Mullanpur Dakha is a town and a nagar panchayat in Ludhiana district in the Indian state of Punjab. It is also known as mandi Mullanpur as it has a grain market for the surrounding villages. Therefore, this town developed as the market and junction for goods and transport for surrounding villages.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Mullanpur Dakha had a population of 14,607. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Mullanpur Dakha has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 63%. In Mullanpur Dakha, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Transportation

Mullanpur is on the national highway 95 so has great bus services to and from both from Bathinda and Moga to and from Ludhiana also has a railway station and the other nearest railway stations are Chawnkimaan (7 km) and Ludhiana Junction (16 km). The closest airport, the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar is 3 hours away. Jangpur, Isewal, Mullanpur, Bhanohar, Raqba, Pandori, Rurka and Dakha are nearby villages.

Colonies: There are many large colonies. Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar (G.T.B Nagar) is the famous colony in Mullanpur. Link road, Harnek Nagar and Dashmesh Nagar is one of the posh colonies in Mullanpur.

Medical facilities

Ashmeen Medicos is a famous medical store[citation needed] in Mullanpur. It is at Main Chowk, opposite Raikot Road, near Akal Photo Studio.

Education

The main educational institutions are government primary and senior secondary school. Eastwood International School, Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, peace public school and Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Sudhar in nearby cities serve the village. Village GTB national college Dakha is famous in Ludhiana district.

Trusts and gurdwaras

Trusts: Gurmat Bhawan is the main and most popular trust in Mullanpur. This trust helps the poor and handicap children and educate them.

Gurdwaras: The most famous Gurdwara of Mullanpur is Gurdwara Mushkiana Sahib. It's a place of great historical significance. Other Gurdwaras include Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib and Gurdwara Singh Sahib.

Sports

Mullanpur is famous for its football team and has a lot of young talented players. Mullanpur FC is one of the top team in Ludhiana district.
