South Levantine (Arabic: اللهجة الشامي الجنوبية), a subdivision of Levantine Arabic, begins in the HaZafon district,[2] south of Lebanon, and is present in the Palestinian territories as well as in the western area of Jordan (in the ‘Ajlun, Al Balqa’, Al Karak, Al Mafraq, ‘Amman, Irbid, Jarash, and Madaba governorates).[3]
