ixigo.com (pronounced "ik-si-go") is a travel search engine based in Gurgaon, India, and a mobile travel application available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone. ixigo is an infomediary that aggregates travel websites to compare information and deals. Aloke Bajpai (CEO) and Rajnish Kumar (CTO) are the principal founders and SAIF Partners, Micromax & MakeMyTrip are investors in the company. ixigo works towards giving travellers a one-stop-shop to get all their travel related answers.

Ixigo does not handle the booking of tickets, but instead redirect the user to book directly from the travel provider’s page. ixigo.com was founded by Le Travenues Technology Pvt Ltd. ixigo’s revenue model is based on pay per click advertising, tie ups with prominent airlines and hotels in India and selling advertising space on their website. They have been voted as India’s fastest growing travel search engine.[1]

Awards

Prior to its first product launch, ixigo was chosen as one of the top six startups in the internet space in India[citation needed] and the company showcased its product in the country’s premier startup showcase event, Proto.in. They were recently funded by BAF spectrum for an undisclosed sum.[2] ixigo.com was chosen a finalist at the Red Herring Magazine Global 100, 2007.[3] and the Red Herring Asia 100, 2007,[4] the prestigious lists of innovative companies in the World and Asia respectively. ixigo.com was also chosen as one of NASSCOM’s (India's National Association of Software & Services Companies) 100 IT Innovators 2007[5] as well as Business Today (India)'s 10 hottest startups to watch out for in 2008.[6]

Investment

In August 2011, ixigo.com received $18.5 M investment from SAIF Partners and MakeMyTrip in a landmark deal for online travel in India.[7] In June 2015,smartphone maker Micromax Informatics invested an undisclosed amount in Ixigo[8]
