Thanks
Thanks to everyone who congratulated me on my RfA; I appreciate it! Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 14:17, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Congrats (and thanks for the LOL re your thankyou) ... Re the point below, there's no pressure to sign up for recall, it's a voluntary system and many admins (including myself) have not done so. Orderinchaos 14:51, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Congrats! I hope you know that I voted in good faith, it is just that all users were bothering me and giving me a hard time for voting the way I did that made me insist on keeping it, which might unfair to you. Anyway, no hard feelings?
A man of honour (talk) 18:53, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes!....hm.... NO!.....hm... maybe?
Hello,
It will be a good sign if you make yourself open to recall, and since you intend to continue the same level of high quality contributions, you should have no problem at all. I am slightly leaning towards a "yes"....
Whatever you choose, I am sure it will be wise..
Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 14:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Again "Whatever you choose, I am sure it will be wise.." :)

Re: Failed GA article
I interpreted the questions differently. In any aspect, the article has still failed, due to the lack of information to support the subject. I am sorry for my misinterpretation on the actual meaning of the questions, and will use the information you have supplied to judge other articles. I will pass your article if you are to expand and add some more information on the subject, and also add some more pictures to help identify the article and its content. Happy Editing, Dustitalk to me 16:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Re: Failed GA article
Ok, let me look at the article again and I will let you know. Thanks for the bar :)....I thought it was a good idea. Kudo's to you!!! Happy Editing, Dustitalk to me 18:05, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- OK, to start off with, is there any more information about the IMO that you can put into the article? Meaning, more information about the group or historical information, to lenghten the article? Also, can you find any pictures of IMO in progress or something to make the article a little more lively? Happy Editing, Dustitalk to me 18:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Good job on the pictures, now, is there any more information that can possibly be added to the article? Happy Editing, Dustitalk to me 18:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Message you left me.
I noticed you left a message on my talk page, but reverted it. I hope you don't mind my answering your question here, because it was a good question that I do wish to address. The answer is that yes, I know my editing has been sparse and drawn out, but time permitting I do hope to contribute more regularly. scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 20:10, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

RE: RfA thanks
Hello Nousernamesleft! Hope you're working well with your new mop. :) It seems your thankspam has stretched out my talk page. Would you mind taking a look and seeing if you can fix it? Thanks in advance. GlassCobra 05:06, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Close, but no cigar. Turns out the thousand pixel picture was the problem. I got it though, thank you for looking! GlassCobra 18:28, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
WP:AFC Backlog Drive
WikiProject Articles for creation needs your help! | |
WikiProject Articles for creation has done a tremendous job in working at WP:AFC over the past 7½ months. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication! Together, we've made the submission process easier and more streamlined, developed tools to make the process go faster for reviewers, and cut the backlog down to a mere fraction of what it once was. Well done! As you all are aware, however, our work is not quite yet done. The project still has 10 archive pages left to complete, which include over half a month's worth of submissions, many of which have not been completely reviewed. We need your help to finish looking over these neglected submissions so that we can finally remove the backlog notice from the page, and put an end to the more than two year old backlog that has been a thorn in our side for ages! Participants will receive an AFC Barnstar, so hurry up and help out while there's still work to be done! Make sure to sign in on the WikiProject's talk page so we know who is involved in what promises to be our final effort to complete this goal. Thank you for all your help! |
You are receiving this letter because you are listed as a participant in the Articles for creation WikiProject at WP:WPAFC. To avoid receiving further notices, please remove your name from the list. Thanks!
Admin coaching
Actually I put it there so that one day if I apply for admin, I can say that I tried to get coached. I would not mind you coaching me; some tips here or there will not harm anyone. Thanks! Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 17:17, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! I noticed you match me with yourself on the coaching page, I did not expect to get a response that fast...The page is so backlogged.
- Regarding the subpage, I do not know. You are the coach, you decide for me ;) The school is exhausting my brain that I can not longer think properly. I do not think a whole subpage is needed nonetheless, I am not that new to WP anyway (or new for that matter.
- So, what is your first tip? :)
- ;)
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 17:30, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, I will reply here if you do not mind.
- I have all of them (TW+AWB+VP), although I do not use the latter.
- SO, here is a brief summary of what I did on WP: <bragging>
- I fight vandals, patrol new pages, recent changes.
- I work for WP:GL from time to time. Also I work for WikiProject neutrality and WikiProject Spam. More recently, I have intensified my efforts to get this WikiProject into shape.
- I copyedit, review GA article nominees, and vote at RfA's, AfD's and FPC's.
- 2.7 K of edits, 1K mainspace edits.
- 1 GA so far, but I am pretty sure the other article which is being reviewed right now will pass, then i will go for an FA.
- hmm, what else? oh, yes.. I have been welcoming new users since my first days on WP.
</bragging>
- I intend to use the tools to protect and delete pages, block vandals instead of reporting them, and delete pictures...also some at the DYK area will help the folks there.
- Cheers!
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 17:50, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Great tips. As for welcoming users, I do not believe I welcome a great number of them. It's just that recently I have been testing templates and user Java scripts to reach the perfect combination to allow a fast personalized customized welcome, which I finally did today...working with mgactions only made me realize that working with WP DOM is really difficult. Now, I can place a Welcome in less than 2 seconds..the script I am using is the simplest thing I came with.
- By the way, do you think {{W-Auawise}} violates any policy and I should move it to a user subpage? I have found absolutely nothing against it so far.
- I will use WP:Snow more in the future...
- I have to go now, I have like a 60 page Physics homework due tomorrow, I'd better start writing now.
- So, thanks for coaching me today and for the tips....
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 18:10, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hello!
- Give me a couple of days.. At the beginning I did not use the "subst" thing so this will cause some problems with transclusion. I will move it once I finish putting "subst" into all user talk pages with this template.
- I agree with you, but I really found nothing that says it must be general for it to keep its name.
- Cheers!
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 18:28, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hello coach!
- I did start a subpage and put the questions there, I have not answered all (3) of them! I am working on it.
- Yes, I finished substing the template, and then I moved it to a user subpage. A BOT will take care of the page, links, redirects, etc.
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 15:24, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hello!
- When it comes to mainspace editing, I tend to edit scientific articles, Biology and Physics in particular. However, I shy away from articles related to literature; not my area really. You might have also noticed that I have a particular interest in I.Q. and its effects.
- If needs to, I edit articles related to WikiProjects I am involved in (recently WP:IRAQ and WP:KOSOVO) and articles concerned with schools.
- I am open to other areas, but the above constitutes interests.
- What is the assignment anyway? This feels like a job interview where I have to give correct answers to get the job... :)
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 08:05, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
(Outdent) Sorry about the talkpage, I will have Misza bot clean it for me. By the way, we can use this subpage for conversation to get some "privacy".
The assignment is a challenge given my lack of interest in history, but I like challenges and will do my best there. (You used your BOT to come up with this assignment, right? I am guessing because my recent history might reflect my interest in WikiProject Iraq but it also shows that I very rarely edit an Iraq-related article)
With 356 members, this project is extremely popular among wikipedians. Many Sysops are part of this project. I think you should however consider how much help you can offer there, I have always thought of you as a person who is interested primarily in maths and maths history, so I am understandably surprised to find you interested in an area that can not be described as not being dissimilar to maths. I personally like to help projects which really need help, projects that experience no progress in months.....
- Anyways
NousernamesleftPeter, Cheers! :) - Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 14:43, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

RFA
Thanks for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully with 40 supports, 13 opposes, and 4 neutrals. For those of you who supported my RFA, I greatly appreciate it. For those who did not, I'm also thankful for your constructive criticism. If you need some advice or have some pointers for me, you know where to reach me! A special thank you to Majorly for all his time and effort he has placed in my nomination. Once again, thank you all for your helpful comments. Now off to new admin school! Research on the RFA process
Hello, I am an anthropology student researching the Wikipedia Requests for adminship procedure. As you recently completed this process, I was wondering if you would be willing to answer a few quick questions.
- Do you believe that the current RFA process is an effective way of selecting admins?
- Do you notice a difference between users who are nominated vs selfnoms?
- Is a week an appropriate length for process? Should it perhaps be longer or shorter?
- Do you think the user's status in the community changes while the user is undergoing the RFA process? How about after the RFA process is over?
If you are willing, please leave your answers on my talk page or e-mail them to me.
This research will not be published academically, as this research is primarily to demonstrate the feasibility of doing online ethnography in online only communities such as Wikipedia, though I intend to make my findings available on Wiki. Your name will not be associated with any information you provide in any published work. If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you. --Cspurrier (talk) 18:40, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Admin Coaching Re-confirmation
Hello, previously you expressed interest in participating in the Wikipedia:Admin coaching project. We are currently conducting a reconfirmation drive to give coaches the opportunity to update their information and capacity to participate in the project. Please visit Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Status to update your status and move your entry to the Active list. Also, please remember to update your capacity (5th table variable) in the form of a fraction (eg. 2/3 means you are currently coaching 2 students, and could accept 1 more student). Thank you. MBisanz talk 09:28, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I know, you were the last one to add and now I ask you to go back and do it again. Sorry! Couldn't think of another way to make sure everyone listed a capacity. MBisanz talk 15:12, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Your ER
Hi, I'm working on the backlog at WP:ER, and your empty review from December is at the bottom. Are you still interested in getting reviewed? If you don't still need a review, it would lighten the load to archive it, but of course if you do still want one, I'm glad to do it, probably in the next couple days. Let me know. Scripts
I'm not sure what did that, it could be the reflist format being used? Keilana|Parlez ici 03:07, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, there's {{reflist}} and {{reflist}}, I'm not really sure either. You could always try removing scripts one at a time and seeing which fixes it, that's what I usually do when something breaks. Keilana|Parlez ici 03:26, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello
Why didn't you tell me you were an admin when we were talking about the GA article? Sorry if I offended you by failing the article. If you relist it, I will review it, and it will most likely pass since you added the pictures, that was really the only issue with it. Also, how can I edit the main page? Just a question. MILHIST
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, article logistics, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Blnguyen (vote in the photo straw poll) 02:28, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
