Filming at CineSpace Studios?
[edit]Does anyone know if the film is being shot at CineSpace in Toronto? The official site for CineSpace hasn't updated its film credits list (only goes up to 2010). Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:49, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Don't know but you could always ask the director himself on his blog. http://michaeljbassett.wordpress.com/the-silent-hill-page/.Shaunthered (talk) 23:38, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- Well even if he answers, we can't use it as a source. It has to be in a 3rd party source. I've done a google search and can't find anything---only that Resident Evil: Afterlife was filmed there. I would either put a citation needed tag or remove it. —Mike Allen 00:01, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Non-free image
[edit]Regarding File:Silent Hill Revelation 3D filming.jpg, I do not think it belongs on Wikipedia per WP:NFC and WP:FILMNFI. The existence of a non-free image does not mean we are compelled to use it on an encyclopedia that promotes free content. When we include non-free images, we should have compelling rationales for using them. This particular image is not tied to any critical commentary. We could easily show living actors' images in the article, like Season of the Witch (2011 film) does. An example of where a non-free image is used well is Changeling (film) – Closing sequence. I would prefer to remove the image and wait until we have content for which a non-free image is a visual aid. For example, I'm sure we will have coverage about makeup and costume design, and we could include images to illustrate that coverage. Erik (talk | contribs) 21:21, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Regarding File:Adelaide Clemens as Heather Mason.jpg, this is a case of where a free image like this can be used instead because there is nothing in the non-free image has to be shown. Erik (talk | contribs) 22:14, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed. If we did use a non-free image, that sure wouldn't be an image to use. It's dark and doesn't show anything interesting enough to write about in prose. —Mike Allen 23:02, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
What the hell does that mean?
[edit]has been evading for years forces of a nature that she does not fully recognize and on the eve of her 18th birthday,
- Seriously, what is that supposed to mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.196.153.73 (talk) 05:08, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Based on what i know and played of silent hill 3 and sh in general id like to think there refering to the "order" tho if this is canon to the 1st movie the order was killed off the only other explanation would be that the otherworld of silent hill has been trying to reach heather if you know silent hill 3 you can figure out what i mean dont want to put spoilers here but thats what i think it means —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.90.153.162 (talk) 15:22, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, this movie basically is a remake of the story from the game, Silent Hill 3. 86.184.86.42 (talk) 21:36, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Adelaide Clemens
[edit]I would recommend removing the image of Adelaide Clemens from the article until it is large enough to accommodate it. Right now, the article is too spartan to put an image in the article body. Readers will still be able to go to her article and see what she looks like if they are that curious. In general, including free images of the people involved with the film is done to help break up a so-called wall of text that an article may have. We certainly don't have a wall of text here right now. Erik (talk | contribs) 19:56, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Oy Vey!!!
[edit]Boy, I do hate saying this, but as much as I loved the movie "Silent Hill", I do protest a sequel. Simply, the plot of first the movie skews with the theme of the video games. Second, the way the original movie played out, it was more of a horror fable with a definite moral of celestial justice (not to mention a lesson against selfish, manic, and ill-cautioned assumptions, and "flight forward" in the intial actions of Rose da Silva and Sgt. Cybil Bennett. (Also, remember the movie itself was such an unheralded surprise to the public that many didn't know about it until it reached cable). The story is more or less self-contained and this planned sequel may likely destroy the delicious impact of the first film. I fear that "SH-3D" will turn out to be the big joke that the "Resident Evil" franchise has become. It's like trivalizing a classic 1940s or 1950sA.D. "film noir" with sequels; the subject film I mean, not the characters. Besides that, I was sure the (along with all the other viewers) that the "Satan"-Alessa" entity was thorough in dispatching its damned, promised booty of cult members. Now there's another cult? And what of this new girl? Is she Alessa with an amnesiatic alias? Like I said, the script and the movie will bomb. BET ON IT!!! The fact that it is being filmed in 3D (and problably will shown in IMAX means that the public shall be treated to the cdonventional, over-the-top "gore fest"). Oh, yeah. And guess what? "HANCOCK2" will likely tank miserably for the same reason. --69.119.72.251 (talk) 01:33, 11 March 2012 (UTC)--108.46.160.212 (talk) 19:07, 26 December 2016 (UTC)Veryverser
Changed plot section somewhat
[edit]It seems people are making leaps of logic in the Premise section, so I changed that around. There is no evidence anyone named Harry is traveling with Heather. The only references to Harry in any sources are as a possible alternate name for Chris, nowhere has it been stated that a man by that name will aid Heather or journey with her. There is also no evidence that Rose travels with Heather either. Just because Rose is in the film does not mean she will be a companion to Heather. For all we know, she could just be a memory that manifests itself a few times. Also, I changed the wording about Claudia and Leonard, as it has never been stated or implied that either of them hold power over the allternate reality. Just because Claudia can make that reality appear in the game, does not make it so for the movie. 166.216.226.174 (talk) 01:46, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- The intended meaning is that the cult holds power over the town (not over the dimension), as the cited article by The Hollywood Reporter says, it was just confusingly written. The fact that Harry and Rose
accompany Heatherenter the town is stated in the "Mitchell & Bean Back for Silent Hill 2" article by IGN (I cannot locate any source saying that "Harry" is a possible alternate to Christopher, so I'm afraid this is probably original research, except if a source backing it up can be found), which says: "Devotees will finally be able to enter this realm along side of Heather, Vincent, Harry and Rose and experience the psychological horror and the fear of the unknown with them". Hula Hup (talk) 10:19, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
The "3D" section of the film title
[edit]Is the "3D" absolutely necessary? It seems to be more of a promotional aspect of the film in accordance to the growing popularity of 3D films more than an inclusion of the title itself. I realize the posters and trailers say "3D", but the name of the film isn't really "3D" — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlbertWesker411 (talk • contribs) 20:59, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- Sometimes it is actually the name, as stupid as that is. Like Piranha 3DD or A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas. Have to wait for it to be released or clearler info to come along to know for sure. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 21:11, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- If you read the first line of the credits on the poster here, it doesn't have the 3D label, so it is just meant to be Silent Hill: Revelation. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 21:23, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Now that the movie has been released, does anyone remember if the 3D showed up in the opening credits? The 2D version on DVD/Netflix doesn't have it. UpdateNerd (talk) 22:16, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- If you read the first line of the credits on the poster here, it doesn't have the 3D label, so it is just meant to be Silent Hill: Revelation. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 21:23, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Plot
[edit]I have copy edited the plot to bring it down to a more reasonable size and to not cause serious mental trauma, but I am struggling a little to explain the town? I don't quite understand how it is meant to work and I haven'ts een the film, so it is an ash dimension, but Heather and Vincent can just arrive in it? The police at the end just drive into it? It's a bit confusing and I can imagine it will be for other readers, so if anyone has a clearer definition of dimensions, it would be handy. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 14:02, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Production infor that can be used
[edit]In December 2006, Christophe Gans confirmed that a sequel was "officially ordered and well on the way."[1] Gans later pulled out and production was delayed for various reasons though Roger Avary initially signed on to write the script.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
According to producer Don Carmody, the sequel would be more accessible to the movie-going public: "Silent Hill is not a blockbuster game like Resident Evil or the other games out there. It's a connoisseurs' game. It has its own, rabid fan base. They're not cheap, these things. You have to appeal not only to the gamers, you have to appeal to a wider audience." Carmody also stated the film would be set "years later" with the main character "much older."[9]
In November 2010, it was confirmed that Michael J. Bassett would direct the sequel, titled Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. It would center on Heather Mason (a character taken from Silent Hill 3) when she starts having nightmares that lead her to Silent Hill and the mystery of her father's disappearance.[10][11] Bassett revealed he had written his own screenplay, apparently replacing Roger Avary. He added that he would bring back as many of the core creative team as he could from the first film to keep its look and feel but add "more darkness and fear into the mix as well".[12][13] Filming began in March 2011.[14]

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D → Silent Hill: Revelation – The original theatrical release had 3D in its title (à la Dredd) but the 3D has since been removed on its home release, and for good reason. The film's official title is simply Silent Hill: Revelation, as referred to in the especially notable reviews. I don't believe that the "3D" should be included when it adds nothing to the article. Also, see discussion here. Corvoe (speak to me) 15:34, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- Support per film's submission @ BBFC and usage on Rotten Tomatoes and the poster billing block. DWB (talk) / Comment on Dishonored's FA nom! 13:20, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- Support per Blake above; the title without "3D" is considered official, and independent sources have written the title without that element. I think in general, "3D" can be dropped since post-theatrical viewings are hardly in 3D at this point in home media. Just need to reflect in the article body that the film was screened in 2D and 3D. This article could be expanded a bit more
[edit]This article could be expanded a bit more, there should be a section that talks about the film's style and it's visuals. The reason I think this should be added is because all off the articles of films based on video games have these sections, (not good excuse but at least it is one).--Paleface Jack (talk) 02:00, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
Travis Grady and Silent Hill: Origins reference
[edit]I've just putted two references on Travis Grady, as he's the main chracater in Silent Hill: Origins (a prequel of the original game). You can check it for yourselves if you want, just dont erase it. There's a reference to downpoor already so this is fir enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drumerwritter (talk • contribs) 03:30, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
Psychological horror film?
[edit]This movie is not a PSYCHOLOGICAL horror film. Please either support the claim with a quote or remove it. 217.91.160.45 (talk) 06:42, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- I've deleted it myself because it wasn't quoted and because apparently nobody gives a crap anyway. 217.91.160.45 (talk) 12:53, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
