Allkpop (stylized as allkpop) is an English-language, U.S.-based Korean pop blog[2] launched on October 30, 2007 and based out of Edgewater, NJ. Owned and operated by parent company 6Theory Media, allkpop is one of the most trafficked K-pop news site with over 4 million readers per month,[3] and its articles are often cited by numerous publications around the world.[4][5][6][7]

According to The Korea Herald, allkpop is currently the "fastest news breaker" in the K-pop music scene.[8]

Reception

In 2010, allkpop generated more Web traffic than any Korean music portal in South Korea,[9] and a quarter of total Web traffic came from Europe.[10] In the same year, allkpop scored licensing rights to live stream CJ E&M's global awards show, the Mnet Asian Music Awards.[11] At the 2009 Mashable Open Web Awards, allkpop was awarded "Best Breaking News Site[12]" and at the 2010 Mashable Awards, allkpop was awarded "Must-Follow Brand.[3]"

Allkpop Awards

In December 2010, the inaugural "allkpop Awards" were launched in order to identify the most popular K-Pop artists worldwide based on a large-scale online voting system. In 2012, the awards were presented by the South Korean web portal Naver and brought in a total of 8.6 million votes.[13]
