The South Island Line (West) is a proposed extension of the Hong Kong MTR metro system. The new line would serve the southwestern coast of Hong Kong Island, between Shek Tong Tsui and Wong Chuk Hang. Plans for the South Island Line (West) is mentioned and revised in the 2014 governmental railway strategy report and construction is expected to begin in 2021.[1] Together with the under-construction South Island Line (East), these two lines connects the Southern District to the rest of the MTR network.
