KRIS-DT2 is the CW-affiliated television station for the Corpus Christi area of South Texas. The station is part of The CW Plus, a special CW feed that broadcasts on cable and/or over-the-air on a digital signal. It is a second digital subchannel of NBC affiliate KRIS-TV that is owned by Cordillera Communications (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Evening Post Publishing Company). Over-the-air, KRIS-DT2 broadcasts a digital signal on VHF channel 13.2 from a transmitter in Robstown. Known on-air as CW South Texas, this can also be seen on Grande Communications channel 16. Until December 13, 2011, it was carried on Time Warner channel 23. KRIS-TV's owners and the cable company are currently under a dispute regarding carriage fees, leaving TWCable customers in South Texas without programming from the CW.[1]

[edit] Newscasts

Like all CW Plus affiliates in the Central Time Zone, the station airs the nationally syndicated morning show The Daily Buzz on weekdays from 5 to 8. The main channel produces a prime time newscast weeknights at 9 on KRIS-DT2 and sister station KDF. However, each channel has its own title and opening for the show. After KRIS-TV and former rival KZTV joined forces, the former moved into the latter's facilities in September 2010.

Due to technical issues with the move of KRIS-TV it was not able to air newscasts from September 26 until September 28. That station unveiled a brand new high definition-ready set and graphics package on September 29. Eventually, KRIS-TV will stream all of its newscasts on the website. Previously, it had streamed the weekday noon show online.
