Template:Hockey Navigation

Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to ice hockey. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will aim to help and focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

Scope

This WikiProject aims primarily to organize and standardize the efforts of those working on ice hockey related articles.

Project organization

Participants

If you are interested in becoming a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Participant.

Departments

Assessment

The assessment department focuses on assessing the quality of project-supported articles. The resulting article ratings are used within the project to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work, and are also expected to play a role in the WP:1.0 program. The assessment is done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{Ice hockey}} project banner. This causes the articles to be placed in a set of categories that serves as the basis for an automatically generated worklist.

Wayne Gretzky
Ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky, as a member of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1997. Gretzky, nicknamed "The Great One", is widely considered the best hockey player of all time. Upon his retirement in 1999, he held forty regular-season records, fifteen playoff records, and six All-Star records. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season—a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, he tallied over 100 points in 15 NHL seasons, 13 of them consecutively. He is the only player to have his number (99) officially retired by the NHL for all teams.Photo credit: Håkan Dahlström
