Issru is a village situated near Khanna, Ludhiana, in Punjab, a state near the northern tip of India. [1] It is a small municipality near Malerkotla Road, about 12 miles south from the town of Khanna.[2]

Isru Population

According to the [3], a total of 679 families reside in the Isru village. The Isru has population of 3462 people, of which 1837 are males, while 1625 are females.[4]

Most of the village's inhabitants are known to have 'Benipal' as their surname.[6]

Historical Significance

Isru is considered an historic village in India, due to its significance in being the place that Karnail Singh Benipal belonged to, who sacrificed his life for the Goa Liberation Movement.[7]
