ArbCom run
Unfortunately, you are not eligible to run for ArbCom this year because you do not meet the required edit count. Please read WP:NOTNOW - it is written to those applying for administrator, but is also applicable for ArbCom candidates, as the standard for ArbCom is even higher. Thank you. --Rschen7754 02:15, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

- If an administrator would spell out the terms of a mentoring program, I would be willing to help facilitate one. I've never done it before, so it would largely be on the job training, but I think that I can be of some help. I would just want to know what kind of mentoring would be needed. Traditional adoption? Just a few lessons? --Go Phightins! 02:58, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'm thinking it's just a bit of an "interpersonal skills" issue that we have here. (Again, I hope Mr Basket will not be offended at this suggestion.) Anyone who's been around wikipedia a while and has plenty of editing experience should be able to give him the right kind of advice/assistance, as long as they are willing to give the time to it. In your case, it looks like you're not really working in the same subject area, which would make you more objective and thus a good candidate. Deb (talk) 11:18, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- So what would exactly be expected of me? Running him through some lessons from here such as five pillars, dispute resolution, and policies? Or just generally monitoring his contributions? Go Phightins! 20:11, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'd say you'd be someone he could go to when he couldn't decide what to do - particularly when faced with some kind of dispute. On his part, it would be evidence of good faith and a wish to avoid any conduct that might lead to a block in the future. Deb (talk) 12:29, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 19
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

License tagging for File:Joeoconnell82a.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Joeoconnell82a.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:06, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Non-free rationale for File:Joeoconnell82a.jpg
![](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/cf/Copyright-problem.svg/64px-Copyright-problem.svg.png)
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Joeoconnell82a.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:01, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

- Hi Floater thanks for the offer of help and apologies for the slight delay in response! The image that is to be deleted; I think it is copyright free (from an election pamphlet) but I didn't understand the file tagging! Any advice appreciated! Basket Feudalist 12:53, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Battle of Mortimer's Cross
I'll be honest, I don't even remember being there. I'm sure it's worth expanding and improving, and I don't see any issues with what you've done. Any typos, etc, can be corrected as we go along. Deb (talk) 11:51, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Request.
{{admin help}} This article Martin O'Connell (Irish republican) needs to be moved as per WP:COMMON to Joe O'Connell (Irish republican) as Joe rather than Martin was the name he was familiarly known by (as the image shows)- I tried moving the article to the new page but it wouldn't let me. Thanks in advance! Basket Feudalist 17:06, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Done. You need to provide a non-free use rationale for the image, which should refer to the new title as the article where the image is used. JohnCD (talk) 17:28, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks John. Is it absolutely certain that there is no free-use of it? It was originally a leaflet publically distributed. Thanks for your advice either way. Basket Feudalist 18:00, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- Image copyright is a pain.
- If it is a "free" image, it can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, which makes it available to all the Wikimedia projects. But "free" means that it is demonstrable that the image is in the "public domain" (which is a technical term in copyright law and does not mean "available to the public"), or it is available under a license compatible with Wikipedia's CC-BY-SA. You could try asking at commons:Commons:Upload help, but I don't think there is any chance that having been used as a poster or handed out as a leaflet is enough - the copyright still belongs to somebody, and the fact that nobody knows who that is is not a reason for ignoring it.
- If it is not free, it can still be used on the English Wikipedia under a "Fair use rationale", if it meets all ten of the conditions at WP:NFCC, which should be possible here. A FUR needs to be supplied for each article that uses it (only one, in this case), and there is Template:Non-free use rationale that you can use.
- General advice at WP:Image use policy. JohnCD (talk) 18:37, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- Gotya! -I'll deal with that ASAP.. i.e., probably tomorrow now! -but thanks. Basket Feudalist 18:44, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

- Also, please make the colours in your talk page a bit more lighter... Its not easy to read against such a bright green and orange, but it will be visible against a maybe lighter shade of them TheOriginalSoni (talk) 17:53, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
