Help needed

[edit]

Thanks Dwai for the copyedits and the FAC comment. However I am not too sure in what style the figures are supposed to be added. Can you guide me or edit them yourself? And I must applaud you for your work in regards to Gangtok KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 15:00, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New message

[edit]

Hello User:Dwaipayanc, I was really impressed with your work on Preity Zinta's article. As you know by now, I really want Kareena Kapoor's article to become a GA. I was wondering if you could take a look through Kapoor's article and do some copyediting. If you could do so, I would really appreciate it. After that, I am looking to do a peer review for the article and ultimately making it a GA. That is as far as I would like Kapoor's article to go. What do you say?? Can you please help me?? Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 01:49, 10 June 2008

re: A question

[edit]

I'm not sure if Pavanar article falls under the Classical Tamil Wikiproject. He did publish useful works on etymology etc., apart from the now debunked dating of Sangam literature that he contended. But, that wikiproject seems to about the literary works of the Sangam period itself, I think. In any case, thanks for the message. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 15:25, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Award templates

[edit]

Hello Dwai!

One user has started creating tempates for Award winning films of Filmfare and National film awards. Here they are: {{FilmfareCriticsAwardBestMovie}}, {{NationalFilmAwardBestFeatureFilm}}, {{NationalFilmAwardBestActor}}, and even categories -- which means he will continue creating templates for all the categories.

I personally have no problem with such templates (actually there are similar templates for the Oscars), but I'm afraid it will make articles cluttered and overly loaded with templates. This user, who is a newcomer, seems to be a valuable editor. Yesterday I asked him to stop creating templates until I get some consultation, because I don't want him to get finished to find out how his hard work is deleted. That's why I turn to you. Please tell me what your opinion of the matter is. Regards, ShahidTalk2me 18:35, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dwaipayan. If you remember the time when this article secured the GA-ship, I'd mentioned that I'd be adding material to this article that will increase its breadth and comprehensiveness. Right now, I've added some merchandising and the film's influence on the society to the article. Whenever you are back and have the time to have a look at it, please do let me know of what you think of its present state. I thought is that it might need a good copy-edit and then, I believe it will be ready for an FAC. Your thoughts are welcome. Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 14:17, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dwaipayan..nice to see you reply. Hmm, I'd believe you when you say the collage of advertisements will not be accepted. But it will be a pity if it weren't because it is a genuine way of depicting the influence of the film graphically. I don't know. Along with it, there are 3 non-free fair use images. I hope that is alright. The FAC can be anytime actually, but this time I would like some editor to perform a close copy-edit to ensure it is pitched well at the FAC first-up. I'm not sure if you have the time to do so. But these are my present thoughts about this article. Mspraveen (talk) 16:14, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Civic administration

[edit]

Dear Dwaipayan,

I have prepared a map that illustrates and I think clarifies the "adjacent areas" and also other matters of jurisdiction as posted in the Civic administration section by me and others. I would like to post this map on the Kolkata Discussion page in order to first get feedback from others. However, I am not sure if it is possible to post such an image (a .jpg file) on the Discussion page. Consulting the Wikipedia Help pages, I have not been able to find a way to do this. Can you please advise me how to post this .jpg on the Discussion page, or otherwise bring it to the attention of you and other editors? Thanks.

Also, on the main Kolkata article page, I have now added two references for the Civic administration information that I had originally posted.

Pather Panchali

How is the work going on Pather Panchali? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 02:13, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up

[edit]

I thought you might like to know that the Awards Center page has been deleted, along with its newsletter.  :(

So, where do we go from here?

To new and even more interesting projects, of course!

As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.

Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon.

It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them!

This is going to be interesting.

And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!

If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know.

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

The Transhumanist 21:43, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pather Panchali, etc.

[edit]

Heh! Dhonnobad! :)

Now, I wonder whether anything is preventing me from reviewing the article for GAC. I mean, have I contributed to the article "significantly"? What is "significant" about making a few minor edits (while other editors were hard at work actually improving the article) and maybe raising a concern or two on the talk page? :-D --Kuaichik (talk) 05:41, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dwaipayan, I noticed that you've beautifully endorsed the article with impressive set of references. I wonder where and how you get your sources from. I was hoping to get your inputs on this so that I might stand to use your ideas for me further contributions. Btw, how's the weekend going on? Cheers!
