General Ali Abdullah Ayyoub (Arabic: علي عبد الله أيوب) (born 28 April 1952 in Latakia)[1] is a Syrian politician, senior Syrian Arab Army officer and current Minister of Defense. He was appointed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on 1 January 2018.[2]

General Ayyoub has a long experience in commanding of manoeuvre formations, and also recognized as specialist of land warfare. He is an Alawite.
