Aranya Hi, I submitted a request to remove the maintenance templates from IWG plc on the IWG: Talk page. The request was approved by one of the main independent, reliable editors to the page. Please let me know if any further protocols need to be followed.--KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 09:10, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Note for future reference: Non-COI editors have reached an agreement to delete the tag based on a thorough review and adjustments to Katherine's proposed text. P.S. to Katherine: please see the article talk page questions about map(s) and more practically useful photo set uploads, among less pressing issues. EllenCT Will do. Thanks for the guidance. --KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 10:47, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The page File:Regus Two Park Square Center, Albuquerque USA.jpg has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it was a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise failed some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, you can re-upload it, but you must ensure you place the correct tag on it. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review — JJMC89(T·C) 00:14, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I only look at one of these photos, but it was a photo of a building in the United States, uploaded with a fair use rationale. Wikipedia is quite strict about licensing. Although we do occasionally use photos under a non-free licence, we only ever do so where it would be functionally impossible to use or create a free photo for the same purpose. Unless the specific photo is so iconic it's discussed in other sources on the subjecct, these kind of photos aren't going to qualify them. WilyD 06:02, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Mark Dixon CEO IWG.png

Thanks for uploading File:Mark Dixon CEO IWG.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Begoon 22:58, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedians in Residence talk page

Katherine, Carl might know the best videographer if he won't take the video production job. Can you figure out his Wikipedia userid and ping him on meta:Talk:Wikimedians in Residence Exchange Network please? EllenCT (talk) 06:43, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

 Done--KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 08:43, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This user has a clear and undeclared conflict of interest.[1] I would suggest they have no interest in building an encyclopedia but are here solely to promote the commercial interests of their employer. KJP1 (talk) 22:15, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This user has very openly declared their conflict of interest, see Talk:IWG_plc. There's no reason to harass them without taking even a modicum off time to be aware of the relevant facts. WilyD 06:39, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wily - I was drawn to the user's Talkpage by the post here, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Architecture#Volunteers needed!. As you can see, absolutely nothing there, or on her Talkpage, or on her uncreated Userpage, indicates the user's COI. KJP1 (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

Sorry about the offended architect. You can prevent this problem by writing what you want people to know about you, including your employer and their brands, on your "user page" User:KatherineBusby2019 which is linked to in your signature. Turning it blue by writing something on it will let people know you aren't trying to abuse the system. EllenCT (talk) 23:59, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice. I've added a mention of my COI on my user page. --KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 13:04, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a Wikipedian in Residence programme at IWG

Would anyone be able to guide me through this process? I have a good idea of what the WiR is but not where to post an opportunity or in what format. Could anyone offer any guidance? --KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 12:22, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

EllenCT Internally, I am looking at offering volunteers free coworking space in exchange for support developing our Wikipedia pages. Do you know how I could set this up as a formal offer or WiR programme? I have no idea which page to publish this opportunity and reach out to potential volunteers. Could you help? --KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 15:21, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. I think this is a good idea and I will try to help, but we need to be discreet about it. A lot of people have knee-jerk reactions out of an abundance of caution, more than a rational view of what kinds of commercial articles are harmful and which serve the readers. Let me see if I can find someone closer to you who you may be able to meet -- you are based out of Barcelona, right? EllenCT (talk) 19:45, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
EllenCT Yes, Barcelona. Looking forward to figuring this out. --KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 16:08, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

Unspecified source/license for File:Regus logo 2019.pdf

Thanks for uploading File:Regus logo 2019.pdf. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 09:01, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Signature by Regus offices.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Signature by Regus offices.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:24, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Regus (company), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. David Gerard (talk) 12:36, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@David Gerard: Hey David, the link does not lead to a page with a button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion." Could you please send the correct link? Thanks. --KatherineBusby2019 (talk) 10:53, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
