to requiring signing up, registering and logging in to edit, even though the IMDb and the GCD do that and more (submissions there have to be approved before they go up) to the benefit of their respective reputations, only makes matters worse. (The new skin is a PitA which they refuse to recognize, too.) I am therefore ceasing wasting any more of my time trying to help a project that insists on killing itself. As you are the only editor I have ever had any genuinely extended contact with here who gave every appearance of being as sincere and dedicated to the good of the encyclopedia as I am, as willing as I to temper the rules with common sense rather than enforcing them to an unreasonable extreme not supported in their texts, as easily able to admit being in error when you are as I am, I strongly recommend you do the same. I will place a sizable resignation notice on my profile page immediately after posting this. It's been fun, with you anyway. --Tbrittreid (talk) 20:04, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- My apologies for the belated response, but, as I'm sure you probably noticed, my activity on this site has been little to none for almost a year now. If I may say so, I'm happy to report that, thanks to time and effort I devoted to my school work and community involvement, I have lately been awarded a plethora of scholarships and financial aid to further my education into college. :) My only regret is that I have not been able to contribute much here as a result. I've been aware of the conflict you've been having with the powers-that-be here, though, for a while now, and I am truly sorry it has all come down to this. :( I have no doubt in my mind that you conducted yourself accordingly as your own conscience guided you, and I see nothing in your actions that you should feel shame for. Evidently, you feel the same way. :) I may not have been as active here as I was once, but even I recognized the trouble brewing within this community back then. I am sad to see you go. You are one of many I heavily collaborated with over the years on projects for this encyclopedia who have since been run off. This reflects badly on the encyclopedia itself to be responsible for the loss of so many clearly qualified members. I have contemplated several times on returning to my formerly frequent contributions here; this, and several similar scenarios with a similar outcome, have convinced me to think otherwise. To paraphrase Jesus Himself, "What is important is that you follow the spirit of the Law, not the letter." The lack of common sense and good naturedness amongst editors here in regards to the guidelines is proving detrimental to the Encyclopedia itself, and, despite what you or I or anyone else does to combat it, will only continue. Maybe it's best that you are leaving, so that you don't have to be a part of it — a cog in the machine. =/ You aren't the first to leave because of something like this, and you definitely won't be the last. :(
- But it has been fun with you, my friend. I'll admit that. :) I've enjoyed collaborating with you, and I wish you the best on your departure. Thanks for being so willing to collaborate with me in return; you've really helped me out around here, Ted! Goodbye, and God Bless Your Life!! :) — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 21:33, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:RushHour3CarChase.JPG
Thanks for uploading File:RushHour3CarChase.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
PLEASE NOTE:
- I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
- I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
- If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.

File:FromDuskTilDawnDance.jpg listed for deletion
A file that you uploaded or altered, File:FromDuskTilDawnDance.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Fair use rationale for File:Clampett.gif
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Clampett.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:28, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:CloverfieldJasonHawkins.JPG
Thanks for uploading File:CloverfieldJasonHawkins.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 23:30, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Howdy! A long while back you moved the following quote from the trivia section to the main lead of the article Hare Force: "The unit of Friz Freleng was the first unit besides Bob Clampett to use the definite design."
Any idea what "definite design" the author of this quote meant? The statement is uncited and totally ambiguous. I think I'm going to remove it unless it can be defined. Thanks for your help. --Captain Infinity (talk) 16:21, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Wow. I'm just seeing this now. Haha! It's clear I've got some catching up to do. But yes, I do know what they meant—I just didn't expound upon it for some reason at the time. It would be the design that was initially birthed by Robert Givens and later reused frequently by Robert McKimson, both on Bob Clampett's team (when he served as animator) and when McKimson himself took a director's chair. — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 06:58, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Added template for SuggestBot
Hi,
Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.
We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.
We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 21:01, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
