Good article reassessment

Wikipedia:Good article reassessment (GAR) is a process primarily used to determine whether an article that is listed as good article (GA) still merits its good article status according to the good article criteria, and to delist it if not.

There are two types of reassessment: individual reassessment and community reassessment. Where possible, editors should conduct an individual reassessment, while community reassessment should be used if delisting is likely to be controversial.

I notice that you've just deleted this, under G8. I don't understand this - there should be a significant article there. There have been some recent disruptive edits to railway gauge related articles (a banned mega-sock, see WikiProject Trains) and it has likely been renamed. However it needs to be restored, and links to it (under this name) certainly shouldn't be restored. As you used G8, I'm assuming that the page had become a redirect to a deleted page. Can you please tell me which, so that I can try and track down the real page. Thanks Andy Dingley (talk) 00:02, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was 15 inch track gauge (page log). – Athaenara 00:10, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just confirming the message from Andy Dingley (talk · contribs) - this is an important article within the Trains WikiProject, albeit still developing. It has been lost through the Wiki-rape of the trains articles experienced over the last few days by mega-sock TC. It is important that we get it back. Timothy Titus Talk To TT 11:53, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that the article we're after probably wasn't deleted, but rather moved somewhere else. If this was G8'ed and didn't have a page history with content in it, it was presumably just a redirect. We still ought to find it, but it's "sideways" rather than "behind". Andy Dingley (talk) 12:20, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here's what was in 15 inch track gauge:

15 inch track gauge (381) is a common minimum track gauge.
{{15 inch gauge railways}}
{{Rail gauges}}
Category:Track gauge by size
Category:15 inch gauge railways

Then it was tagged {{lead too short}}, {{unreferenced}}, {{Proposed deletion}} ("pointless article--too short to be of any use, easily combined into another article"). – Athaenara 19:52, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Combined into what article? Before deletion the contents should perhaps been transferred say to track gauge and the deleted article should, or could, perhaps have been transformed into a redirect to that new section in that existing article?? Peter Horn User talk 02:03, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ask Hichiro16, the editor who prodded it. – Athaenara 02:08, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I partially undeleted Fifteen inch gauge railway and restored the original redirect to Minimum gauge railway. If this is not wanted, I can re-delete it. – Athaenara 02:19, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That redirect is as good a solution as any and better than the one I suggested. Peter Horn User talk 02:32, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

in re: Nate Dunn (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi there,

I've been researching Nate Dunn to create an article which you deleted. I know that the article did not have references. I am in the process of adding those and don't check my Wiki account often enough to have protested your proposed deleting. Can this be restored so that I can add the appropriate references?

Nate —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neurorocker (talkcontribs) 01:36, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done, but after this people who want expired prods* restored are going to have to seek wider input at Requests for undeletion. Proposed deletion is a deliberately gentle community process with a built-in seven-day grace period. Expiration and deletion shouldn't fall back on the heads of those administrators who follow through at the end stage of the process. – Athaenara 01:51, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Pieczenik

in re: Steve Pieczenik (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) (AFD)

I noticed something that may alter your decision about not speedying the pieczenik article.. The Infowars article that was cited in the article here itself cites the wikipedia article in an apparent effort to establish the seriousness/bonafides of Pieczenik. Although it may not matter much at this point as I edited the article severely, that makes it look a lot more like a promotional speedy deletion candidate to me. If my edits are reverted by one of the SPA's, do you think it would be worth just respeedy nomming it?Kevin (talk) 10:34, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think speedy deletion is appropriate, particularly as it would probably be challenged immediately, leading to more discord, drama, claims, and counter-claims. – Athaenara 20:35, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like clear coi spa spam to me. Topgrain said "we own the copyright" which kind of goes to yeah, we own it, so let us spam it... (here's one way I deal with that). Alternatively, the thing could be notable and you and/or other editors may want to totally rewrite it with the neutral point of view and suitable citations it must have. – Athaenara 20:20, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My Article " CustomerXPS Software" has been deleted

Jitheshcxps (talk) 10:01, 6 May 2011 (UTC) Hi Athaenara, I am a part of CustomerXPs(www.customerxps.com), a startup based out of Bangalore. I found that my article " CustomerXPs Software" has been deleted from Wikipedia on 26th April, 16:31(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CustomerXPs_Software). And the deletion log says G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion as the reason for this speedy deletion.I wanted to put up an informational note on CustomerXPs software. Since we are a private company and a small one at that, we are trying to get credible visibility via channels like Wikipedia especially from a recruitment perspective since we're hiring quite aggressively this year. It would be great if you could let me know particularly which content you regarded as promotional and I will change it suitably. We have not included product information specifically so as to avoid promotion, however, since the page was flagged, I'd love your help in understanding how we can alleviate this situation at the earliest. Looking forward to your guidance,[reply]

Kawthekar High School

in re: Kawthekar High School (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Please restore this prodded article. All HS whose real existence can be proven are considered notable--oI cannot recallone exception in the last 3 years. (I know I have the ability to do so myself, but I want to ask you first.) DGG ( talk ) 07:47, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you thinking of the schools exception to speedy {{db-a7}} rather than prod? At any rate, feel free to restore it if you feel it is appropriate. – Athaenara 08:02, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will, but I think you may have missed the point that they should never be deleted by any process for reasons of notability. DGG ( talk ) 00:09, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point, yes, but must note as well that the Wikipedia:Proposed deletion policy page does not mention schools, nor does the prod template. – Athaenara 00:28, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

in re: this edit (page history)

I switched it to CSD A3, because there isn't any content, just very, very tiny pictures that one can not see to begin with. Plus, the images aren't licensed to be on that page anyway. - NeutralhomerTalk23:21, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

{{Proposed deletion}} would be kinder, and I recommend it. – Athaenara 23:27, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I could, but I feel it is best dealt with quickly, per WP:DENY. The user has already created a hoax article at WOTE - TV and has vandalized some other articles previously, so it doesn't seem they are here to edit constructively. - NeutralhomerTalk23:36, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Marvel Entertainment Group

Page blanking

Hi. I'm writing about Talk:Marvel Entertainment Group, which is listed as deleted as per my request. I'm involved in a merge proposal regarding Marvel Entertainment Group and Marvel Entertainment, and I'm unsure what I may have said or done to have that page blanked, but that was never my intention. For whatever I may have inadvertently indicated, I apologize. Is there any way to correct this? --Tenebrae (talk) 05:06, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting guidance

Hi, Athaenara. You've been helpful to me and you have some passing familiarity with this page, so I'm hoping you can give me some guidance on how to proceed on a merger.

At Talk:Marvel Entertainment#Merger proposal, after a week and after public notices on three pages (including WikiProject Comics and WikiProject Business), three disinterested editors hold a unanimous consensus for a merge of Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment Group. (Marvel Entertainment Group is the direct predecessor of Marvel Entertainment, so the material there would become the first part of the Marvel Entertainment article.) The one dissenter was the editor who split up Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment Group in the first place, without a split discussion — which, as the results here show, would likely have resulted in a "do not split."

What is the next step? Does an admin give approval? Does an editor afterward merge the material and notify an admin that it's done so that the talk pages can be merged? How does it work? With thanks, --Tenebrae (talk) 23:13, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking into that now. WikiProject Comics has a tag on the page, so might one or more members respond to a request on the project talk page? – Athaenara 08:20, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops, I went over there to see how active the project was and found a five-day-old Merge proposal post from you. Did nobody show up to help out? – Athaenara 08:26, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My ability to intervene is constrained by the limits of my expertise (which does not include the comics universe) and as I've no experience with merging disputes I haven't a clue about their usual course. Sorry I wasn't more useful! – Athaenara 08:34, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, you've been helpful and considerate, responding to requests and clarifying things. The extra work that you and other admins take on, in addition to your own editing, is much appreciated.
I've completed the merger (which also included apparently long-overdue copy edits of atrocious grammar and other issues), and all that remains now is to remove the empty page Talk:Marvel Entertainment Group, if you could again extend your help. With thanks and regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 00:39, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
 Done, and you are welcome. – Athaenara 00:50, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PROD tag at Maree National School

in re: Maree National School (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi, I'm not sure where it says it, but in practice primary schools are not notable enough for inclusion. If you want to merge it, fine, but it would be nice if you'd be bold and do it. Guoguo12--Talk--  01:02, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I might also add that there is no article for the school's town/city. (Or I couldn't find it.) Guoguo12--Talk--  01:04, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted one or two of these, but after DGG strenuously objected (Kawthekar High School discussion above) I decided to try a different approach rather than invite another objection. How about taking it up with him? – Athaenara 01:13, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I think the difference is that Kawthekar High School is a high school (WP:WPSCH). But anyway, the page has been redirected to County Galway#Towns and villages by Kudpung (talk · contribs). Guoguo12--Talk--  19:12, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me know where the discussion was for the proposed (and now carried out) deletion of the Paul Wilbur article. I wasn't aware that it was being considered for deletion. Thank you. Harvestertalk 14:45, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When a page is tagged with a substed and dated {{proposed deletion}} template, deletion does not actually occur until seven or more days after the page was tagged, as per the three steps outlined in the introductory section of the Wikipedia:Proposed deletion policy.
"Does not meet standard of notability for musicians" was Burkina Faso's reason when adding the template at 07:14, 5 May 2011 (UTC). TonyTheTiger further supported this on the article's talk page at 13:20, 5 May 2011 (UTC) as follows, "This article fails WP:MUSICBIO. Notability must be established according to policy guidelines."[reply]
I reviewed it one week later. As there were no sources at all, only a link to wilburministries.com in the external links section, I agreed and deleted it at 07:37, 12 May 2011 (UTC). Please note that it was a strong candidate as well for deletion per {{db-g11}} as unambiguous advertising or promotion. – Athaenara 19:24, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the explanation. I can't remember the number of editors contributing; but interesting that no one argued for its keeping. Sounds like it was the right decision. Sincerely, Harvestertalk 00:13, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Post Vijay Kumar

Hi,

As per communication, I updated post and also added references. Further I added information to talk page. I feel that was sufficient. Saying that no objection is made is not fair. He is the owner of NGO and enlightened guru too having thousands of articles on hindu religion. I think you should have verified talk page and details updated before deleting this page. You speedily deleted Pricespider.com as spam. No quarrel with that; but the article had an open AfD discussion. I went ahead and closed it as moot, since the article had already been deleted. It is helpful to close the AfD discussion if the article has an open AfD but is also subject to speedy deletion, so we can keep track of who did what to whom. - Smerdis of Tlön - killing the human spirit since 2003! 00:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bunbury Cricket club

in re: Bunbury Cricket Club (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I'm not entirely sure how to go about this process so I apologise If I am going about this incorrectly but upon seeking Bunbury Cricket club I noted that it had been deleted by yourself. Having looked at the justification for it, I'm afraid I cannot agree. In terms of it being noteworthy, it is a charity which has raised £12m and has done so with the help of the likes of Eric Clapton and The Bee Gees as well as countless cricketers and other sports stars. A recent reference to this can be found here: http://www.whereseric.com/eric-clapton-news/303-eric-clapton-helps-celebrate-bunbury-cricket-clubs-25th-birthday

The BBC mentions the Bunbury cricket club in the following blog: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/tms/2009/05/bunbury.shtml

I hope the above is enough to merit the reinstatement of this page. If this is not the correct place to have posted this information would you be kind enough to point me in the right direction as I am new to this aspect of Wikipedia

Moontoast

in re: Moontoast (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I wanted to find out what specifically made it read as advertising. Moontoast is a company, like many companies that have entries on Wikipedia, and we wanted to create a page with basic information about its existence. As noted in the talk file with User:Daniel_J._Leivick (which I guess was also deleted), we had added secondary sources to news sources and were in the process of adding references. Would it be possible to find out what made it read as advertising (that is not our purpose) and reinstate the entry until we can complete the verification items? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cmcenerney (talkcontribs) 11:57, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
