Hiyama Subprefecture

Hiyama (檜山支庁, Hiyama-shichō) is a subprefecture of Hokkaidō, Japan located on the Oshima Peninsula on the Sea of Japan side. It includes Okushiri Island. It was established in 1897.

On September 1, 2005 the town of Taisei from Kudō District and the towns of Setana and Kitahiyama from Setana District merged to form the town of Setana (now in Kudō District).
On October 1, 2005 the town of Kumaishi from Nishi District and the town of Yakumo from Yamakoshi District in Oshima Subprefecture to form the new town of Yakumo in the newly created Futami District. The former town of Kumaishi moved to Oshima Subprefecture at the same time.
