Cheers for the peer reviewing errabee, you're the man. Have made the changes you recommended, its' wiki-ed out. It's lookin pretty good now Joelclintonfan 01:21, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for having a look at my Joel Clinton page. I have implemented the changes you recommended, and am planning on uploading some images in a few hours.

I would appreciate if you took a look at the page in a few days, perhaps it is now worthy of a B-Class rating?

Happy New Year![edit]

Happy New Year! (Ukrainian: З Новим Роком!, Russian: С Новым Годом!). I wish you in 2007 to be spared of the real life troubles so that you will continue to care about Wikipedia. We will all make it a better encyclopedia! I also wish things here run smoothly enough to have our involvement in Wikipedia space at minimum, so that we can spend more time at Main. --Irpen

FCW[edit]

About the Russia WikiProject "WikiProject Russia, an attempt to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to articles on Russia on Wikipedia.". Doesn't really fit it as it basicly has nothing do with Russia (or Soviet Union that matter). It's already part of Russian military project (due to the few russian troops). I don't want any fight, but well, seeing a Russian flag first in the talk page (as well it's the biggest template) makes me confused, Russia? Also, it's in category russia (after many many other categories inside them), due to the fact it can be classified as part of Russian Revolution (or what you want to call it, bolshevik revolution), but isn't part of any Russian conflict itself. --Pudeo (Talk) 20:40, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It hasn't really anything do with Russia. It is part of the Revolution of the (bolsheviks) Russian state (not in the context russian revolution) Anyway, I question your motives. You want only FAs for projects you are an active member and therefore "advance" the project. I don't see any reason why it would be on the scope of the WPRussia, maybe in the scope of Russian/Soviet Military project (which it is) because of the 4,000-10,000 volunteers. I don't want any edit war but I can't really agree on an issue I don't. PS. I am not just any user browsing the article, I contributed to it and nominated it for FA. I hope you understand. --Pudeo (Talk) 17:40, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What? Illumeen (including his various) IPs built the whole article. He is a mature, expert user. A true expert on the topic (he has written almost the whole article, incredible amount of work in the citations also). I was asking his opinion about it being called Russian topic. I am not part of any projects expect the History project. I browsed Russian categories, and even some articles which clearly are about Russia, and only about Russia do not have the tag. So doesn't it seem bit weird to pick enthusiasticly FAs and increase the count.. You yet fail to say, or even comment, why it is a Russian topic. --Pudeo (Talk) 17:53, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, I only added the russian revolution category 4 years after the article was created; it was already FA. It should not be in the category of Russia, but in Russian Revolution (or its contemporary events). Still, I see no reason why it should be in project Russia. It did fine before you added the template. I don't think the topic is important enough to be included in those releases anyway, so atleast I don't have any interests in it. Isn't it a duplicate project also? Since it is Soviet/Russian military project, and should not be any other because isn't related any other way. Sure this is getting boring and so on.. but what you can do when neither do agree. I also inform you that I will continue my revert on the issue aslong I have the right to rightfully do so.--Pudeo (Talk) 18:15, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Finnish Civil War and WikiProject Russia[edit]

Ah, what a mess. Some thoughts, in no particular order:

  • The conventional practice has generally been to allow WikiProjects to tag articles that they consider to be in their scope without interference. I am distressed to see WikiProject banners being removed so tenaciously; there isn't really anything bad about having them there.
  • Editors conversing in Finnish are being extremely impolite and needlessly inflammatory; we've had too many similar situations in the Russo-Polish arena for anyone to still think that this is a good idea.
  • There needs to be some sort of understanding reached between WikiProject Russia and WikiProject History Russian History, since a lot of tagging will be redundant between the two. My own suggestion would be to turn the latter into a task force of the former, but it's not really my place to decide what actually happens. (It would be nice if the noticeboard could be absorbed into the WikiProject as well, incidentally.)
  • Your banner is rather large; I would look at reducing the amount of text there. Does it support the small-form option, incidentally?

Kirill Lokshin 00:32, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category:FA-Class Russia articles. So Russia related topic, really fits in there. Errabee, I guess you aren't really familiar with the topic? Finland was an independent country, NOT part of Russia. The conflict started after the possibilities of Bolshevik Revolution and their support. Russia article, yeah... PS. As you see from Illumeen's page, that long discussion wasn't about you. We discussed improving the article in Finnish (what we can do best), as you should see from the dates of the signatures there.. Only one line was about your rather offensive comment that I am making a lame edit war and I am playing nationalistic games. Illumeen did not comment that. Again THIS IS NOT ABOUT RUSSIA, please understand. I didn't care that much at first, but after your comment (that I found offensive) I decided keep my valid point. --Pudeo (Talk) 10:16, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I guess I can accept it now. But when we're talking about Battle of Austerlitz, doesn't Russian military history project describe it best? As in this context too. Russia Project is just so broad for it; it should be only used for Russia geography and similiar things, the Russian history seems to be different also. I am not saying this as an argument again, but to ask about the usage of the project: why sister projects exist then? And yeah, about the templates. Those are big, we could add a German, Finnish, Swedish, World War II etc templates also, since all contributed troops. But still, WikiProject Sweden would be very broad to describe 550 volunteers.--Pudeo (Talk) 13:26, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It should be pretty easy to add, since you only need a few lines of code; see WP:TPT for what's needed to enable it. Kirill Lokshin 23:35, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good, and I put the small option to the template. (See Finnish Civil War talk page). It seems it works, though I thought it doesn't because the text differs from the big version. But that's just better, I guess. And sorry for the earlier. --Pudeo (Talk) 16:23, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anton Chekhov[edit]

Many thanks for putting the article forward for Good Article status, which it has now passed. I'd rather not see it put up for Featured Article yet—even though it might well pass—because I am busy with another article at the moment, which I hope to put up for Featured Article in the next week or two, and also because I still have half a Chekhov biography to read and also his Notebooks, both of which should provide me with the details to make the article pretty much complete.

May I take this opportunity to wholeheartedly apologise for any snappiness I may have fired off in your direction late last year, when I see now that I misunderstood what you were doing. All the best. qp10qp 09:10, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Erast Fandorin[edit]

You are quite right; I made a mistake. I had never moved a page before, and I did this, when I was supposed to do this. As for the blurb about Bromfield being selected--it seemed a bit of unnecessary detail, but I will put it back. Vidor 22:55, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More on Fandorin[edit]

Looks like you got the edit histories merged; thank you for the correction. I have a question which you might be able to answer. There seems to be some uncertainty as to whether the tenth book in the Fandorin series should be titled "The Diamond Chariot" or "The Diamond Vehicle". Looks like Dbachmann changed it to "Vehicle" on the Fandorin page. I don't speak Russian, but online translators are telling me that "Колесница" translates out to "chariot". Can you shed any light on this? I know that "Diamond Chariot" certainly sounds much better in English. Vidor 15:33, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Removal of importance ratings on Romanov articles.[edit]

I think I was the one who originally assigned an importance rating to those articles without realizing I shouldn't do it. Since I have done much of the revision and rewriting on those articles, I decided it would be most appropriate for someone else to assign the importance rating, which is why I blanked them.--Bookworm857158367 04:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Newly registered user asking a question.[edit]

Hi, I just registered tonight after considering posting the text of Constitution of the Russian Federation. After realizing that generally Wikipedia does not include entire the text of such documents I declined to do so. I did however, note the great amount of information and analysis of the constitution of other nations and wondered why there is so little information about the Russian Const. Currently only the preamble is quoted and links to the specific sections are given (but these are dead links)the only other facts pertain to the ratification, etc. I'm coming here to ask approval to add information to the sections and if possible seek help, and information on the proper format. I haven't yet figured out how to message users, so if this is read you may contact me at email address removed. Thanks and I look forward to posting here and elsewhere on Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HunterSGuthrie (talk • contribs) 02:35, 19 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Reassessment of Lucille Ball[edit]

I re-assessed Lucille Ball as B-class rather than Start class, because the article had resembled the criteria for B class. Real96 15:24, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fine by me. As far as I'm concerned, it is borderline between Start-class en B-class. But it is still a long way from becoming a Good Article. Errabee 17:31, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
At this point, I don't care about nominating this article for GA right now, but I personally felt that the article surpassed start, and should have been labeled B, according to the standards. Cheers! Real96 00:57, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Last push for the Biography Assessment Drive[edit]

We've done great work so far on the WikiProject Biography Spring 2007 Assessment Drive, reducing the 135,345 backlog by 38,626 to 96,719 as of March 20, 2007. We have only 6,720 more to go to get below 90,000. That would be outstanding and any extra effort that you can offer in these last few days of the drive (which ends March 24, 2007) would be much appreciated. If you haven't already, you may want to load Outriggr's assessment script in your monobook.js. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them on my talk page. -- Jreferee 23:14, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plato[edit]

No problem! But I suggest you take a look at the B-Class criteria of the WP:MILHIST and of the WP:GREECE for instance. This article has: a) a bad structure, b) inadequate inline citations, c) inadequate covering of some issues, such as biography. As an editor who constantly tries to improve this article and has rewritten parts of it, I'm definite it is a start-class. You regard start rating as silly; I regard B-Class rating as silly. Oh! And by the way, I have assessed many many article in the BIO project, when nobody was doing the job there.--Yannismarou 10:23, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK. It is no big issue anyway. Start or B-Class does not matter that much. The most important issue is the article to get better, because right now it is messy. I know Mocko. I have peer-reviewed his article on Aeschylus.--Yannismarou 10:36, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is really nothing to restore. The only thing that was there when I deleted it was a redirect to one of the other pages that this had been moved to (Robert I. Coulter if I remember correctly) and there was no history... which is why I deleted; it was a redirect from a talkpage for an existing article to a talkpage for a deleted article.--Isotope23 11:43, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. There is a very good chance that the original talkpage got moved somewhere else in one of the numerous moves on that page in the last day or so... I look around and didn't find any logical history to move back, but I could have missed something.--Isotope23 14:07, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not entirely sure what my motivation in doing so was at this point (I think I may have been adding all the relevant banners to the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/VA tagging articles at the time), and probably did make more than a few mistakes. Again, my apologies. John Carter 13:31, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you spent an hour looking for a missing name, you have more than sufficient cause to have gotten mad. I'll make a conscious effort to not make such mistakes again. John Carter 16:39, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you rated this as "B class at best", which indicates:

significant gaps or missing elements or references, needs substantial editing for English language usage and/or clarity, balance of content, or contains other policy problems such as copyright, NPOV or NOR.

This article has had considerable detailed attention to address any problems, and I can't see where it fails in the above criteria. Any pointers you could give (on the article talk page) would be appreciated. Tyrenius 04:22, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your rationale on this. I accept some of the points, e.g. some refs have been broken because they were to youtube (but to facts there, not video content, though both were on the same page). The issues of notability etc have had extensive discussion on the talk page, and I differ from you over that. The murderer is certainly not notable. She became notable through it because it engendered a worldwide reaction. It is essentially an internet meme, but it seems standard to use the name of the person, if it centers around them. Perhaps it should not be listed under the biography project? Tyrenius 01:59, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP Russia[edit]

I didn't remove them out of spite or anything, I saw that there already was a WP Russian history banner, and since the articles concerned history, that it would make things simpler - in that case why have a seperate WPRussian history? Might merge it with WPRussia in that case.. I also put in other relevant templates, just like I do with hundreds of articles - but I have been seeing both WPRussia and WPRussian history banner together in many articles, and I think that it is weird honestly. If every Russian history article is going to have a WPRussia banner, merge them (just like WPHistory of Greece was merged with WPGreece a couple of weeks ago). Otherwise they crowd up the place. I am not going to revert you or anything however.. cheers Baristarim 19:53, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You assessed this article as a B, downgrading it from A. To my eye, it seems very complete and pretty well referenced. What am I missing? Please let us know so we can improve it. Are you involved with the Bio project? Best regards, -- Ssilvers 04:42, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments, they are much appreciated.

I have noted what you have said about the article title, however would you allow me to change it. Also it should be moved from Shaykh Abdalqadir as-Sufi to Abdalqadir as-Sufi and not Abdalqadir as-Sufi al-Murabit.

Thank You. Just one more question, well, two more perhaps. Would those other pages remain and continue to be redirected to the correct page? What is the best method to create uniformity across the various foreign language wiki's. When someone else translated the article into Italian and put it on the it.wikipedia.org site it ended up in massive edit war and the guy got banned.

And one more thing, how does one improve the rating of a page? baie dankie (Afrikaans for Thank You very much) JoeSanchez 07:02, 10 April 2007 (UTC)JoeSanchez[reply]

So wikipedia has no standard that determines whether the contents of the same article are the same across different language wiki's (i.e the french article on Mozart can be totally different from the russian version.)

Do you think it's A-class now? I believe it substantially complies with the criteria? -- Ssilvers 18:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your further review and suggestions. We've done a bit more work on it, and Tim Riley is going to see what he can do about images. About GA versus A, from what I understand (having worked on a few FA article projects and only one or two GA projects), GA is the way to get recognition for shorter articles that are really finished: well-referenced and attractive, but there is probably not much more that need be said about them in an encyclopedia; while A-class articles are very complete, well-written and attractive major articles, but that may not have enough in-line references to be FA or need technical wiki clean-up in some way. I don't think that one is a step to the other. I think A is definitely a step towards FA, but that GA articles might often stop there. In fact, it seems to me, going through the GA process and then the FA process would be wasteful. Or, do you think this impression is wrong? In any case, thanks and best regards, -- Ssilvers 15:00, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moving pages[edit]

I'm perfectly aware of how to move pages (check my contributions earlier today) but very occasionally you get a page that won't move over the redirect for some unknown reason so you have to do it manually. Today I made 19 moves; 18 went fine but one (Spanish general election, 2000) would not go, so I had to do a copy and paste job (as I had to a few days earlier with Dudu Awat). Sorry to be blunt, but you should really check user contribution histories before being patronising! Number 57 22:05, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Russian history project[edit]

Hi, Errabee.

I am not sure what is the right answer. Maybe we can merge it with [[2]]? As far as I am concern the great deal of the Project-related work is done on P:RUS. Still there are a few things that is traditionally done by projects rather than portals:

  • Evaluation of articles (without it we would miss on Wiki1.0, Stable version, etc.)
  • Some solution to the category's mess

Can you please explain to me what should be done? Thanks a lot. According to the image pages Image:Time_Ataturk.JPG and Image:YouthGoingWest.jpg, it is a fair use. Should we add something else? denizTC 15:22, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found a template for fair use rationale there, but I am not sure that it is the one that should be placed on the article. Can you please point me to an article where a fair use image is used with its fair use rationale? Thanks a lot again. Sorry for being such a bother. denizTC 15:46, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

With regards to your assessment here, 58 inline references should be considered far and away enough - the only qualm you may have is the quality of the references or placement of them - references dont need to be scattered everywhere in an article - only where material is likely to be challenged. Also, I think the kind of assessment you're doing in places, downgrading well referenced article with a few words in an edit summary is slightly deflating for the main editors of an article. I remember reading a comment of SandyGeorgia, a fairly prolific FAC/FAR editor, that around and above 20 references would be perfectly adequate. RHB Talk - Edits 21:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, you didn't "hurt my feelings", because I havent written or edited any of the article. Though you probably haven't noted it yet, I'm a fairly experienced assessor that took part on the recent drive and replied yesterday to your proposal on the /Assessment talk subpage of WikiProject Biography. Really though, I think your sudden demotion of half the A-class articles is a bit quick, especially as there seems to have been almost no discussion on the matter of A-Class reviews and criteria which appear to have been set solely by yourself. A-Class review for Biogarphy project[edit]

I would like to submit the article on Leonard Orban (a GA) for a A-class review in the Biography project. But I am trying to follow the instructions and it doesn't work as -it seems- the Template:WPBiography (and the instructions from the Military History Project, BTW) has not been converted to include the parameter A-class=current. So I have to list the article in the A-class review page in the Biography project and to create WikiProject Biography/A-class review/Leonard Orban without including a parameter in Biography project banner in the talk page of the article. Can you help with this? Many thanks in advance, --Michkalas 14:55, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Biographies[edit]

I was surprised to see that page had been nominated here [3] for whatever an "A class" biography is, end even more surprised to see someone obviously more familiar with the A Class biographies than me felt it needed an info-box - It does not. In my opinion info-boxes on biographies appear like thise horrible cards children collect - are they given free with soap powder or something? Whatever - the subject was not a president of the USA, a reigning sovereign, just a woman who happened to be for a short time to be an "It girl" of late Victorian society - there is no justifiable need for an infobox. This subject has been discussed ad-nauseum on Wikipediam and still it won't go away. Giano 15:24, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:nationalism comment[edit]

Setting various issues aside, please note that you started the issue with your comment about "Polish nationalist movement", which many found unconstructive and offensive. That I overreacted may be the case, however it is you who should start with an apology (not to me but to all Polish editors of Wikipedia). If such an apology is issued, you can be sure I would apologize for any offence my comment might have caused, and this issue would certainly not resurface itself in your next RfA. On the latter subject, please note that I doubt this issue will resurface itself in your next RfA anyway (assuming it will take place in 6 months or later); unlike some people here I believe that "time makes right", and since I have not been aware of any other such unhelpful comments you have made since than, I am certainly prepared to forget about this single instance (for forgivness, however, one should find the strengh to apologize first). PS. I did not threaten you with ArbCom. I noted that it was repeated comments like this one - hundreds of them - that got Ghirla into trouble, and if you make a rule of them rather than exception - you will be in his place. Anna Wintour[edit]

Just to let you know, another bio project assessor gave it the A rating back in early March[5]. But certainly I'll look into what an A rating requires if more is needed. Daniel Case 12:39, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In a project as large as WPBIO, I can certainly understand the need to cut down on excessive A-ratings (it's a very nebulous boundary, especially with GA-class available through a more defined procedure). I have looked over the A-class system you've established and will likely be submitting for it. Maybe that's a model we should start using across the project.

I'm keeping it for fashion (if you saw our project (I have assessed most of the articles in it), you'd understand how at the top of the curve that article is) and journalism for now, though. Daniel Case 13:55, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Or do I keep my mouth shut and have people complain to you that people are discussing you behind your back. Well, now it seems the request will be denied anyway and point one is rather moot: I talked about you at [6]. Keep up the good work! --Pan Gerwazy 18:27, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having read the talk page of that time, I'm sure his account was hijacked by someone who first claimed he was dead and then started acting the Albanian nationalist - and sure as hell, someone who never liked him claimed "this is HRE pretending to be an Albanian nationalist, so that people may think his account got hijacked".
And of course, this story means he should make sure he has a better password now, but well, we know there were admins with rather easy to crack passwords until very recently. I do not know how his account got compromised but he did use an account with his uni to get onto internet. How good was security at that university? Did the program used for this sytem have a crypted database of logins and passwords? When the internet was very expensive 10 years ago I used a similar system - when I was allowed to be an admistrator of it for one day, I found out that admins could read other users' passwords. --Pan Gerwazy 22:49, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:This statement is exactly the problem[edit]

I thought about adding this to workshop but I am not familiar enough with ArbCom to know it is the best choice. Could you elaborate on why I should do this, and perhaps give me some examples of similar worship motions by parties?-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:06, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't like to refactor my statements, I have asked the clerk if it is permitted. I think I'd prefer not to refactor it, but just add my suggestions to workshop in appopriate format, if arbitrators and other involved editors will not do it themselves. I have presented my evidence and outlined what I believe is a fair and just solution, I don't think ArbCom needs any more from me. After all, they are supposed to make their own decisions.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:06, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
At the time it seemed like a good place to 'ask for justice', i.e. present what I think is a fair outcome of this debate. But now that I have learned more about ArbComs, indeed, evidence section is a better place for it. Thank you for your comments, if the clerk has no objections, I will add my views to the evidence section, and if he thinks it is acceptable, I will also refactor or remove the discussed part of my evidence.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:59, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Loss of Halibutt[edit]

Have you looked at the evidence I provided?-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  17:57, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess its a matter of interpretation. If editor used to make 1000+ edits a month and now makes ~100, I think its a loss of an active editor. Sure, he may still be more active than some, but he is way less active than he was. Again, that's a matter of interpretation, you can argue that he is still active - but I will politel disagree.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:09, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, he has once limited his edits before, in Feb-March'05, there was also a three month slump in summer that year. Never before, however, has he edited so little for so long, and his contributions has been showing a steady downwards climb for at least half a year. Adding to it his statements about causes of his withdrawal, I have concluded that he will not significantly resume his contributions until certain users stop his harassment. We have already fixed part of the problem: I am not aware of any conflicts along the lines Ghirla-Polish editors since the end of the previous year; hopefully this ArbCom will teach several other users to behave and will defuse another singificant part of the problem.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:59, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a shame that Ghirla is less active in en wiki content creation than he was, indeed; although Ghirla puts his time into ru wiki from what I hear, so its not like we are losing his contribs - they are just waiting to be translated. Seems like a good trade-off as dozens of other editors on en wiki can edit without previous harassment and in much more friendly atmosphere. That said, it appears that recently Ghirla has returned to his previous level of editing on en wiki, too - and I have so far not heard a single complain about his incivility, so maybe - if we are very lucky - he learned how to behave, and we are going to be seeing active, civil, content creating Ghirla on en wiki - I am keeping my fingers crossed that I never again have to deal with his incivility.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  17:16, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see Piotrus is baiting again? Or do you think Ghirla won't see this? Shame! --Irpen 17:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baiting is probably not the correct term, but Piotrus' answer is completely inappropriate. I agree fully that Piotrus has crossed the line with these answers. Errabee 18:07, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Halibutt's incivility has never been proven. Ghirla's has been by ArbCom. That said, I have no problems with Ghirla this year and hope it will not change; please don't bait him into changing his reformed behaviour. This is all I have to say about it. EOT.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Errabee, in my message above I did not mean that Piotrus was bating you. I meant that he was bating Ghirla. Sorry for not making myself clear. --Irpen 22:45, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I greatly appreciate the speedy response in regards to the A-class rating for William March. As requested, I have changed the image in question to the appropriate licensing and provided an apt (hopefully correct) rationale. Concerning your second point, I changed the reference format to a new one. The old format listed the page number of the citation, which confused me in regards to your request. Hopefully the changes I made were what you had in mind, if you get some time, tell me if it's close.

Cheers!

Hi, as you nominated the article, I'm afraid that I have failed it at this time. I have left what are hopefully extensive comments at the talk page of the article. I think it can get up to GA status, but there are some tone, POV, and copyediting issues at the moment that I don't believe can be resolved in the "On Hold" timeframe. Any questions, please put them on my talk page --Fritzpoll 22:19, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ratings[edit]

Thanks for leaving the note. I did not notice this at first. I only realized it yesterday, when I did make a GA rating, then changed it back to B. I apologize for not noticing this at first. Again, thanks for bringing this to my attention. ludahai 魯大海 23:13, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA Thanks[edit]

Thanks...
Thank you for showing your support in my recent RfA. Unfortunately, consensus was not really going my way, so I decided to withdraw my self-nomination last night. The final vote tally was (15/7/10). Your support does mean a lot to me, and I will certainly let you know when I go for my next RfA, most likely in a few month's time. Thank you again, and happy editing! Someone to help you with all the good work you've been doing[edit]

Tux knows that some people accidentally or purposely assess articles as FA, A, or GA without proper review. He is very happy that someone goes through all those big logs to help Wikipedia. He wants to help too!

On a serious note, good job on going through the logs. Make sure to let me know if the, leaders of the race, are assessing articles wrongly too often.</serious>

Have fun with Tux!

Your comments sound entirely reasonable to me. I came upon the article and saw that the Biography project hadn't assessed it, but that the Saints Project (before my time) had. I just wanted to ensure that the article got rated. I'm fairly sure if it gets "B" rating (which I wouldn't object to) the Project would probably make it a priority for collaboration. William March[edit]

Hello again... I appreciate your comments, as they help to guide me towards improvement. I realized after I nominated it for A rating that it needed some work, so I started adding critical analysis of each novel and had not arrived at the The Looking-Glass, October Island and his short story compilations...In regards to The Looking-Glass being his best novel, I think that most biographers and historians have argued this point in terms of literary content, but on the basis of historical importance, Company K or even The Bad Seed would take precedent. About the image, I do not currently know of any other free images that exist of March that are not from the WWI era, but I could be wrong. Soon I will be visiting some holdings of his work and letters; hopefully I will find an image that can be used instead.

Thanks again for your helpful words, I will revise and resubmit sometime in the future, but only after the introduction is expanded and the points therein are substantiated in the main text.

Cheers! - Diarmada 01:43, 22 June 2007 (UTC) [reply]

the Hoax of Argotta[edit]

Errabee, what do you mean with "until confirmed as hoax, it remains part of bio project"? I was hoping that one should understand my questions on the talk page of Argotta are purely rhetorical. The hoax is allready confirmed. So there is no reason to wait on 'confirmation'. It is possible somebody wants to expand on this hoax, but in that case we need information on the nature of the hoax. Since it is not usefull or encyclopic to call a hoax a hoax without further information, AND Argotta is not in primary sources of contemporain historians I intend to propose deletion of the whole article. So do you have info about the hoax, or not? johanthon 14:30, 24 June 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Rasputin article[edit]

Hi, thanks for submitting a lot of nice (IMHO) nominations for Version 0.7. The Rasputin article really needs cleanup, would you be interested in working on that? It's also been nominated for Wikipedia:Article Collaboration and Improvement Drive, perhaps you could vote there too? If you look at the talk page you'll see several scathing comments, with one very recent one highlighting some terrible content. I put the nomination "on ice" in the hope that the article would get cleaned up in time. Thanks, Walkerma 02:53, 29 June 2007 (UTC) [reply]
