Thank you for participating in my recent RFA

I appreciate your support and trust in my recent run for admin. I've had an interesting first few weeks and am learning a lot by being able to better watch (through tools) what admins do. Please call on me if you see making an error, or if you just need help. Thanks again. BusterD (talk) 17:28, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi Feyd. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:29, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Referencing help

Hi, in this edit you introduced references to "Green 2003" and "Skidelsky 2009" but did not define them. You also introduced "Cockett 1944", but defined the reference as "Cockett 1995". I have assumed these to be a typo for "Cockett 1994" and corrected them. If you could resolve the Green and Skidelsky references that would be great. Thank you, DuncanHill (talk) 02:34, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Your mention of the hungry judge effect generated a request for more information and so I have made a start. Thanks for the inspiration. Andrew🐉(talk) 13:46, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
And I'll add a further reading - academic paper I wrote a while ago about Wikipedia's judges, and how free time is a factor in their activity (which allows the few with more free time to dominate the discussions); I think I also cite some stuff on extraneous factors there: [1] (if the link ends up paywalled for you a copy is google'able in my academia/researchgate profiles as well as in Library Genssis). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:19, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
Cheers Piotrus, I knew you write papers about Wikipedia, but didn't know you'd written about the Arbs. FeydHuxtable (talk) 06:47, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your support in my plans to revise the page. I want to first say I am sorry if I offended you. I did not mean to slam the page and was simply wanting to share my thoughts. Please note that I'm in the process of making changes, so if you see something that is not perfect please don't immediately delete a significant portion of my work. Your username

Every time I see your name pop up on my watchlist I picture a cross between Sting in the 1984 Dune and Theo Huxtable from the Cosby Show, so thanks for that. It's consistently good for 10 or so seconds of chuckling every time. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 01:45, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

I often wondered about this too and so got to the bottom of it after watching the recent Dune movie. Sting does play a part ... But now we need to know what "ScottishFinnishRadish" is all about. It sounds like a what3words address but that doesn't work. Andrew🐉(talk) 11:03, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Oh that's easy enough, when I was younger, my roommate drew a picture of me as a 1920s bare-knuckle boxer, and said my ring name would be "The Scottish Finnish Radish." ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:13, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
I don't get it -- what's the connection between boxing and that name?  But note that boxing is also part of the FeydHuxtable story. I look forward to the title fight! :) Andrew🐉(talk) 11:34, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
No real connection, aside from whatever a 12 pack of pilsner can make. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:59, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Good to know, much need for the best medicine in current times. I've not watched the Cosby show, but yes my hair used to look similar to Sting in the Lynch movie. A glasgow kiss can be a good finisher, & some whiskys have raddish notes in the finnish, so I quite like your user name too. FeydHuxtable (talk) 08:32, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 23

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hooker with a heart of gold, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Antiphanes. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A kitten for you!

Thanks for the feedback and the help tidying up my Simone Weil edit 😊 May this playful little guy keep you company!

Your edit made way more sense, and the feedback on "copy edit" was a good reminder that I should probably elaborate a bit more on my edits.

Shawrkat (talk) 19:08, 28 May 2022 (UTC)

Thank you! Most cute. Been a while since anyone gave me a kitten, it's much appreaciaterd. I'm similar to yourself in that I sometimes like to make big edits where I change a lot in one go. I'd not say there's normally any need to worry about the making the edit a perfect summary of what you've done. But it is good if it indicates the most significant part. E.g on the Weil edit , if the ES had said 'Copy edit, minor restructre, etc' or even just 'Copy edit & add section header' , then I'd have had no cause for my mild complaint. Look forward to seeing you around! FeydHuxtable (talk) 05:31, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

DYK for UK cost of living crisis

On 29 June 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article UK cost of living crisis, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey said that about 80% of the causes driving the ongoing UK cost of living crisis are global? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/UK cost of living crisis. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, UK cost of living crisis), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi there @FeydHuxtable I was wondering if I could ask about your contribution to Kett's Rebellion? SteveBAlision (talk) 14:31, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

Of course you can. But have to admit that particular contribution was driven by a chance encounter back in 2011, not by the careful research of Wp:RS I normally like to do before my more major edits round here. While in Norwich I went to see Richard Murphy to talk about his plans for the global wealth tax and to buy a dozen copies of his then newly published book The courageous state, so I could give them to various up & comming members of the Labour party. I'd caught Richard just as he was about to visit the Norwich occupy camp. I asked if I could tag along as I was quite interested in the movement. As we arrived at the camp most of the occupiers were getting ready to attend an event at the Castle to commemorate Kett. It went on for about an hour and was such an experience, but I'm no where near enough of a poet to do it justice with words. Partly the lighting from huge flame torches, and even more the uncanny wind that was blowing round the castle. You know how in many ancient languages the word for Spirit & wind is the same right? Kind of felt like Kett was there with us. Ah, if only we could return to 2011, the last year before the smart phone became ubiquitous causing all sorts of social & psychic changes like the global sex recession (see Jean Twenge ) and massively boosted the spiritual forgetfulness we humans have always (See Hymn of the Pearl , the Consolation of Philosophy or Corpus Hermeticum ) been prone to. If youre more interested in historical detail for the rebellion itself you might want to try reaching out to professor Andy Wood. He was one of the speakers at the event; very friendly, approachable and loved to talk about Kett. That was 11 years back, he might be more guarded of his time now, but could still be worth a shot. Anyway, if you think I can help, ask away. (PS - may be a while before I reply, only on wiki quite intermitently these days, but I do always reply.) FeydHuxtable (talk) 08:15, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
That is not problem! I just though it was a bit of a strange image to associate with Kett's rebellion and wanted to know what the link was there! Thanks for the description and I hope you are keeping well SteveBAlision (talk) 22:32, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
Ah, I expanded the pic caption to make the link a little clearer for those that dont read the whole article text. Thanks for the feedback, and I hope you're keeping well too! FeydHuxtable (talk) 06:17, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

In terms of life wisdom, I much prefer your 9 words to the thousands I've typed out. But no, that's not what I was trying to say at all. For the TA in question, I'd suspect that unless one first shows sympathy / deep NPOV to the opponents concerns on a content level, then no matter how good a job you do at reaching out, its not likely to end well. Your 'what I learned editing EE content' is closer to my thinking on the TA. I really like that page overall. FeydHuxtable (talk) 17:41, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello FeydHuxtable. I am going to ask you—politely but firmly—to strike your comments at WT:RFA about Icewhiz. Icewhiz was indisputably a malicious editor, even if he could behave himself at times.

I would also ask you to consider striking your comments about Wifione. Attempting to use Wikipedia for commercial benefit is malicious editing ipso facto. HouseBlastertalk 23:33, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

OK. I'll strike as I can agree it was a disruptive thing to say. Normally I'd say more, but it's a sensitive matter and from a wikipedian perspective I shouldnt have said anything in the first place. FeydHuxtable (talk) 15:30, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Holiday Greetings

Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension.
