It has been serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Gangan Joker since August 2017,[2] and its chapters have been collected into seven tankōbon volumes.[3] In North America, the manga is licensed for English release by Square Enix Manga & Books.[4] An anime television series adaptation by Silver Link premiered on August 1, 2021 on ABC and TV Asahi's ANiMAZiNG!!! [ja] programming block.

Plot

Jahy, the feared and respected number-two ruler of the Demon Realm, suddenly finds herself powerless and shrunken in the human world after a magical girl destroys a powerful mana crystal, which also destroys her home realm. The manga follows Jahy and her daily life as she learns to live in her new surroundings while she works to restore her original form, the power crystal, and the Demon Realm.

Characters

Jahy (ジャヒー, Jahī)
Voiced by: Naomi Ōzora[5]
Jahy is the former aide to the Demon King and second-in-command of the Demon Realm who is now living in the human world after the Demon Realm perished. She aims to find mystic gems and restore her home world and her original body, which is in a child-like state after a magic crystal was destroyed by a magical girl, leaving her powerless. Though she struggles to adapt to her new surroundings and her current state, she remains confident, vigorous, and ambitious.[6][7]
Druj (ドゥルジ, Duruji)
Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa[5]
A former subordinate of Jahy's who goes by the name Dojima (堂島, Dōjima) in the human world. She is the president of a consulting company. While Jahy lives in squalor in a decaying apartment building, she lives elegantly in a high-rise condominium.[6][7]
Manager (店長, Tenchō)
Voiced by: Ai Kayano[5]
She manages a tavern called "Izakaya Maou" (居酒屋まおう, lit. "Demon King Tavern"), where Jahy currently works. She is very friendly with Jahy and gives her the nickname "Hy-chan." (ひーちゃん, Hī-chan)[6][7]
Magical Girl (魔法少女, Mahō Shōjo) / Kyouko Jingu (神宮 きょうこ, Jingū Kyōko)
Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka[5]
The magical girl that destroyed Jahy's home world, who works in the same tavern as her. She was originally an ordinary high school girl, but set out as a magical girl to save others after a mysterious light bestowed a mission to her. As a result of collecting the same mana crystals as Jahy, she experiences regular bouts of incredibly bad luck.[6][7]
Saurva (サルワ, Saruwa)
