[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2019 Lithuanian Football Cup, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page LFF (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The article Robert Savage (racing driver) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Richard Jeremiah Walsh
[edit]Would you please check recent edits at Richard Jeremiah Walsh. An IP has made some claims that would be easier for you to evaluate. Assuming the IP is wrong, please revert, preferably with an edit summary that editors in the future can use to see that the information has been checked. By the way, the style for referring to people is to use their surname, see MOS:SURNAME. Instead of "Richard is a..." it should be "Walsh is a...". Johnuniq (talk) 05:04, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:MEC 2016 Rallysprint poster.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:MEC 2016 Rallysprint poster.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Vilkyciu trasa.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Vilkyciu trasa.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:23, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly:, I've added more information about the File:Vilkyciu trasa.jpg, could you please let me know if it makes sense and whether it is sufficient. I've another relevant question - if I needed to obtain a permission, where and how I would record the permission (i.e. the email)? Wolfmartyn (talk) 11:09, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
- The information you provided seems sufficient enough to verify the source of the file; so, I've removed the Template:nsd I added since it's no longer applicable. As for permission, you've uploaded the file under a public domain (PD) license which basically states that the file is too simple for copyright protection per c:Commons:Threshold of originality (TOO) and typically copyright holder permission is not needed in such cases simply because the file is considered to be not complex enough to even be eligible for copyright protection. However, in order for a file to be considered PD domain for such a reason for Wikimedia Foundation purposes, it needs to be below the TOO in both its country of origin (Lithuania) and in the United States (where the Wikimedia Foundation servers are located). This file is probably OK as PD per c:Commons:Copyright rules by territory/United States#Threshold of originality, but I'm not sure about Lithuania per c:Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Lithuania; so, you might want to ask about this at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright or Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. If the file is OK as PD in both the US and Lithuania, there's no reason for it to only be hosted locally on English Wikipedia and it can be moved to Commons to make it easier to use by all Wikimedia Foundation projects (including other language Wikipedias). On the other hand, if the file is only PD in the US, then Commons cannot host it which means there are three possible ways to deal with the file: (1) re-license the file as non-free content for local use on English Wikipedia only which means each of the file's uses will need to satisfy Wikipedia's non-free content use policy; (2) re-license the file as Template:PD-USonly, which means the file will be treated as PD for local use on English Wikipedia only (i.e. it's not subject to the non-free content use policy); and (3) contact the original copyright holder as explained in c:Commons:OTRS and ask them to send a consent email to Wikimedia OTRS which clearly states that they agree to have the file uploaded to Commons per c:Commons:Licensing. Of the three options, (1) is the most restrictive, (3) is the most relaxed and (2) falls somewhere in between as explained in Wikipedia:Uploading images; moreover, options (1) and (2) would only allow the file to be used on English Wikipedia as a local file, while (3) will allow the file to be used by any Wikimedia Project as a global file. Does this answer you question about permission? -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:00, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly:, thank you for an indepth answer, I will need to digest that, I'm learning a lot about image licensing recently. Wolfmartyn (talk) 16:56, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Billy Coleman
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Billy Coleman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.millstreet.ie/blog/2010/03/10/billy-coleman-tarmac-titan-dvd. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:30, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick: why was this marked for speedy deletion rather than move to draft or special space? If you have not noticed this is a genuine and important page that is being created, it is not fair to treat it as junk and just bin it. Wolfmartyn (talk) 13:53, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Wolfmartyn, It wasn't treated as "junk". As explained above, it was a violation of our copyright policy and thus removed. I don't know whether this was the situation but I have noticed many new editors understanding that copyright violations are not acceptable, but thinking it is okay to copy some material from some of the source and then work on rewriting it. That is not the case. It is not simply the case that the current version of the article must be free of copyright violations, it is the case that all prior versions of any article must be free of copyright violations.
- You are free to try again. You are encouraged to start in draft space, although copyright violations are not acceptable in draft space. S Philbrick(Talk) 14:15, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @JBW: could you please move the page to either draft or special space - there is a lot of work which I would not like to lose. I accept the point about copyright infringement and will resolve the issue. Wolfmartyn (talk) 13:53, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Wolfmartyn, I made a copy of the text so I could send it to you by email but I don't see that you have email enabled. S Philbrick(Talk) 14:19, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick:Could you guide me how to get email enabled please. Or can you post the text to my generic draft space (which will not become the article, hence will not infringe any copyright). Wolfmartyn (talk) 14:28, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick:Emailing from users enabled. I would really appreciate if you email me the script, or at least the infobox - I did a lot of work on it, and it definitely does not infringe anything! Wolfmartyn (talk) 17:10, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- If you post a copy of something on a publicly visible web site it does not somehow avoid being a copyright infringement by having some word such as "draft" or "user" at the top of the page. Copyright-infringing text must not be posted to any Wikipedia page, ever. There are no exceptions. JBW (talk) Formerly JamesBWatson 16:11, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @JBW: Copyright infringement is if I claimed the work, or copy-pasted work without citing it, whereas I merely quoted the source improperly. If it needs to be changed then it can be done in the draft space, not deleted, that's what draft space is for, it is temporary, unpublished, and not even searchable by search engines. So I don't appreciate you jumping on me like this, and again urge you to return article to draft space. Wolfmartyn (talk) 17:10, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Wolfmartyn, Your understanding of copyright is incorrect. You are not alone — I see many new editors who think that if the material is properly cited that eliminates copyright problems. That is not the case. Even properly cited material must be written in your own words (with the exception of short snippets that are in quotes, or material that is properly licensed). Sorry if it sounds like someone's jumping on you but you are doing things that are not just in violation of Wikipedia policies but probably in violation of the law and we are trying to protect you. S Philbrick(Talk) 17:52, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Disambiguation links and wrong links
[edit]Hi Wolfmartyn, when you added the entry lists on 2021 Dakar Rally, you added both links to disambiguation pages (for example: Dmitry Pavlov, should be Dmitry Pavlov) and links to unintended topics (for example Alexey Titov, which links to a page about the composer by that name, while the intended destination is Alexey Titov). I've fixed all links to disambiguation pages, since those are easy to find, but there might still be links to unintended topics left on that page. In the future, could you please carefully check that every link you add directs where you want it to direct? Thanks! Lennart97 (talk) 21:30, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Lennart97:Thank you for correcting it. This was the first stage of work where I populated the names of participants, another day's work will be to go through spelling, correcting links, checking disambiguations, etc. Sometimes it is difficult to estimate whether the person is the same or not, in that case I leave the link and hope someone with knowledge will correct it if needed. Thanks again. Wolfmartyn (talk) 23:20, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

[edit]A Lyga
[edit]Transfermarkt is not a reliable source, it's user-generated content. This has been discussed multiple times, most recently here, so please stop adding content sourced only to Transfermarkt or other non-reliable sources. Also, learn what vandalism is before accusing others of it- removing content sourced to unreliable sources is not vandalism. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:40, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Your recent editing history at A Lyga shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
