The Midland Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of one county – Midland – in West Texas, anchored by the city of Midland. As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 169,983.[1] The metropolitan area is also the fifth largest economy in Texas, with a 2024 gross domestic product of $53.7 billion.
The Midland Metropolitan Statistical Area is also a component of the Midland–Odessa–Andrews Combined Statistical Area, which covers four counties (Midland, Ector, Andrews, and Martin) with a population of 385,854 as of 2025.[2]
