Distribution
Parts of this article (those related to this section) need to be updated.(March 2010) |
Marketed and distributed by Hansen Natural Corporation, a NASDAQ listed company of Corona, California. Though Monster Energy is not widely advertised in the media it receives a large amount of recognition from its sponsorship of various sporting events. Hansen Natural Corporation announced a distribution agreement with Anheuser-Busch in the U.S.[2] and Grupo Jumex in Mexico.[3] Hansen Natural Corporation has recently announced a distribution deal with PepsiCo Canada. On November 10, 2008, the distribution of Monster turned over to Coca-Cola Enterprises, Coca-Cola United, and other Coca-Cola bottlers in many markets. Contracts with existing distributors were bought out in these markets. In late 2009 or early 2010 Monster Energy will expand their market and release their products to other countries including Germany. In Germany Pepsi is the Producer. It is distributed in Australia by Schweppes as Coca-Cola Amatil manufactures Mother energy drink, which is an exclusive energy drink sold only in Australia and New Zealand.
In some European countries even without large scale distributors Monster can be found in some shops with sporting, usually racing equipment.

Notable events
In September 2009, Hansen Natural petitioned Rock Art Brewery[10] to cease and desist from using the name Vermonster on one of its beers due to Hansen's alleged similarity to Monster's trademark.[11] Hansen Beverage Co. sought reimbursement for legal expenses and asked Rock Art to abandon a trademark application. Hansen has trademarks for “Monster” and “Monster Energy." [11][12] In October 2009, Monster Energy and other Hansen Natural products were being boycotted by several retailers in support of local Rock Art Brewery.[13]
Since the 1980s, multiple companies have created beers—many predating Monster Energy's creation—with monster related names.[14] Examples include Monster Ale brewed by the Brooklyn Brewery and Green Monster brewed by Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon.
