Heads up after your wikibreak. Take a look at this article as it falls under your area of interest. :) --Bluemask (talk) 09:40, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I have very limited knowledge about the Zabag kingdom, and even fewer credible sources. And I am not yet absolutely sure how credible Paul Manansala's blog is as a source. So I'm not sure what to do with this. Any suggestions? -- Alternativity (talk) 05:20, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Tan[edit]

I have no problem with you creating a stub article about this man (I am only an admin and have only the editorial control that this implies). As I am sure you know, an artcle should be verifiable, with references and/or citations where appropriate, and should not breach copyright law. Happy wikying. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 12:37, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:Magazines established in 1985]] to articles/categories that belong in it.

I blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.

If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with {{db-author}}.

I believe I created that article and placed Sunday Inquirer Magazine under it, and then someone decided, without consultation, to merge that article with the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Much to my irritation. But there weren't many reliable sources about the Sunday Inquirer Magazine in the first place, so I didn't fight it at the time. I'm not going to fight this either, although I'd be very suprised if there were no other magazines established in 1985. What a horrible year that must have been if that's the case. If I ever pick up the energy again to create a more extensive profile of the Sunday Inquirer Magazine, I'll just recreate the article and recreate the category. In the meantime I won't complain if its deleted, and will just sit here licking my wounds. haha. -- Alternativity (talk) 04:22, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Swords[edit]

Sorry, not too familiar with most of those weapons but I can try. I'm familiar with the kris as a stabbing weapon (mostly). The wavy pattern is supposed to increase the cutting edge without compromising the weapon's length so using it would be akin to either dagger-fighting or even close to Western fencing.. The dahong palay sounds similar to those tools used by gardeners locally, which based on their shape and handling, I'd say could either be used as throwing blades (smaller ones) and/or as butterfly swords (chinese-styled). Sounds like a smaller chinese Dao. The kampilan kinda looks like a straighter saber, although it's a lot smaller/less massive than the comparatively-shaped falchion...but I'd say it's wielded the same way. Wide, arcing swings with a lot of weight and force being committed into each strike. The panabas on the other hand looks to me like the Egyptian khopesh...a bit primitive, combination axe-blade and unwieldy. Even the lack of a pommel/cross-guard seems to suggest that this isn't a dueling/combat weapon so if it *was* used in combat, it probably had to be in conjunct with a blocking apparatus like a shield (more probable) or a parrying blade. Hope this stuff helps! :P Shrumster (talk) 19:36, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh, sorry. Might be out of town around the 20th, depending on my mom. I do all my martial stuff freestyle - no affiliation with any school or style whatsoever. Nothing formal either. :P Shrumster (talk) 15:59, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You know, that page still needs serious work :-D The thing with protection is, it does prevent well meaning first time anon editors from making good edits. And I think that's worth the irritation brought about by the pageblanking/expletive-adding/self-advertising/general defacing crowd. :-D Hehe. Thanks for watching over this page too. I think it's a pretty darn important page. I'm sure you do too. Thanks, too, for that. -- Alternativity (talk) 10:52, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kaleidoscope Pattern Barnstar[edit]

Kaleidoscope Pattern Commemorative Barnstar
Alternativity, I award you this Kaleidoscope Pattern commemorating the passing of Francis Magalona. It is given in recognition of your tireless efforts to improve the Francis Magalona article, and protect it from vandalism, honoring the memory of "the man from Manila" who believed in freedom and respect amidst diversity, just like the wiki way. --Jojit (talk) 03:30, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

well i would like to say that Francis MAgalona also hosted a show in QTV 11 that show is "FAM JAM" I believe it was co-hosted by Maxene as well..it is a contest of families showing of their talent together...so I hope you can include that on Francis' list of tv appearances/shows. You could do it yourself, if you have a source you can cite. :-D That's the entire beauty of Wikipedia! :-D I just happened to have done a LOT of editing on that page, but I certainly don't have a monopoly. People of "Every color, every hue" can edit Wikipedia. And yes, that's "Represented by Me and You." Go on... edit. :-D ("Just think, will this pen ever run out of ink? Yeah? Regarding the Kingdom of Tondo[edit]

I will put the part about the tondo being the capital of Luzon Empire on the alternativity Luzon Empire page page later...Kasumi-genx (talk) 05:56, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also made a mirror page/draft page in my account where I will add more information, especially about Luzon Empire later onKasumi-genx (talk) 05:56, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kasumi-genx. I'm was only keeping that archive to help me identify the sources associated with the old article as I monitor "Luzon Empire" references in other articles. (I don't speak Chinese, so to disprove the Chinese-origin theory, I had to go ask for help - I didn't want to do that again.) The proposed "Lesser Song/Luzon Empire" has been established as conjecture (a "fringe theory") as per Wikipedia:No Original Research. You're right, there's a Kapampangan, not Chinese, kingdom that existed before the arrival of the Spanish, but that is under the article Kingdom of Tondo. I suggest you bring up THE BIG QUESTION of whether Tondo was Kapampangan or Tagalog at talk:Kingdom of Tondo. But all my readings so far suggest the Kingdom of Tondo was Kapampangan, not Tagalog, and the area we now know as Tondo was just taken over by Tagalog culture later on. I deleted the rest of that archive because it just kept the Chinese origin theory alive. Hope you don't mind.

I don't know any kapampangan for now,but I believe that the people in Bataan,Bulacan and other areas where kapampangan was once spoken should not alienate their kapampangan heritage and kapampangans should not alienate the former even if they are now speaking tagalog,I don't really care what is my ethnic/tribal affiliations either (I think many pinoys think that way) but for me it is important to conserve and improve the local culture(s) of towns and areas we have,I think pinoys are more town-centric than ethnocentric..Kasumi-genx (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:29, 19 July 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Regarding the Northern Cordilleran Languages[edit]

Northern Cordilleran Languages look like relexified Central Luzon Languages....Kasumi-genx (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:53, 27 August 2009 (UTC).[reply]

I'm not actually any kind of language expert... care to give me the links that will demonstrate what you mean? :-D I AM curious. :-D Have you gotten in touch with Chritopher Sundita, btw? -- Alternativity (talk) 04:20, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not really but I had seen similarities between Kapampangan and Ibanag or other Northern Cordilleran languages,I had seen more similarities between Northern Cordilleran Languages on grammatical side or on the particles although many words of of Northern Cordilleran are similar to Ilocano,I even think that Northern Cordilleran and Kapampangan had a dialect continuum you can check on Gaddang and Kapampangan,I once classified Philippine Languages on basis of Pronouns and Northern Cordilleran Languages fit on the same classification as kapampangan...

Kasumi-genx (talk) 08:04, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I discovered the answer, the philippine idioms had a dialect continuum that is the reason why adjacent idioms tend to be similar.--Kasumi-genx (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 10:37, 10 December 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Usage of Kita?[edit]

1.Kita-I_You
2.Kita-They,dual pronoun

I think Kita is an an analogy of Daka that is used by the Northern Tagalogs who used to speak Kapampangan.Kasumi-genx (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:37, 27 August 2009 (UTC).[reply]

I have lots of ethnic Phil. swords, just tell me what you need :)[edit]

Hello :)

I'm new here in the world of Wikipedia editing (and I'm in Manila by the way). And my passion is collecting ethnic (antique and vintage) Philippine swords and knives. Thus my plan is to write as many articles as possible about them in Wikipedia, and use as photo references the ones in my collection (or any other legitimately available resources in the Internet).

So in case you need any pics or images, just please tell me and I'll find out if I have them, or alternatively where I think you can find them.

For one, this international ethnic swords and blades forum is a very good resource.

The antique Filipino ethic blades recently displayed for instance at the Macao museum exhibit came from the collectors in that forum.

Me ["migueldiaz", in that forum] and a few other Pinoys and Fil-Ams are active in that forum. Some of the threads there I contributed a lot are: Origin of the Kampilan?; Origin of the kalinga axe; and Of bolo rush & bolomen.

There's a lot of things to be rediscovered in the Philippines' past. And I thought that one area to focus on would be the wonderful world of Philippine blades.

And I hope that we can do some form of collaboration in developing articles related to those :)

PS - By the way, my own little contribution to enlarging the consciousness of Filipinos to their past would be through this website I've just started. Hope you can visit it.

I hope to be back from my wikibreak soon, and will be able to return to give the much-needed attention due to pre-colonial Philippine history articles. Luzon is not the original name of Luzon[edit]

If that's a well-documented enough theory, I think the creation of sections in relevant articles would be in order. I don't quite buy it yet myself, but if this has been put forward by reliable historian in refereed journal, then I think you should create the relevant sections. Mind you, though, refereed history journals.-- Alternativity (talk) 10:54, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Luções has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about the historical name of the Philippine island groups called Luzon, which the history about Lucoes may be added to the history section of Luzon to project expansion.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JL 09 q?c 14:03, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
