Orphaned non-free media (File:Evergreen Line logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Evergreen Line logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:11, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Endashes in football (soccer) seasons and scorelines

Hi, I noticed you'd been replacing a lot of endashes as written – with the character "–". Many editors choose the – format because it's clear in the editing box which sort of dash is being used: in my standard edit-box font, there's no visible difference between the endash character and the hyphen, and I imagine that's the case for many people. Regarding football articles specifically, these are regularly edited by inexperienced editors who have no idea that different sorts of dahes even exist, let alone that there are standards for using them. Where the dash looks like –, there's a chance such an editor will copy that format and so (unknowingly) correctly use an endash, but if it just looks like a dash of some sort, they'll use a hyphen. So I'd humbly suggest that it isn't really helpful going through articles changing one format to the other. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:31, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

For your ongoing contributions to Wikipedia and the fascinating facts about the world of sports you have added over these several months, it gives me great pleasure to present you with this recognition for all of your hard work. Silver Slugger FTC

I appreciate the consideration. Certainly no offense intended, but I was intending to take on the entire project myself. I actually thought you were working on another FT yourself. KV5 (TalkPhils) 11:52, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh OK. In this case, I'd actually prefer to do the work myself, but I appreciate the offer. KV5 (TalkPhils) 22:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
It's not a matter of me taking the credit all by myself or the amount of time it takes to put the FT together. I fully considered the time it would take before deciding if I could undertake such a project. I have no problems collaborating on work but I have some visions for how I wanted to go forward, and it's hard to explain at some points. I certainly have no grounds to keep you from helping out, but this is something that I had planned out as a project for myself (kind of a personal achievement goal). Again, certainly no offense intended. KV5 (TalkPhils) 22:24, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
If you're looking for ideas, my next project after this one is going to be the Gold Glove award lists. You're welcome to it if you feel up to it! KV5 (TalkPhils) 22:32, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

New FL criteria discussion: Final phase

Hello, I think we've hammered out a good revised Featured List criteria here. If this passes, there will be quite a few FLs that could soon be delisted just because of 3b. With that in mind, I'd like to get comments and opinions from all FLC regulars and everyone else who has participated in the discussion before it's implemented. Thanks, Scorpion0422 17:47, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

FLC nominations and reviews

Hi, SRE.K.A.L.24. You may not be aware, but the new Featured list criteria was implemented Sunday 5 April, 00:56 (UTC) following two weeks of discussion at Wikipedia talk:Featured list criteria#New criterion discussion.

I've gone through the nominations and have noticed the following have received reviews from you, but no indication whether or not you support or oppose their promotion to WP:FL:

  1. Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of awards and nominations received by Ratatouille/archive1 (List of awards and nominations received by Ratatouille)

Please could you take the time to revisit the articles and candidate pages, check them against the new Featured list criteria, and indicate whether or not you support or oppose their promotion to WP:FL. It would be much appreciated as the nomination will not have to be kept open any longer than necessary.

Finally, please accept my apologies for the brusqueness of this message; the same wording is being sent to everyone who has outstanding reviews, with only the names of lists being changed. Regards, Matthewedwards :  Chat  05:37, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi SRE.K.A.L.24, I've declined the speedy deletion of The Modular Man as my reading of the article is that its about an SF Book, and "No context. Articles lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Example: "He is a funny man with a red car. He makes people laugh." This applies only to very short articles." doesn't apply. ϢereSpielChequers 07:22, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Tagging for speedy deletion

Hi there. Please be more careful when tagging for speedy deletion. You tagged Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa as A1 when it clearly had both context and notability and could be easily improved by a simple Google News search. In future, rather use {{context}} if the context is not clear enough but the subject is identifiable. Regards SoWhy 07:41, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:List of IIHF World Championship medalists

The whole issue regarding that table was about who the IIHF recognized as a successor. It makes no sense, but they only regard the Czech Republic as the successor to Czechoslovakia, so that's what we put. What I meant by my comment was that the totals of the Czech Republic and Slovakia were being combined. This should not be done since the two nations compete against each other, so combining them isn't the best option. -- Scorpion0422 11:21, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

AFD and notifying projects

Hey SRE, just as an FYI, when notifying a project that an article is up for deletion that the project might be interested in, it is generally expected that a note be added to the AFD as well. Making the notification is perfectly exceptable and does not violate WP:Canvass if the notification is neutral and disclosed.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 16:22, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Your note

Thanks for the note. Sorry if you misinterpreted the edit summary, but there isn't any reason you should be offended, as it merely states a fact to help put the changes in context. Keep in mind that the summary has to rationalize the edit for all other editors, not just those of us who already know the system. As for the boxes, Commercial Drive Station connects to Broadway where you can board the Expo or the Millenium Line; going the other direction, Broadway connects to Commercial Drive where you can only catch the Millenium Line. Hope this helps. --Ckatzchatspy 07:17, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi David. As I can see that you're usually updating this template from the template history, I came to ask you to add more Wikipedias into the template that exceed 20,000 articles, but are, for some reason, not on it. I felt like wasting 30 minutes just to give you this information. :D Stats are correct according to this website.

40,000+

Krèyol ayisyen · नेपाल भाषा · తెలుగు

20,000+

Sinugboanong Binisaya · मराठी · Piemontèis · Srpskohrvatski / Српскохрватски

I really hope you respond to this by adding these into the template. Thanks in advance, and happy editing! -- [[SRE.K.A.L.|L.A.K.ERS]] 00:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello! To be included in the list, a Wikipedia must have a minimum depth of 5 (and there has been discussion of increasing this to 10). We also exclude Wikipedias composed primarily of stubs and placeholders (whose depths have been artificially inflated via automated edits). Of the above Wikipedias, the only one that meets these criteria is Srpskohrvatski / Српскохрватски, which I've added to the list. —David Levy 00:51, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining how most of these aren't on the template. Any way to tell other Wikipedians that don't know about the 5 depth rule for this template, so that what I just did wouldn't be needed? -- [[SRE.K.A.L.|L.A.K.ERS]] 01:03, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
This is a good idea, and I've added a note to the template's documentation. Thanks for your help! —David Levy 01:22, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
