Welcome to the USRD-CRWP Cup

Hello, Triadian, and welcome to the USRD-CRWP Cup. This is just a reminder that the contest will start at 00:00 UTC on Saturday (about 4 PM Pacific and about 7 PM Eastern on Friday). Nominations must be made after that time to count for the contest.

Currently, there is only one pool for contestants. Please feel free to invite any Wikipedia user to join. We need a few more users to get another pool.

It is unknown when the first round will end; however, it will last at least 3 weeks.

Regards, Rschen7754 (T C) 01:17, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Emergency US 31

Would you like a photo or two? I'm temporarily commuting from the Grand Rapids area to Muskegon daily for work this week and next. I'm sure I could snap a photo or two of the shield assemblies for either Emergency North US 31 or Emergency South US 31... Imzadi1979 (talk) 00:52, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 03:00, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Hope to see you play!—Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 09:15, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

2009 quarters article

Hi! Congratulations on starting the District of Columbia and United States Territories Quarter Program article. As someone who had advocated for the article on the 50 state quarters article to be split, you have done a GREAT job! The only thing left is to update the images to the ones used on the Mint's site. - Thanks, Hoshie 06:06, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Greetings

I was at the march and am willing to debate the Libs APK and Samboy at [1] ridiculous attempts to minimize the turnout for this event. I just put up a source in talk that says FreedomWorks revised their estimate to 600-800,000 and that the 60-75,000 figure given to ABC by a FD was unauthorized. September 2009

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Taxpayer March on Washington. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Loonymonkey (talk) 23:42, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

I'm reverting your edit war, not mine. See the talk page for Taxpayer March on Washington. --Triadian (talk) 23:57, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

9 12 project

Triadian,

I see you're working on the 9 12 project article. Please consider this as a friendly reminder that unsourced information is inappropriate to add to articles, especially when the article's very existence may be up for discussion (see consensus for deletion in April 2009). If you wish to put content somewhere temporary, you can use your user space. For example User_talk:Triadian\912_temp could be a place to put information that is still unsourced. Thank you for your cooperation. — Mike :  tlk  04:41, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Triadian, I'd like to clarify something since I may be coming across the wrong way here. I almost exclusively edit politically controversial articles, and have found that sticking to the rules rather rigidly leads to less bickering and POV-pushing. I have put a lot of work into Glenn Beck and Taxpayer March on Washington, and I would very much like to make sure that this article, if appropriate to exist, is of high quality. I have no partisan agenda here, just the intent to stick to the rules in the interest of keeping things accurate and NPOV. — Mike :  tlk  04:59, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
I understand, it's just a different style. You like to implement the rules immediately. I can't stay up for this though right now. You can revert back if you wish. I'll come back to this another day. In the meantime, hopefully some of the other editors can give input into the article since I've invited many of them. --Triadian (talk) 05:05, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Note to Triadian and ObserverNY

hello. the best evidence, in my opinion, of how many people marched on 9-12 is the time-lapse video on YouTube. how do we get it into the 9-12 March on Washington article? any ideas? i added it as an external link, but looney removed it. Kenatipo (talk) 05:51, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

The article List of hyphenated cities, towns, and villages has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unecyclopedic trivia

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:48, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (File:Crystal coast.jpg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Crystal coast.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 02:52, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Be careful...

When you merged Knightdale Bypass into U.S. Route 64 in North Carolina you copied a vandalized version of the exit list. --NE2 20:30, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Wow, didn't even realize it. Seemed fine to me. Sorry about that. --Triadian (talk) 00:23, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't know that it was such a good idea to change the name in some of the articles. Everyone knows what Wachovia Center was. No one will know what 100 North Main Street is. I was looking at this one source and didn't know what the heck had happened. I certainly saw no coverage of the name change. You want them to HAVE to click on the link? What if they have slow Internet or it goes down right then?Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:41, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I just find it redundant to have one pipe link to the other, but it doesn't really matter I suppose. The point that I'm trying to convey is that the building is no longer called Wachovia Center. You're right, I can't really find any coverage of the name changing. All I know from all my sources is that the name has in fact changed with the most recent handover to SL Winston Salem company. No articles after this handover show that it's called Wachovia Center anymore and even Emporis has made the switch. Now, as for the people not knowing what 100 N Main Street is, I guess that is their fault and yes I would expect them to click on the link. If you want you can say something like "...100 North Main Street, formerly Wachovia Center,..." in some articles to prevent confusion, that's fine with me. Most of the changes I made to your edits were where you had written something like "are found in the former Wachovia Center". When you use the word "former" like that, you infer that the building no longer exists (demolished, etc), not that the name has just changed. --Triadian (talk) 23:17, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, good point. I thought "former Wachovia Center" made it clear, but I see what you're saying.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:23, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:31, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Misspelled town name in an image you created...

File:Northcarolinaareacodes.gif uses the name "Morgantown", but the name of the town should be Morganton. A concerned user brought the issue up at WP:HD, and since you created the file, I thought I would pass the situation on to you. Toodles! --Jayron32 19:00, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I've corrected this, by editing the file and uploading a new version. Hope that's OK,  Chzz  ►  11:23, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Chuzz, that's awesome, but I don't see the new file. Did you upload it under a different name? Also, did you replace the incorrect file in the article space with your new version? --Jayron32 15:16, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
I used 'upload a new version'. That replaces the old file with the new one, so no change is needed on the articles.
Actually, due to a glitch, I had to upload it twice. You'll see, in File:Northcarolinaareacodes.gif under "file history", the 3 entries.
If you're still seeing the old version on a page, try WP:PURGE.  Chzz  ►  13:38, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
Yup, I just had to purge my local cache. Once I did that, it fixed it. Mea culpa. --Jayron32 16:30, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
