Did you know

... that you will probably not succeed at DYK if you don't read and understand its eligibility criteria? Schwede66 21:35, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I will assume that this is good faith, and if not, remember to not bite the newcomers, I am sorry, I read it after the comment on my second DYK, I learned, I promise. Sportsfangnome (talk) 23:15, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lamar Jackson

Hello! I will go over the references and modify or add whatever I see that needs to be done. I am no expert on moving to the GA status but I will make sure the references are suitable in my opinion. This could take a little bit so please be patient if that is alright. Red Director (talk) 14:23, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Sportsfangnome (talk) 14:24, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am not a expert on moving that to GA status either. Sportsfangnome (talk) 14:25, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will "hire" without money more people to help you out, if everything is okay or not tell me! Sportsfangnome (talk) 17:50, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So far I asked Jericho735, but there will be more! Sportsfangnome (talk) 18:03, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone through his article and added the preliminary changes and missing references and fields. No reference/claim stands out as original research. Most of them fit the bill as news website or statistical databases. I can do another runthrough because it is a rather timely process. Red Director (talk) 18:57, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think we are ready. Sportsfangnome (talk) 19:00, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You do the honors. Sportsfangnome (talk) 19:05, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will let you do so. See this page: Wikipedia:Good article nominations/Instructions. I would do so maybe another time. I have a lot of stuff I need to get to on here and in the real world and I am already backed up significantly. Any questions, just let me know. Red Director (talk) 19:29, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for all of your help, you truly were great! Sportsfangnome (talk) 19:33, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lol! That is funny. I better not do that because of personal conviction there among many other better reasons. Red Director (talk) 14:33, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

Thanks for the barnstar! Appreciate the kind words. Red Director (talk) 15:39, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the second barnstar! I think the best way for a GA process to go is for someone with an eye for them to be the nominator. Someone with an eye for GA knows what the process takes to be successful. You can have good intentions but the process to get to a good article and featured article is very in-depth. Lamar should have a career at some point that warrants that if he stays on his current trajectory. Red Director (talk) 21:37, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Things

Hi. You have made thirty edits to main space; I think it's fair to say you are not yet very experienced. So, your attempt at a GA nomination on Talk:Lamar Jackson was first of all misformatted, and second, that article failed GA recently and is not ready for a new review. Similarly, it is unclear what your edit on Talk:Thunder (mascot) meant. Are you suggesting that it no longer meets the criteria for FA status? I strongly suggest you leave such judgments to more experienced editors, and that your time is better spent getting that experience. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 20:10, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft

Hello! That draft could use some more background information based on a quick glance. Always be sure to cite any information on the page. It looks like you know about that aspect of the editing process. I have no expertise on the subject matter so that is in your area. Best of luck! Red Director (talk) 23:30, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a little summary of how it works.
The 32 teams have 7 rounds to pick 7 players, which starts from the worst team picking first to the 18th worst team. This is where it gets tricky to comprehend. the 19th-32nd teams are the teams who made the playoffs. So lets make a fictional playoff bracket that is entirely false and is legitimately impossible to happen.
AFC
Bye: 1. Buffalo Bills (14-3)
7. Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8) L at 2. New York Jets (14-3) W
6. Kansas City Chiefs (10-7) W at 3. Baltimore Ravens (13-4) L
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-6) W at 4. New England Patriots (13-4) L
NFC
Bye: 1. San Francisco 49ers (13-4)
7. Washington Commanders (10-7) L at 2. Dallas Cowboys (13-4) W
6. Carolina Panthers (10-7) L at 3. Los Angeles Rams (12-5) W
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-6) W at 4. Detroit Lions (11-6) L
So it goes from losing Wild Card teams records then the worser seed if they are in the same conference. Then they follow these rules:
  • Head-to-Head, if possible
  • Best W-L-T percentage in common games (up to four) (what common games are is like how fictionally the Rams and the Panthers both faced against the Cowboys in the regular season)
  • Strength of victory in all games
  • There is more rules, but it is almost impossible to have to use them, with the last one being a coin toss.
19. Jacksonville Jaguars
20. Washington Commanders
21. Carolina Panthers
22. Detroit Lions
23. New England Patriots
24. Baltimore Ravens
Next is the divisional round. It will always be the lowest-seeded team against the highest-seeded team, second-lowest, second-highest, yadda yadda, same rules for the Conference Championship.
AFC
6. KC Chiefs L at 1. Buffalo Bills W
5. Pittsburgh Steelers W at 2. New York Jets L
NFC
5. TB Bucs W at 1. SF 49'ers L
3. LA Rams L at 2. Dallas Cowboys W
So then it follows like this:
25. Kansas City Chiefs
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
27. Los Angeles Rams
28. New York Jets
Next is the Conference Championship, I think you get it, but just in case...
AFC
5. Pittsburgh Steelers L at 1. Buffalo Bills W
NFC
5. TB Bucs L at 2. Dallas Cowboys W
It follows like this:
29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
30. Pittsburgh Steelers
Finally, it is the Super Bowl
Dallas Cowboys W vs. Buffalo Bills L
It then goes like this:
31. Buffalo Bills
32. Dallas Cowboys
Whew!
Knock knock!
Who's there?
The off season.
The off season who?
The off season which makes things more difficult.
Oh! What's this?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wants to get Patrick Mahomes even though they have Tom Brady?
Apparently they got Mahomes for their first draft pick in the 2023 NFL draft, which we know is the 29th selection, and they also got rid of their 2024 first rounder, which we do not know what they will get, a 2024 third rounder, a 2024 seventh rounder, and a 2025 first rounder, and a 2026 first rounder. It also says the Chiefs wanted to get the 2027 second rounder but they could not, as teams can only trade their future draft picks after the draft, up to three years, while prior to the draft, it is two years max they can trade that pick.
Teams are free to trade picks for picks, picks for players, players for players, picks and players for picks, etc.
For example, there were 25 different revisions in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft.
I don't know how to end this so I will just end it here. Sportsfangnome (talk) 09:12, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am proud

A few days ago, I have made a goal to make all of the unassesed articles on American football assessed, when at the time, there were around 800-1,000 unassessed articles. Today, there are only 35 articles left on there. I would like to thank all the people who helped me on assessing the articles. If you are one of the members who helped assess even one article, please put your name and some of your notable work on assessing the articles. Sportsfangnome (talk) 17:33, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now, we need to do the Importance articles. Sportsfangnome (talk) 17:49, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of 2022 National Arena League season

Hello! Your submission of 2022 National Arena League season at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there at your earliest convenience. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Bruxton (talk) 02:46, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for 2022 National Arena League season

On 16 August 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2022 National Arena League season, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that during the 2022 National Arena League season, a player hit a referee? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2022 National Arena League season. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 2022 National Arena League season), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Your GA nominations and recent promotions of articles to A-class

Sportsfangnome, it's good to see your interest in the GA nomination process. As you're new to it, I wanted to let you know about a couple of important facets that you don't seem to have noticed.

If you wish to nominate an article that you haven't done significant work on, per the GA nomination instructions, Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article on the article talk page prior to a nomination. You haven't done this for any of your six nominations (none of which you have made significant contributions to), including the three you made a little while ago, so I've reverted your out-of-process nominations for Quarterback, Tom Brady, and Vince Lombardi. If you wish to pursue any of these three nominations, you'll first need to do the consultation, and once people have had a chance to respond (seven days is standard), if a consensus agrees that a particular article is ready to go (meets or is very close to meeting the GA criteria), then you're welcome to renominate it. Do note that you will expect to be the point person to address any issues that are raised on your nominations during the course of the review.

I also reverted your prior changes of both Vince Lombardi and Quarterback to A-class from B-class in the American Football WikiProject. A-class is actually a higher class than GA, and before articles rise to A, they are supposed to go through a rigorous, formal review process that is described here. I saw no evidence of this on either article's talk page, hence the restoration to B-class.

You have three other GA nominations: Early history of American football, Bugs Bunny, and 2020 NFL season. As these are up to a month old and would lose seniority if reverted, if you wish to continue these nominations, you can start the consultation on them (or those you still wish to pursue) now. Best of luck with them going forward. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:17, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ITN recognition for Len Dawson

On 26 August 2022, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Len Dawson, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. —Bagumba (talk) 19:29, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Sportsfangnome (talk) 19:45, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ITN recognition

FYI, I saw your edit here giving ITN recognition for Dawson. Typically, that is not done until after an item is posted on ITN. Regards. —Bagumba (talk) 19:43, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I accidentally did that, oops. Sportsfangnome (talk) 19:44, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent Good Article nominations

I noticed your page says you're a newer editor, which is great. Wikipedia always needs fresh users. I also saw that you've had trouble getting your Good Article nominations passed. As another user has pointed out, you haven't done significant, or in some cases any, work to any of your nominations, which, while not required, is highly encouraged. Especially for longer articles like the ones you've nominated, more senior users may assume you are a rookie who will not stick through the review and refuse to review them. I've also noticed that many of your edits have been reverted. If you need any help with policies or rules, feel free to contact me or any other more experienced editor.

Best wishes, An anonymous username, not my real name (talk) 02:52, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
