From today's featured articleIrakli Tsereteli (1881–1959) was a Georgian politician and Menshevik during the Russian Revolution. He was born and raised in Georgia when it was part of the Russian Empire. A member of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, Tsereteli was elected to the Duma in 1907, but was soon charged with conspiracy to overthrow the Tsarist government and exiled to Siberia. After the 1917 February Revolution, he took a position in the Russian Provisional Government as Minister of Post and Telegraph, and briefly as Minister of the Interior. After the Bolsheviks seized power during the October Revolution, Tsereteli returned to Georgia. At the Paris Peace Conference he lobbied for international recognition and assistance for the newly independent Democratic Republic of Georgia; these efforts largely failed before the Bolshevik-led Red Army invaded in 1921. He spent the rest of his life in exile, working with socialist organisations and writing on socialism, and died in New York. (Full article...)

A number of Scottish clubs have entered the FA Cup, a knockout competition in English association football. The first Scottish club to enter was Queen's Park (1874 team pictured), who accepted an invitation to take part in the very first competition after a number of the clubs which had originally entered withdrew. Because of a combination of byes and the withdrawal of opponents, "Queen's" reached the semi-finals without playing a match, but after holding Wanderers to a draw the Scottish club was forced to withdraw as the funds could not be raised to return for a replay. In 1883, Queen's reached the final, scoring resounding wins over Crewe Alexandra (10–0) and Manchester F.C. (15–0) en route, only to be defeated by Blackburn Rovers. A year later Queens met Blackburn Rovers in the final once again, with the English team again emerging victorious. The 1885–86 competition saw the first participation by other Scottish clubs. In 1887, the Scottish Football Association banned its members from taking any further part in the FA Cup. No more Scottish clubs participated until Gretna F.C. entered the competition in the 1980s. New Hampshire is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It is the fifth smallest by area and the tenth least populous of the fifty states. The state has no general sales tax, nor is personal income (other than interest and dividends) taxed at either the state or local level. It was the ninth state to ratify the Constitution, on June 21, 1788. Concord is the state capital and Manchester is the largest city. The state was named after the English county of Hampshire by Captain John Mason. Historically, New Hampshire was a major center for textile manufacturing, shoemaking and papermaking. Numerous mills were located along rivers, especially the Merrimack and the Connecticut. The New Hampshire primary is the first primary in the United States presidential election cycle. This picture is a historical depiction of New Hampshire's coat of arms, as illustrated by American engraver Henry Mitchell in State Arms of the Union, published in 1876 by Louis Prang. The shield shows the frigate USS Raleigh, one of the first thirteen warships ordered by the Continental Congress for the Continental Navy, built in 1776 at Portsmouth. The ship is depicted on stocks, with a rising sun in the background, reflecting Portsmouth and the state having become a major shipbuilding center during the American Revolutionary War, while the yellow-colored spit of land is granite, representing both the state's rugged landscape and the sturdy character of its people. This design also appears in the seal of New Hampshire. Illustration credit: Henry Mitchell; restored by Andrew Shiva
