Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region is the metropolitan area covered by the city of Visakhapatnam in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The entire region is spread over the districts of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram. Under the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority, it covers an area of 6,501.65 km2 (2,510.30 sq mi) and has a population of 50.18 lakhs.

Jurisdiction

Under the jurisdiction of VMRDA, the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region (VMR), comprises, Visakhapatnam and the districts of Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram. It is spread over an area of 6,501.65 km2 (2,510.30 sq mi) and has a population of 50.18 lakhs. Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam were merged in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).[1]
