BlueMoonset: Why do I keep getting this?--Launchballer 09:39, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Because it was never listed as promoted. Did this already appear on the main page? ~ RobTalk 10:03, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Although I never looked at the main page during its tenure I did receive a DYK credit for it.--Launchballer 10:09, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the page views, there's no way it made it to the front page. It also doesn't appear at Wikipedia:Recent additions/2014/July. According to the 2014 pulled hooks, it appears it was pulled for not meeting criteria. I'm guessing what happened, since it was an old nomination at that point, is that the day was removed from the nominations page by the time the hook was pulled from prep. That would mean that despite being approved, no prep builder would see and promote it. It's just been sitting there for over a year now. I can either close it out as rejected due to the human error that wasn't discovered for a year, or you can start a thread at DYK talk to see how people feel about running the hook. At this point, it's so old that it might be best just to close it out and call it a day. ~ RobTalk 10:33, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It'll be good to get closure since I'm fed up of the bot spamming my talk page (it did this the very first post of the previous archive as well). I wonder if I could get away with changing all the timestamps to read 2015 instead of 2014, sticking it in the same date it would have been in and seeing if anybody notices?--Launchballer 12:20, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I'm guessing someone would figure it out. The easiest way to prevent the notifications is just to reject it, unless you have a strong desire for this to reach the front page. ~ RobTalk 12:58, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As Rob notes, this was promoted to prep on July 4, 2014. It was pulled later that day by The Rambling Man, but I'm guessing that it wasn't a complete pull: he sometimes forgot, while removing the hook, to also remove the DYKmake template, so when the set was promoted to the main page on July 5, you would have gotten the credit even though the hook wasn't promoted. Meanwhile, since this was the last remaining hook from June 10, that date and the transcluded hooks under it were removed from the nominations page on July 4 between the time that the hook was promoted to prep and subsequently pulled. So when the hook was pulled, it couldn't reappear on the nominations page. It's up to you, Launchballer. Either of us can take care of it either way: reject or promote. I'm sorry that it was lost in the shuffle. BlueMoonset (talk) 13:25, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have in fact already started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Did you know per Rob's second comment.--Launchballer 13:37, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Which article or both?

[edit]

Hello, you placed the AfD tag on the page PrankvsPrank, but the AfD page is for Jesse Wellens. Are you wanting to discuss the Jesse page the PvP page or both? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:24, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

TheRedPenOfDoom Why on earth would I AfD an article which was kept less than two months ago? I had attempted to AfD Jesse Wellens, which had been autotranslated from another wiki, but the Twinkle action was abortive. I had already G7d the AfD nomination, I've now removed the template from PrankvsPrank.--Launchballer 21:42, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Potential admin

[edit]

Hi, I notice you're on Wikipedia:List of administrator hopefuls. Wikipedia would benefit from more admins. If you have been editing for more than 12 months (preferably 24+ months), and have been editing fairly consistently for the past 6 months (preferably 12+ months) with at least 100 edits a month (this tool will help) - or an explanation for any gaps, and haven't been blocked in the past three years - or a good explanation for a recent block, don't have a recent history of edit warring or arguing with other editors, feel you can explain why you wish to be an admin, can demonstrate some understanding of Wikipedia's procedures and processes, or know where to go for guidance, and are confident enough to go through a RfA, please get in touch with me. We can talk about it some more, and if all looks OK, I'll nominate you. SilkTork ✔Tea time 12:13, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

SilkTork: Although I've been editing regularly for nearly two and a half years, I checked my edit count with the tool. There are five months in the last twelve that have less than 100 edits, with last month, July, having more edits than those five put together (401 vs 373). In addition, I was blocked on 27 June 2014 for a week for edit warring, although I've voluntarily been following WP:1RR since, I still doubt I'd get very far at RfA. My most recent involvement in a dispute (and quite possibly the only major one since) was Talk:Freeze Out (game show), which I was told off for. (I still don't know what progress is being made with that RfC, but as the section's still there, I would assume that it's either been ignored or I've been proven right.) However, I did spend the week being blocked reading through many of the Wikipedia: space articles, so I have a rough idea of the site's procedures and protocols (and if stuck ask a third opinion) and I maintain an interest in at some point acquiring adminship, so if you still think I'm worthy of a mop, proceed with the nomination.--Launchballer 21:38, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for delay in getting back to you (I got a stronger response to my potential admin enquiries than anticipated, and I also became busy in other areas). I've not yet looked into your contribution history, so there are no promises, but as I like that you are willing to put yourself forward as an admin, I'm happy to give you honest opinion and advice regarding your potential to be an admin. It sounds like you're not quite ready at the moment, but when you feel you are, please get in touch with me on my talkpage or by email (I'm not watching your talkpage, and I have ping disabled), and we can chat a bit more, and I can look into your contribution history. A query

I see that you frequently submit music related DYK nominations hence I am asking you if the songs mentioned in Template:Scarface are all notable enough to have their own articles? Eagerly waiting for your response. Regards, --Skr15081997 (talk) 11:59, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The first two are alright, but need a reference at the end of each paragraph for DYK. The last two are questionable, and would warrant better referencing to survive an AfD - not that I plan on nominating.--Launchballer 12:42, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Any particular reason you want User talk:Launchballer/Template:Reflinks deleted? We don't usually delete user talk pages, per WP:DELTALK. — Earwig talk 18:46, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't expecting to have to justify my request to have part of my userspace deleted. I say it serves no further useful purpose. It was my understanding that invoking Template:Db-u1 was no questions asked?--Launchballer 19:15, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's an odd little case that I've never really thought of before. For some reason I thought it was an archive of (part of) your main talkpage, and those usually aren't deleted, but I see now that it's the talkpage of a deleted subpage. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
