Regarding to add some words.

         Respected sir,
                     As I can see you are a talented wikipedian and editor. I can confess my problem to you. Yesterday I was reading wikipedia profile of Dr shamsheer vayalil. There I found an infobox, in that an alma mater column is present. In that name of two medical colleges are given:

1.) Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. 2.) Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai.

  I suggest that some words like "located in" should be added between the name of second medical college and the name of the place where this medical college is situated.

Note: "No" edits are required for the first medical college(i.e.Kasturba Medical College, Manipal).

Thankyou.

Bug? with popups

Hello again.

I have a technical issue with popups. If I look at contributions and hover over "hist", the history appears in a popup window, with four columns - the user/IP is the third column and the forth is the edit summary. The width of the third column seems to expand to accommodate the widest username/ip, and the edit summary wraps to multiple lines in the remaining space for the forth column.

But at some point with long names/IP (such as when the history includes an edit by a V2.0 IP with a 32 digit address) the room left for the edit summary is very narrow and the text can't wrap onto multiple lines, so it just overwrites beyond the edge of the popup - usually becoming unreadable as it floats on top of the text of the background page.

Any idea if this is a known bug, an unreported bug, something unique to my configuration, etc? It has been this way for me for a while. I suppose the only solution is to make the popup width bigger if necessary or wrap the username to multiple lines. But as it is, I usually have to open the edit history in a new full-size window if I really want to read it in cases with long IPs. MB 18:02, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MB: I see the problem but I'm not involved in popups development. Usernames with spaces can wrap for me but not IPv6 addresses with colons. Issues can be posted at Wikipedia talk:Tools/Navigation popups. I found old reports at Wikipedia talk:Tools/Navigation popups/Archive 9#IPv6 (2012) and Wikipedia talk:Tools/Navigation popups/Archive 10#Bug: Overflowing box (2015). I have a small doubt. Won't it be better to post it in phabricator?Adithyak1997 (talk) 18:27, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Probably, if you know how to use Phabricator. Many Wikipedia editors don't like posting there. I haven't searched Phabricator for old reports. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:32, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok.Adithyak1997 (talk) 18:38, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, those two reports from 6 and 3 years ago describe the exact problem. Thanks for finding those. This seems to be everything related at phabricator and I don't see this problem, so I will try to open a report there. MB 18:45, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done, T213205. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. MB 18:56, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Filter worry

I believe you'll read your emails from me, but just not going to be online for several days. Let me know if what happened at primenumbers isn't clear to you or if you get a negative response if it's apparent. Very short mis-send. Regarding a celebrity. Thanks. And just in case you're disinclined to or can't make time for them, I ended by pointing out the Puzzio's next step is due. Apologies to administrators who think this may be out of line.Julzes (talk) 22:48, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, PrimeHunter! Considering that inquiry, I tried to but, in the end, couldn't figure out how to fix the MediaWiki settings according to your proposal, unfortunately. Do you know how this could be finally taken care of?--Hildeoc (talk) 20:20, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Hildeoc: I gave the exact code. Simply change <gallery mode=slideshow> to <gallery mode=slideshow style="margin-top: 0em; margin-bottom: 0em;>. It of course has to be done in the active code and not just the earlier displayed code in <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight>. But I don't think the primary example in a help page should use non-standard code. That's why I suggested it is mentioned as an option. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:33, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for commenting. I actually meant a corresponding change in the MediaWiki source code for this type of gallery, though ...--Hildeoc (talk) 20:36, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hildeoc: Do you want it changed for all wikis or just one wiki? This code is coming from somewhere:
ul.gallery.mw-gallery-slideshow {
 display:block;
 margin:4em 0
}
4em is the large margin. I don't know where to change the original code but a wiki can override it with this in MediaWiki:Common.css:
ul.gallery.mw-gallery-slideshow {margin:0 0 !important}
You can also do it for your own account by adding the code to your CSS. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:22, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for asking – indeed, I wanted it changed (corrected) for all wikis. Do you have an idea where else I could ask?--Hildeoc (talk) 17:45, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hildeoc: Changes to the MediaWiki software or configurations are requested at Phabricator. People there will know how to change it if they want to change it. A request can be tagged with MediaWiki-Gallery. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:12, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much once more. Unfortunately, I am afraid I am not at all familiar with making requests at Phabricator. I once had a look there, but I'm ashamed to admit that system is beyond my ken ...--Hildeoc (talk) 18:19, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Do you happen to know anybody better-versed with Phab I could ask and who might take this issue there? Sorry for bothering. Best wishes--Hildeoc (talk) 21:08, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to make sure you got my last post.--Hildeoc (talk) 19:42, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hildeoc: I'm considering doing it. What do you think the default top margin and bottom margin should be? They don't have to be the same but symmetry is usually nice. The text below the slideshow jumps up and down when the image height changes so a large bottom margin may avoid some distraction. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:08, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much in advance! I'm not quite sure about the margins. In principle, I would say the margins should correspond to the "regular" margins for other gallery types, or rather any Wiki objects in general, so as to avoid ugly excess line spacing, as being displayed in the current status quo. But I'm sure the guys at Phab will know better than I do. Best wishes--Hildeoc (talk) 13:22, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hildeoc: I'm still planning to submit at Phabricator but I wanted to examine a little more and make an example page with different margins. I haven't gotten around to it yet but will ping you when I finally do. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:40, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So kind of you – thanks a lot once more! Best wishes--Hildeoc (talk) 16:11, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@PrimeHunter Please tell me the minimum number of pages that a wiki must have to get an entry here. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Giovanni Labrusco (talkcontribs)

@Giovanni Labrusco: The source comment at the start of the table says: "NOTE: If the wiki you're adding does not have a corresponding page on Wikipedia, it will be removed from this table". It's not about page count but notability. However, a wiki with three pages is certain to be non-notable. A wiki should satisfy Wikipedia:Notability or Wikipedia:Notability (web) to get a Wikipedia article. After that it can be added to the list. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:11, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

2019-20 NCAA Division I Men's basketball season

Can you fix the reference I made on the 2019-20 NCAA Men's Division I basketball season article please. 68.103.78.155 (talk) 17:48, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done.[1] PrimeHunter (talk) 23:13, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PrimeHunter, and thanks for the "source links" script! Maybe you know this already, but it doesn't work well on articles that have brackets in their names, like Spam (food), which gives:

linksto:"Spam (food)" insource:"Spam (food)" insource:/\[\[:?[Ss]pam (food)[\]\|#]/

And no results. In order to get results I found I could escape the brackets in the last part:

linksto:"Spam (food)" insource:"Spam (food)" insource:/\[\[:?[Ss]pam \(food\)[\]\|#]/

I couldn't quite figure out how to modify your script, but I thought I'd point out the problem... maybe there's a quick fix? --IamNotU (talk) 01:02, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Malaysian Grand Prix requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hindi wikipedia page move

Thank you so much, I was in stress in past days regarding the page move,I have tried to discuss in the Hindi wikipedia's tea house but no one replied me. I have put db-author tag in that article while being in dilemma and now I can't even remove that tag. Could you help me with that? Thankyou so much. नेहा गुप्ता (talk) 20:04, 27 March 2019 (UTC)नेहा गुप्ता[reply]

@नेहा गुप्ता: Your account has no edits to that page, the page says {{db-aut and not {{db-author}}, and even if it did, it would have no effect at the Hindi Wikipedia because they don't have that template. I don't know Hindi or the deletion or move policies of the Hindi Wikipedia. I cannot help further. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:04, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello primehunter, I want to inform you that an autopatrolled user in Hindi wikipedia has moved the page on my request. Thank you so much for helping me. I have an another account by which I created that article but when I couldn't move the page I created this account but even after getting autoconfirmed rights I couldn't move the page with this account too. I have posted on hindi wikipedia but I got no reply. I was only able to know this after your information, this morning I have requested an autopatrolled user to move the page and it has been done now. Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

You're a 'Featured Host'

Hi Jens. You may have seen this announcement that all the 'Featured Hosts' - whose names and pictures randomly cycle round in the Teahouse Header - have just been updated.

As you are currently one of the 29 most active editors at WP:TH, your name and an image has now replaced that of an inactive host. But because you haven't yet added yourself to the full list of active hosts, I have chosen what I hope might be an acceptable image to you (over the default picture of a cup of green tea). It would be great if you would now do two things:

  • Check or change the 'featured host' image allocated to you. Edit it at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Host/Featured/12, or undo my changes if you don't wish to be listed there.
  • Create a 'host profile' for yourself, and choose a relevant picture - click the 'Experienced editor?' button in the TH Header to formally sign up to create a separate entry on the full list of all 89 current hosts which new editors can view.

Many thanks, Nick Moyes (talk) 09:38, 13 June 2019 (UTC)"""[reply]
