Page Deletion on grounds of advertisement

My page for Evan Nagao (World YoYo Champion) was deleted. I quoted the descriptions from a site called yoyoexpert because I was unaware it constituted an advertisement as I put it in a quote. Can I recover my draft and change it for resubmission? I do not work for Yoyoexpert (which I quoted) or Yoyofactory (the subject's employer). This was my first experience writing an article on Wikipedia, and if there are any other reasons for the deletion, please let me know so I do not make the same mistake again in the future. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrblackhole (talkcontribs) 23:25, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Laundering promotion with quotes doesn't make it any less promotional. Acroterion (talk) 23:44, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

I understand, which is why I, if I am able to recover the draft, will delete the quotes and only put specs. If that is considered promotion as well, I could also just state the models that the player has made with the company? — Mrblackhole (talk) 00:02, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Or whoever has the ability to recover the document can just give me the draft without that section (Signature Yo-Yos) at all, and I can rewrite it. — Mrblackhole (talk) 01:28, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Ignore this request, recreated draft without section on “signature yoyos” If you can provide it, a little advice on how to write about commercial products without being promotional would be helpful. — Mrblackhole (talk) 04:14, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Only write about commercial products of unquestionable notability. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:20, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Length of user talk p. DGG ( talk ) 16:24, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

  • DGG, 50%! More like 95%! Ie. reduce it to 5% of its current size. I have just archived this page because at 70k bytes, not 700k!, at 70k bytes it was too big. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:38, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Deleted Photo

You deleted two photos that I have permission to upload. Did you read the copyright page on the photos? https://www.hmdb.org/copyright.asp

  • I also contacted the owner of the web site to be sure I could unload the photos to Wikipedia.
  • Can I use the hmdb.org website photos on Wikipedia?
  • His reply:
  • "Please proceed to use photographs from our website, with attribution. While we don’t use a Creative Commons license, our “some rights reserved” copyright reserve commercial rights only, so please proceed. https://www.hmdb.org/copyright.asp Attribution for these particular photographs would be “By Dean Whittle via HMdb.org” or similar. J. J. Prats, Editor of www.hmdb.org"

Was my copyright upload pick wrong? If yes what? It was delelted so quickly, I did not have a chance to reply. Thank you Telecine Guy (talk) 21:53, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

Correction: I ask for clarity from the Web site manager. Here is his reply: "just name of photographer, comma, HMdb.org is all you’ll need for photographs. For the pages themselves, HMdb.org. J. J. Prats, Editor of www.hmdb.org" — Telecine Guy (talk) 00:13, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

As to these images, the licence terms you have quoted do seem to be invoking the non-commercial (NC) clause which is not allowed here. So the easiest thing is for the source site to explicitly release these images under a {{GFDL}} or {{cc-by-sa-4.0}} or both or less stringent licence and then you can safely upload them to the Commons. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:38, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Deleted User Page

I noticed you deleted User:Bananarama2019. I have noticed this editors peculiar editing habits and they seem similar to sock account User:Bebo71/User:Beroe 2019. I didn't feel confident enough that they are related to go to SPI but I thought I would mention it to you if you come across any more situations from this account. Equineducklings (talk) 22:06, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Get the name right! On a quick inspection I would say that Bananarama 2019 probably is the same person as the other two but that they are a reformed character (it does happen sometimes). So any punitive action against Bananarama 2019 should be based solely on their edits under that user name. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:38, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Apologies Equineducklings (talk) 15:34, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello, RHaworth, Did you intend to delete this talk page, too, or are the talk pages of deleted articles sometimes retained? I was just going through some of the many, MANY redirects to this article and found one leading the article talk page. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 16:55, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Yes, I should have deleted it. I was distracted because it had taken three attempts to do the deletion (time-outs while retrieving all the revisions) and I was boggling at the fact that it had 3000 edits. And we both omitted to delete Talk:SUPER WHY!! — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:13, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Shefali Rana

Hi RHaworth. Yesterday you dealt with the article Shefali Rana which you speedily deleted 5 times, and eventually blocked from recreation. Today the article has been recreated as Shefali rana and although another speedy nomination was rejected, it still seems at best borderline notability. If you believe the latest incarnation should be kept, could you unlock Shefali Rana, so I can move the new version there? Thanks, Railfan23 (talk) 05:51, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Aurangzeb

Hi...There are some strange edits on Aurangzeb. Can you help? Whispyhistory (talk) 14:03, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Fixed. We had tempestuous times in England about the same time as Aurangzeb such as the execution of a monarch and Quakers seeing a new light but I am sure the relevant articles here do not attract such edit warring. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:01, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Baby fighting

Recently deleted "The great baby kicking competition" or whatever nonsense name I called it. Hello. Thank you for deleting my fake article. I didn't think you'd be quite as fast as you where though so the intended reader missed the window to read it. I was wondering if you could send me the article text as I never took a copy (because it was only for laughs). The only link I have is to Draft:The Great Baby Kicking Competition of 1904. I hope I didn't worsen your day any with my meaningless little stunt. And sorry for using a noobish link format. Regards //M — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thedaddestdad (talkcontribs) 23:21, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

  • I hate uncaptioned images - this image is fascinating but without details it is useless. So tell me where it is, preferably with a map link like this: 59°55′43″N 10°41′47″E / 59.92853°N 10.69634°E / 59.92853; 10.69634, what it is and the relevance of 1904 in your title since it was probably not erected until twenty years after that year. Then I will send you your text. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:01, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Deleted "Eric Solis"

Hi. I've read Section G11 and want to dispute your reason for deleting the page I created about Eric Solis. As stated in G11, "If a subject is notable and the content could plausibly be replaced with text written from a neutral point of view, this is preferable to deletion." The content here is completely neutral and does not contain promotional language. If you disagree, please provide an example of the promotional language. The subject is notable, with multiple patents and citations from well-regarded media outlets. Please provide further evidence to support your claim that this subject should be the subject of speedy deletion. You seem to have an unusual preference for deleting pages. — GhostDust (talk) 05:54, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello RHaworth, I'm messaging to contest your deletion of Christian Life College. Unless I'm mistaken, it is an educational institution and is exempt from criteria A7 (see: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Schools/Criteria for Speedy Deletion A7). — Joshuaabrego831 (talk) 14:16, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Hendrick Goltzius

RHaworth moved page Hendrik Goltzius to Hendrick Goltzius. There should have been a WP:RM on this - why wasn't there? — Johnbod (talk) 22:11, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Learn to provide a link whenever you talk about a page. Where is it written that every move requires an RM discussion? The addition of c to the guy's name was done with this edit. An hour later you edited the article and, apparently, agreed with the change. So why is it that in the last four years you have not taken steps to have the article moved? Hendrik Goltzius is currently a redirect with no previous edit history. If I understand the rules correctly, you would be able to move the article back and then Pichpich can go to all the trouble of raising a move request. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:31, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

I'm sure I hadn't noticed four years ago. This is a very poor excuse indeed. There should certainly have been an WP:RM (and that's where it is written), and of course Pichpich should not have moved it, especially in that sloppy way - a sloppiness repeated by you when you didn't add the alternative to the lead! Both names are very common, but in the absence of a discussion & analysis I suspect I might support "ick". But this is an important article & should not be moved on a whim. Johnbod (talk) 12:15, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

Is that boasting? I haven't reverted you yet at all, & often I wouldn't be able to. It would be much less trouble to seek a topic ban. It would be unwise to assume that couldn't be got. Alternatively you could just follow the rules. — Johnbod (talk) 18:17, 22 August 2019 (UTC)

Dr John Mew

Dear Roger, Thank you for your feedback regarding my first attempt at a new page on wikipedia. The page is Draft:John_Mew. The reason you gave for deletion is advertising or promotion. I would have preferred it if you had given me feedback on which bit you think was advertising or promotion, so that I could edit it, rather than deleting the whole page. I hoped I had got the right balance. If it was the footnote for the IAFGG (international association of facial growth guidance), I included it to evidence that Orthotropics is practiced worldwide and because the IAFGG is a not-for-profit organisation, so I thought it would not be regarded as advertising or promotion. It is hard to know where the line is between evidence and advertising and I am happy to change the offending passage if you can tell me where it is. I would appreciate your help in learning how to do this correctly. — Acirsa (talk) 08:45, 22 August 2019 (UTC).

Eric Solis Speed Delete

Hello RHaworth,

With all sincerity your deletions of my page says more about you than having any reduction of the impact I have had on the fintech, the underbanked/unbanked and financial inclusion in the US and around the world. Fact is, I can do without a Wiki page just fine. But if you are recklessly deleting pages without proper due diligence, then you put the entire ecosystem at risk. My request is not for a restoration of my page, but that you think long and hard about your actions and the long term implications your behavior will have on society if social platforms like Wikipedia are to survive into the future. Eric Solis — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:387:6:807:0:0:0:2B (talk) 02:06, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

  • But Wikipedia is not a social platform. In any case instead of your <pre> preaching, why don't you actually read the replies left for you. At Deleted "Eric Solis" above do you see the word "restored". In this undeletion request do you see the words "now done". — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:59, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

  • I recently got into serious trouble for deleting two articles (both much shorter than this one) about members of a vidhan sabha so I had better restore this one speedily. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:03, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Draft:Nathaniel Phillips

Why was Draft:Nathaniel Phillips deleted? The deletion was logged as G7, but the G7 tag was added by User:REDMAN 2019, who is not the author of the article. Redman, why did you place that G7 tag? And, RHaworth, as noted elsewhere, you need to be more careful when acting on CSD tags placed by other editors to verify that they were tagged correctly. -- RoySmith (talk) 14:11, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

  • As you can see my account was created recently. When the draft was created the author's account WAS my account I have since created my own account. but the draft still said that my original username was the author. I deleted the draft when I discovered that a page already existed that covered the topic. and deleted the draft. -- REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:10, 26 August 2019 (GMT)

OK, fair enough. Thanks for the explanation. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:37, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

User:FHR Anlagenbau GmbH/sandbox

Hi there, I uploaded a page user:FHR Anlagenbau GmbH/sandbox two days ago but it was immediately deleted apparently on the basis of promotion. Appreciate if you could let me have specifics on it. I don't believe talking about the name of a company and where it's based is considered as promotional materials. I'd change the items which are against Wikipedia's policy if you could specifically point them out. I can show you many other similar pages for other companies which have been approved. Cheers, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Masihengineer (talkcontribs) 12:15, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

  • The main promotional thing was your user name! Since you had a sandbox under your new name, I have allowed you to keep it. Note that you are liable to find yourself blocked again if you do not make proper CoI and paid editing declarations. You may have to settle for one section in the Centrotherm Photovoltaics article with a redirect at FHR Anlagenbau GmbH. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:21, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

AgroFresh

Hi - Can you explain your deletion of the AgroFresh page draft I created? Was there something in particular that seemed like it infringed on copyright? Was that the only concern? Thanks in advance for the explanation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BlueStar35 (talkcontribs) 14:17, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Kindly have the decency to wait until someone who a) has no CoI and b) knows what an article here should look like, thinks your company is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:21, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback DGG and RHaworth on 15 August 2019. I agree with your point, but smaller organizations and their products can be notable as par stated in WP:NCORP. About their notability, there are few articles (1, 2, 3) that this firm is featured. In my view these are significant, independent, reliable and secondary. Do you agree it deserves to be notable? Thanks, -- VT TMTMR (talk) 08:53, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

  • I still agree with DGG that the company is not notable. The best I can suggest is that you follow this advice and find an established editor to help you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:21, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

TNN24

Oops, sorry for the edit conflict. And thanks for clearing up the mess. I think TNN (Thailand) is probably the best title now, given the channel's recent rebranding, and the fact that their website and social media accounts all use "tnnthailand". -- Paul_012 (talk) 15:00, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Brain Storm Optimization

Hello. I was about to edit Brain Storm Optimization but I see that you are working on it. I'm not a subject expert but one option is to replace it by a redirect to Brain storm optimization algorithm. — Certes (talk) 16:04, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Danish sheikh

Hello. Salted Danish Sheikh has just been re-created at Danish sheikh. Is it substantially different from all the rest of them? Thanks. Tracy Von Doom (talk) 16:07, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited

Howdy, RHaworth. You posted the notice for speedy deletion on Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited page and deleted it shortly after posting the notice. I couldn't discuss the merits of this deletion as it was quite late for me when you posted and quickly deleted it. Also, I now cannot reference the original article to properly judge the merits of the deletion. Can you share your rationale for speedy deletion in this case? Thanks. NightMonkey (talk) 17:03, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

  • No. Read your messages. Premeditated Chaos applied the speedy tag. I just did the deletion. After thirteen years it is still an orphan. The three external links that you added are now all broken. No-one else has seen fit to add evidence of notabilty. You can try at draft:Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited. When you think it is ready hit the "submit" button. Do not move it back yourself. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:13, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Victorious Sect

Now deleted article Victorious Sect. Here's what some my comments would have been at the now redundant WP:AFD I might have started. There appears that there is no evidence that a group of this or a similar name has ever existed. The sources cited here:

are both blogs and are prima facie not reliable sources, unless otherwise shown to be.

Ink, Blink and Mustard rudely called Custard the Dragon "Percival". Similarly, in further communications I will rudely call you "Rita". -- Shirt58 (talk) 11:37, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Swarup Rani Nehru

HI...I reverted a very nasty edit on Swarup Rani Nehru. Can you have a look and do whatever you think correct to the editor that did that, please. — Whispyhistory (talk) 18:17, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Possible socking

Earlier, you deleted User talk:Abnernogah92. Is the content of User talk:Situspoker1231 virtually identical? I erased someone's talk page earlier and warned them but can't remember if it was Abnernogah92 or not. — Home Lander (talk) 21:49, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Home Lander, I can forgive you forgetting what you had done half an hour earlier - I have an active forgetting mechanism for the rubbish I look at. But I cannot forgive your apparent inability to look at your own contributions history. In this report if you had looked at it at the time you left your message, User talk:Dewapoker12309 would have stood out a mile because of the (-19.929) beside it. That number has gone now because I deleted the offending edit at the same time as I blocked that account and Situspoker1231. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:50, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Leon Zimmerpersonn

Why did you delete the draftpage about Leon Zimmermann? It's not promotional. Biographitor (talk) 08:10, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no CoI thinks you are notable and writes about you here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:50, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Why did you delete me page?

Um sure as to why you deleted my Wikipedia sandbox article. Please inform me of the cause of deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AfricanGucci2 (talkcontribs) 10:27, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
