Babu Kunwar Singh (1777–1858), one of the leaders of the Indian rising of 1857, belonged to the Ujjaini or ujjainiya Parmar(Earliest and most ancient Parmara clan) subgroup of the Suryavanshi lineage.

The main lineages[edit]

  1. The Agnivanshi also known as sub-clan suryavansha lineage,claims being blessed from Agni, the Hindu god of fire. Four main Rajput clans are considered to be Agni-kula(Sub branch of Suryavansha)(Since they were blessed by Agni-deva). They are Chauhans, Paramara, Solanki, Nirban and Pratihara.

Parmara ,Chauhana,Parihara are also falls within Suryavanshi Kshatriya lineage,who were blessed by Angi-deva to protect and fight for the sake of Khastriya on earth.

Gahadwal

The Gahadwal,(also known as Gahadvala, Gadhwals or Gaharwals), are one of ancient suryavanshi Rajput clan trace their ancestry from Ikshvaku(Suryavanshi) dynasty of Ayodhya,Even all Rathore Rajput of Rajasthan trace their ancestry from Gahadvala King Jai chand Gadhwal.

Bais (Byce)

The Bais Rajput, (also known as Bhains Rajput in certain regions), are a powerful and ancient Rajput clan composed of the wealthy, warriors, entrepreneurs, and zamindar (land owners).

The Bais claim descent from Lakshmana, brother of Rama. The Bais Rajput are renowned as warriors with the ability to maintain dominion over their empires. Their reputation was earned by their kings and landowners that ruled over northern India for and held vast tracts of land for the clan. Princely states of the Bais were Oudh, Lucknow, and Sialkot.They are divided into any sub-clans including Tilokchandi,Kath Bais,Parsariya,Sirmaur etc.

Jarral

Jarral rajputs is a hindu rajput tribe of jammu and kashmir and punjab.(although there are some muslims).Jarrals are the aryans.The jarrals are the descendants of rajas belonging to lunar race or chandravansh.After defeat in the battle of kalanaur(jarrals capital) by Shab-U-Ghori this chandravanshi rajput tribe moved to jammu and kashmir areas and some to punjab areas.The muslim emperor invited the jarral raja to accept islam and the raja accepted islam.After that he become a muslim devotee.But those who did not accepeted islam went to areas of jammu region,punjab and himachal pradesh.The muslim jarrals went to rajauri,kashmir and attaced on rajauri with 1200 sepoys.This dynasty ruled rajauri for 650 years and known as the longest rulling dynasty of rajauri.

Major Agnivanshi clans[edit]

Chauhan

Chauhan originated as feudatories of the Pratiharas and rose to power in the wake of the decline of that power. Their state was initially centered around Sambhar in present-day Rajasthan. In the 11th century, they founded the city of Ajmer which became their capital. In the 12th century, their the then King Prithviraj Chauhan acquired Delhi from his maternal grand father,the then Tomar King Anangpal II Tomar (see above under Tomars or Tanwars). Their most famous ruler was Prithviraj Chauhan, who won the First Battle of Tarain against an invading Muslim army but lost the Second Battle of Tarain the following year. This loss heralded a prolonged period of Muslim rule over northern India.

Nirwan

The Nirwan are of Agnivanshi lineage. Their state was initially centered around khetri, khandela, alsisar malsisar, srimadhopur, alwar, jhunjhunu, sikar, churu, According to legend and clan history, the Nirwan are with Maharana Pratap against Akbar in Haldighati Battle. Nirwan's have many gotras, most of these gotras are Baloji, Pithoraji, Kaluji. According to the Rajput bards the Nirwan is one of the four (and the last) Agnikula or 'fire sprung' tribes who were created by the gods in the anali kund or 'fountain of fire' on Mount Abu to fight against the Asuras or demons. According to legend:” Again Vashista (or Agastya) seated in the lotus prepared incantations; again he called the gods to aid, and as he poured forth the libation a figure arose; lofty in stature, of elevated front, hair like jet, eyes rolling, breast expanded, fierce, terrific, clad in armour with quiver filled, a bow in one hand and a brand in the other, quadriform (chaturanga) , hence the name was given as Nirwan”.(Nirwan is the royal rajput)

Paramara

Paramaras are Agnivanshi as well as Suryavanshi (as earliest Parmara were of Ujjain were suryavanshi Kshtriya and later, were blessed by agnideva to fight for the sake of Kshatriya on Earth,Samrat Vikramaditya was suryavanshi Ujjaini Parmar kshatriya) Rajput that were near-neighbours of the Solankis. They originated as feudatories of the Rashtrakutas and rose to power in the 10th century. They ruled Malwa and the area at the border between present-day Gujarat and Rajasthan. Bhoja, the celebrated king of Malwa, belonged to this dynasty. In the 12th century, the Paramaras declined in power due to conflict with the Solankis and succumbed to attack from the Delhi sultanate in 1305.
