Algester is an outer suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is 18 kilometres (11 mi) south-west of the central business district.
Algester was heavily developed after the Second World War and has also seen considerable recent development. It forms part of the Brisbane Agricultural Reserve, which once covered a large area of southern Brisbane.
The suburb's name is a corruption of "Alcester" Road. Briefly, in the 1970s it was named Ridgewood after the Ridgewood Heights estate, but became known officially as Algester in 1972.
Its population was estimated in the 2006 census at 7,368.
