    Need opinions on a draft

    I would like your opinions whether you think this draft User:Dwnloda/sandbox is good enough to be submitted to the AFC and whether you see any issues with it or what edits or changes you recommend before it is submitted to the AFC.     @Dwnloda: I see that you have declared your status of WP:PAID in regard to the article. I am not an AFC reviewer but the draft seems adequately sourced and is not promotional. The issue, as with many biographies of living people, will be whether it demonstrates they meet the relevant notability criteria and I see that you have sensibly mentioned how the draft does that, in your opinion.     Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye

    Hi, I need help for Abbey of Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye and Abbey church of Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye, specially about style, spelling and grammar. Both articles are translated from the French. We had a workshop last week-end, where we took more than 1000 pictures of the church and the village, so pictures will be added soon. I will add references when I find them (not easy).     • @Yann: Help desk discussions tend to be archived a little faster than discussions on other noticeboards perhaps; I believe the idea is to keep at most three or four days worth of discussions visible on the main HD page so as to keep the page somewhat easy to navigate; however, you don't really need to "unarchive" discussions like you did in this case if you want add something else to the discussion; it's OK to continue archived discussions on their respective archive pages. If you want to revive a previously archived discussion on the main HD page, it probably better to simply add a link to the archived discussion and then add your new comments instead of copying and pasting the entire discussion back onto the main HD page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:06, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Milepost table looks wrong

    Can I change a container category into a regular category?

    Hi there, I received a notification when editing Category_talk:Israeli_women that the help desk might be a better place to ask, so -

    Currently, Israeli women is a container category. However, it has few pages in its subcategories and seems analogous to Jewish women or Women in Israel, which do allow adding individual people to the category. Also, Israeli Jews is conceptually and demographically bigger than Israeli women, which is not constrained to being a container category.

    Would it be possible for me to change the category type for Category:Israeli women to allow for categorizing individual people's pages to it?

    Not a good idea IMO. There are a lot of notable Israeli women, so WP:DIFFUSE applies. Also note that Category:Jewish women explicitly states that "Articles on individual women should not be added directly to this category" (so the women that are listed shouldn't be there) and Category:Women in Israel doesn't have any individuals as entries.     How to clear notification section on my talk page?

    In general, there are two options for your Talk Page, The Supermind. Either set up archiving (see Help:Archiving (plain and simple)) or edit the whole page manually from time to time in order to delete the bits you no longer want. I don't use archiving on my Talk Page but every six months or so I edit out parts of it, knowing they can always be found again in the Page History if ever wanted.     Hi everyone. I just saw that two navigation boxes at the bottom of Yuzuru Hanyu's bios page are not correctly displayed. I can only see:

    I just think people should be well informed before parting with their money. I suspect their money could be better spent, but it up to them to make an informed decision. If I wanted to discourage people from donating (although generosity is always to be encouraged) I would probably point them to (the unfortunately named) WP:CANCER.     Did you not read the link? Article titles follow standard English text formatting in the case of trademarks, unless the trademarked spelling is demonstrably the most common usage in sources independent of the owner of the trademark.     Why does the search in the top paragraph come up with results but the link below the header for searching in mainspace not find the same results? I monitor the category occasionally and it always seemed odd that most of what I found were early in the alphabet, but because I never bothered to remember the lead paragraph, I only just noticed the search link up top.     @IAmChaos: Please be more specific and give an example of a difference. I see three things in this order:
    1. This search - currently 53 pages
    2. This PetScan - currently 56 pages (including 3 redirects)
    3. A list of 200 pages in different namespaces below Pages in category "Pages with disallowed DISPLAYTITLE modifications". There is a "next page" link to more pages (approximately 5,770 total)

    @IAmChaos: The API link appeared to show articles among the first 500 pages in the category. That's not very useful when there are so many non-articles. I have changed 500 to 5000 (max allowed) and mentioned that pages may still be missing.[2] It currently finds most articles. The API is meant for programs and has a system for a program to request the next page of results. It's complicated to do this manually.     Please be specific. You have to tell us several things. At which URL do you see it? Quote the text you call "the initial Wikipedia description" (this could mean different things for many pages).     Irrelevant article might be better to remove

    @Aquatic Ambiance: Hi there! I see that all the content of the Bogotá prison riot article is also included in the La Modelo article. If you think the topic doesn't meet WP:NEVENTS, you could request speedy deletion for this newly created article by adding {{Db-event}} to the top of the article.     I want to get credit for originating the term "Satanic Panic". The fact that I originated this term is confirmed by the Editor of Skeptical Inquirer in the current July/August Issue of the magazine on the Editor's page.     The place to discuss improvements to the WP-article Satanic panic is Talk:Satanic panic. Consider making a better argument than "I want to get credit." That said, something like "The term originated in..." doesn't seem like an unreasonable addition, if the source is good. The issue seems partly not-paywalled [4], but perhaps not the part you mentioned (it doesn't have to be, see WP:PAYWALL, but I can't easily verify what you say).     AfC script

    I just accepted The Apparition Phase to mainspace using the AfC helper script and noticed that the script didn't add an AfC banner to the talk page. Why didn't it get the standard AfC banner? I also entered some WikiProjects when accepting the draft and they weren't automatically added, I had to manually add them after the fact. TipsyElephant (talk) 17:53, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    My wikipedia is in greek now

    That's not a translation but faux Greek – every letter of the English text has been replaced with a Greek letter that either looks or sounds similar. Could it be some faux Greek font? --Theurgist (talk) 20:04, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    It's a font issue in your browser or operating system. Wikipedia doesn't set a font but displays in the default sans-serif font of your browser. Try changing the browser default. If you don't know how then what is your browser? PrimeHunter (talk) 22:38, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello, Alicia1002022. The operation you are describing as "Adding ... to Wikipedia" is more accurately described as "writing an encyclopaedia article about ...". This is not an easy task, especially for somebody with little experience of editing Wikipedia. Nonetheless, you are permitted to try if you wish: see Your first article for more information - but as IanMacM says, if you have a connection with Czerniak, you need to be aware of the policies around editing with a conflict of interest. But I would alsways advise a new editor to spend a few months making small improvements to existing articles first, while they learn about how Wikipedia works.
    You might find that an appeal at WT:WikiProject Arts (or indeed WT:WIR) would find somebody willing to work with you on this; but there are no guarantees. In any event, again as Ian says, unless Czerniak meets Wikipedia's criteria for notabaility (which are mostly about how much independent writing there is about her, not based what she or her associates have said or done), there will be no point in anybody spending any time on this, as no article will be accepted.     Just a point of information: Admittedly, I can be slow, plus the rush to locate items can be problemmatic at times. I had diffculty locating the Donate selection link in the left pane navigation list. It took me almost more time than it took to make the donation.     An Article which is not shown in Google search
